Our extended family rented 4 of the cottages at Hobby Crest in August of 2020 and it is such a lovely resort. We have stayed at many places on Hamlin Lake and this was by far the best. The cottages are recently updated, clean, well decorated and equipped with everything you need. The resort itself has plenty to do right on site including a small, nice playground, a clean sandy beach area with many chairs for lounging, and a great swim area with a water trampoline. There are hiking trails in Ludington state park that are accessible directly across the street, and if you are willing to hike up a steep sand dune there are breathtaking views of Lake Michigan just steps away from the resort. Randy and Christy are excellent hosts and even provided those staying at the resort with margaritas and daiquiris on Friday night :). We are looking forward to staying again in 2021!

We were looking for a last minute vacation for our family of 4 that would be Covid safe and also near Lake Michigan. Boy did we find the perfect place! This resort is clean and modern with everything you need. The owners Randy and Christy thought of everything. Each cabin has their own picnic table and chairs with a gas grill and fire pit. There are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores near by if you’d like to eat out or have a nice meal at the cabin. There’s a nice little beach area for the kids to play or swim and jump on the huge water trampoline. Parents have plenty of loungers and umbrellas for a nice relaxing way to keep an eye on the kids. They even have kayaks, paddle boards, or a pontoon boat to rent for the day. We spent half the time at the cabin beach and the other half at the ludington state park which is a 5 minute drive...so convenient. 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone looking for a cute family friendly cabin get away.

This is our 3rd time to Hamlin Lake and our first stay at Hobby Crest! Christy and Randy are amazing and truly make sure you have everything you need and are just a text or call away if you need something more immediate. We stayed in Beachfront and Sunrise super clean and everything we needed! We are booking to come back next year! The resort has all you need, but town is just a quick drive to shops and restaurants! Ludington State Park is just a stones throw away with hiking trails. A quick drive and you can be on the shores of Lake Michigan. The sunrises and sunsets of Hamlin Lake are beautiful! If you are looking for a place to stay, clean and right on the water Hobby Crest is a must!

We are just leaving Hobby Crest after spending a week there over the fourth. We love this place, and we love the Malliots! They are amazing hosts. It’s our second year here, and we are coming back for a third next year. We stayed in sunfish with our six year old daughter who loved the bunk beds. The cabins are so cute, and new with air and are extremely clean. During this time of COVID, it’s such a safe place to go with your own private, clean place. We were worried about getting away due to risk, but desperately needed time out of our house. This was lovely. Beautiful views of Hamlin Lake, a playground for our daughter, water trampoline and clean lake for swimming. So many good memories and new vacation friends-all enjoyed at a social distance! The state park beach on Lake Michigan and trails are just down the road, and the public beach is about ten minutes away as well. There’s tons of nature around for biking and hiking. If you rent their pontoon boat, you can have a really fun dune hike right off of Hamlin Lake. We grilled out every night except one because we had to get the local Chuckwagon pizza-which can be delivered right to the resort! Just call ahead. It’s extremely family friendly and peaceful. Plus, we had s’mores and a camp fire each night at our own cabin’s fire pit. Definitely recommend this place!!

UPDATE: Good news!! The owner Christy called me, apologized, and sent a refund check of $3, 150 (minus a $50 processing fee). We appreciate the kindness. Everything is A-OK. (original post - 4/2/20) We believe Christy and her husband to be honorable people. However, we emailed our cancellation for renting Beachfront and Sunrise in July on March 20, March 26, and again today. No one is replying via email. No one is answering the phone. No one is replying to Facebook. WE WANT OUR REFUND OF $3,200 IMMEDIATELY
