UPDATE: Good news!! The owner Christy called me, apologized, and sent a refund check of $3, 150 (minus a $50 processing fee). We appreciate the kindness. Everything is A-OK. (original post - 4/2/20) We believe Christy and her husband to be honorable people. However, we emailed our cancellation for renting Beachfront and Sunrise in July on March 20, March 26, and again today. No one is replying via email. No one is answering the phone. No one is replying to Facebook. WE WANT OUR REFUND OF $3,200 IMMEDIATELY
We had a wonderful stay at Hobby Crest. We stayed in the recently renovated Fox Den cabin. The furniture and decorations were beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. The views of Hamlin lake were stunning and the cabin and Resort grounds had everything we could have asked for. We started referring to Hobby Crest as the Four Seasons of Ludington because everything was taken care of everyone knew our names. Randy and Christy and the entire staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and they really made it feel like a home away from home. We have stayed at several resorts in Ludington, but Hobby Crest was by far our favorite and we can't wait to go back!
Three generations of our family stayed in Captains Quarters the week of July 4th. Our cabin was spacious and clean and the grounds were safe for young children. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We all had a great time!
We just ended a magical week at the Hobby Crest resort with 3 generations of our family in 5 cottages. We had great grandparents, grandparents, parents, adults with and without children and kids ages 2-7. EVERYONE had an amazing time. There is quite a bit to do at the resort and you do not need to leave unless you really feel you need to step into town! The renovated cottages are impeccable...shiplap walls, woodplank ceilings, trim in each room to match the custom made cabinets/furniture. The showers are roomy and overall, you will feel like you are living in a clean home away from home - which is often rare in lake rentals. The cabins are fully stocked with wine glasses, measuring cups/spoons, bakeware, etc. The only things you really need to bring are beach towels, spices/cooking oils, coffee/sweetener, food, and a few trash bags. There is plenty of storage to fully unpack and feel settled. In addition, each cottage has its own firepit, firewood, picnic table, and outdoor furnishings. Our family rented the Sunfish, Bluegill, Nantucket, Sunrise, and Boone. All were very well done. The layout of the resort allows parents to enjoy a fire or sunset while the kids can plan in the grassy area/playground within view. The beach and lake area are spacious and well kept. The cottages come with a binder of things to do/restaurants nearby. The Ludington State Park is also gorgeous and nearby with lighthouses, dunes, beaches, and large playgrounds. The entire family throughly enjoyed this trip. We will definitely return!…
Christie and Randy-the owners who are renovating the entire property are doing an amazing job at building, customer care, friendliness, and goals for more renovations. The resort was full, our other 2 family units had made reservations there and ours was at another resort. We found ourselves without a good place to stay because the other resort had left us without the required beds. Christie and Randy sprang into action, finishing the last unit that was under construction just so we could be accommodated! Additionally, the pontoon boat they had was brand new for us to rent.
