Not sure how this place gets 4 &1/2 rating. The location is excellent. That's the best thing I can say about it. The person on the phone stated the pool was being maintained, and no continental breakfast. It is semi clean, run down, dead bugs, poor cleaning of the room, and there was a strong chemical smell outside the room just off the pool that appears to have been under repairs for a very long time. I can't recommend the place. There are many other choices but I took the Trip Advisor's rating as believable. Do not stay and let this place snare more unsuspecting consumers until they clean up their business.

We (two couples) stayed in the back part, which was quiet. Clean room, good shower, good location. And that's where the good ends. Rude clerk at the front desk, hard to understand. Their website said to tell them if you were an AARP member, and you would get a $5 discount. Not such a big deal, but if advertised, we expected to get it. He said he had already processed our cards, but would talk to his supervisor, and we would receive it. Have heard nothing! Tried to get a pop from the vending machine, but with no success. He pointed to the sign "Pool closed for repair," and said no drinks. What? We finally found a handyman who explained that sometimes the pop machine malfunctioned because of weather. He was very nice. Will not go back. This place had been recommended, but I will tell those who recommended it that it was a disappointment,

Arrive for 3 night weekend left after first one fue to construction right next to motel and noisy all night. Additionally motel is older and in average condition with out dated decor. Upon entry the room there was a smell we had to keep the doors open to air it out. Window in bathroom did not close. The only plus for this place is that is across from the beach.

We stayed at this hotel on two different nights. The first night we had a room in the motel on the first floor. The room was large but dated. The bathroom was unnecessarily small. It should have used more of the space available rather than allocating too much space to sink/counter. The toilet was one of the lowest I have ever encountered which was exceptionally difficult to use as I have had knee surgery. When I asked at the office if there were any rooms with a more accessible bathroom for our next stay in a few days, the person was unconcerned and almost rude. On our return our room was in the annex. There is no parking for the annex, We did find a place on the street but that meant carrying luggage a longer distance than necessary. The stairway to the second floor at the door was so steep and the steps were so short in depth that when combined with the carpet on them I was afraid to try to climb them. Eventually I found the front stairway (no signage) which was only slightly better and inadequately lighted. The hand rail stopped before you reached the second floor. No breakfast is included although there was a coffee maker in the room. The blind on the recessed floor level windows were almost impossible to reach to close even though they faced the main street. The swimming pool was closed. Although this was once a good spot in Ludington, it has gone downhill and needs updating including those related to guest safety.

The location is great. Room looked just like the picture. Staff were friendly and professional. I don't mind older properties, it's actually kind of a neat one that made me feel like hotels when I was a kid. However, I have to say, this place was filthy. There was old garbage left from previous people, in plain sight on the floor. Under the beds was even worse, with tons of old garbage including cigarette butts. The bathroom floor got wet, so I used a towel to dry it - the white towel came up black. The floor had not been vacuumed, there were old bits of stuff all over the place. We had to wait past check in time for them to finish cleaning our room and it wasn't even clean. I don't expect sterility in hotels, but this was one of the dirtiest places I've stayed anywhere in the US and we would not come back.

We visit Ludington several times a year and have stayed at most of the hotels in the area. We decided to try the Ludington Pier House because of the indoor pool. At checkout we learned that the pool had been closed for some time -which is not posted anywhere online. The rooms were outdated but clean, and overall the hotel was quiet. The location is great and close to the beach and shops/restaurants. The hotel is on par with most in the area.

On a positive note, the hotel is across the street from the beach and relatively clean. The rooms, however, are very, very dated and the beds are rock hard. We chose this hotel because we were traveling with our dog and pets are allowed —but I don’t think we would stay here again.

Room was nice. Very good size and a large bathroom. My only issue with the hotel was a lack of parking. We had to park on the street along the hotel to bring in our luggage. After going out to dinner, there were no spots left when we returned, so we parked in front of the office and walked around the building to our room. Like I said, we had no issues with the room, liked the room. Just the parking situation was odd.

Really quaint property, extremely clean and convenient to downtown. It’s in close proximity of the Ludington ferry embarkation area (SS Badger). The hotel provides a nice room for a reasonable price. It’s no frills. It’s an easy walk to downtown shops and restaurants.

I was initially put off by the "old" smell of the property. The brick house section smells like your grandmas church. Otherwise, This in an extremely clean and comfortable property, within easy walking distance of the beach and many restaurants. I found the bed to be cozy and I got good sleep! I will happily stay here again.
