We always have the best time at the Lamplighter. Dan and Jen are the sweetest couple and they really take care of their guests. Breakfast is always delicious and feature meat from the local butcher. For a nice and relaxing time away we highly recommend a stay here.
This was our first stay at the Lamplighter B&B and we are already looking forward to a return visit. The innkeepers are very welcoming and made you feel appreciated. Jen is a great cook and made the BEST homemade breakfast we have had in a long time. The inn has so much character and is exceptionally clean. The king bed was very comfortable and the huge shower was a plus.
The innkeepers Jen and Dan are beyond kind, genuine, generous, and gracious. The attention to detail of the home’s decor and also the add-on amenities surpassed our expectations. We added the charcuterie tray, flowers, persecco, chocolate cake, and sparkling cider to our stay in the Ansel Adams room. The presentation was beautiful; flavors perfection; and servings generous. We were even provided with “to-go” packaging so to bring remaining goodies home. Our purpose for staying at the Lamplighter B&B was due to needing a place to stay overnight for an early MRI the following morning (we live several hours away). We were nicely surprised to find that the inn is in close proximity to the Spectrum hospital. Additionally, we decided to take advantage of the time away to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary a few days early at the inn. Our decision to stay at the Lamplighter blessed us with a wonderful and memorable experience. Dan and Jenn provide many extra goodies inside and outside (e.g., robes, a library, complimentary beverages galore on both floors 24/7; easy off-street parking, gazebo—and lap blankets, if needed) to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Jenn makes the flavorful, homemade breakfast and Dan said he “has the pleasure of serving it.” 😊 We will definitely choose the Lamplighter B&B again when we return to Ludington (preferably in warmer weather).…
Our room was very nice with a private bathroom having a shower and a large soaking jetted tub. They had every detail taken care of. Breakfast was outstanding and amenities were very well thought out as well. They even included water bottles or cans of pop to grab and go. I was very impressed with the cleanliness. I have been to many B&B's that were clean, but still saw dust in corners or whatever. Not this place. Every speck was very clean, which is very top on our list.
After searching reviews for the best B&B for our 25th anniversary, we set our sights on Lamplighter B&B and Dan & Jen delivered. The home is beautiful and clean with all the amenities you would ever need. The Ansel Adams room was spacious, beautiful, comfortable and extremely clean. We also included massages in our package right on sight by Becka which was amazing. The breakfasts were really tasty, all locally sourced and homemade. Even Dan's presentation was very professional and shows they really take pride in what they do. Coffee, tea, cocoa, water, pop and ice were all complimentary not to mention Jen's Gingerdoodle cookies in the afternoon which were amazing. You can also relax by the fire downstairs or under the gazebo. Overall, it was absolutely perfect and Dan & Jen were perfect hosts. …
My husband & I enjoyed our stay at the Lamplighter B & B before our early morning boarding on the S.S. Badger. Jen & Dan were friendly & more than accommodating. I asked for an earlier check-in. They graciously gave us an hour earlier. The home was very clean, beautiful, cozy and peaceful. Our room & bed were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the presentation was fantastic. Everything we needed was provided. Jen gave us dinner recommendations as well. We ate at Table 14 which was also wonderful & watched the sunset at the park. Our time in Ludington was short but memorable. I would highly recommend the Lamplighter for your stay in the area.
I had to see what all the fuss was about when I read the spectacular ratings for this B&B. We were not disappointed. Dan and Jen were outstanding, very welcoming hosts. Dan was very helpful in providing restaurant suggestions, and gave us a good tip about driving north along the lake into scenic Ludington State Park. He also insisted on toting our heavy luggage upstairs for us. We've stayed in B&Bs throughout the US, Canada and Europe, and their house is one of the most impressive we've seen. Breakfast was really special---take a bow, Jen! We only eat quiche when we accidentally encounter it at a B&B from time to time. I'm usually not especially fond of it, but I must say her quiche was great.....and it was accompanied by bacon, yogurt, coffee, juice, etc., so I wasn't hungry again until dinner time. The home-made vinagrette on her breakfast salad was fantastic. The free drinks and various treats are also a nice touch. Our experience is easy to summarize in a nutshell: We'll be back.…
We had an excellent time at the Lamplighter Inn! Dan and Jen were excellent hosts and really thought of everything a guest might need during their stay. They even had umbrellas you can use if the weather is not cooperating. The room was extremely clean and well kept. The public areas for guests to use were adorable with lots of items to keep you entertained from books to puzzles. The breakfast was awesome and creative. I also loved the fact you can get tea or coffee throughout your day. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a relaxing time.
If I could give 10 stars, I would! This B&B completely exceeded our expectations. Jen and Dan are warm & welcoming. Our room was SPOTLESS and beautiful with a large bathroom. The breakfast was delicious; homemade EVERYTHING all served on beautiful china. If you are lucky enough to book a room at the Lamplighter, do it, do it, DO IT!!
A wonderful Inn that seeks to provide you with everything you might need! The innkeepers are exceptional. Homemade breakfasts that cater to dietary needs. Loved the Inn itself with all it’s beautiful woodwork. Short ride to the downtown area and beautiful city beach. Lovely seating area outside as well. Thanks Dan and Jen for seeing to all our needs.
