This is a very comfortable and well run place to stay. The accommodations are clean and pleasant. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful, and the continental breakfast buffet is generous, varied, and delicious. I hIghly recommend the Whaleback Inn.

Stayed here one night; views are spectacular and close to lots of cute little cities. Room was large and parking was right next to room. Furniture was rustic. The included breakfast was very good; included a lot of local specialties like Bay bread and and Cherry preserves, also fresh fruit, bagels and really good coffee. We really enjoyed our stay.... An absolute gem in a platinum setting! We stayed one night over the 4th of July weekend as part of our Circle Tour and this was the highlight of the trip. The king lake view room was more like a private cabin with a sliding door and two chair deck seating overlooking the lake. The onsite owners Scott and Tammie,... More

Had to be here for family business and needed a place to stay. The staff were very accommodating. Room was good with a wonderful view of Lake leelanau. Access to a deck and price was right. Will stay here again if we're back in the area.

Our cycling group stopped and stayed for two nights at the Whaleback Inn. The rooms were so nicely appointed in wood furnishing, to include wood carvings of birds on the headboard. Everything was clean, and fresh, with all the necessary amenities. The innkeeper was very hospitable, and the continental breakfast items were all delicious, served on a beautiful porch.

We first visited the Whaleback Inn in 2013 in late summer. We had a double queen room facing the lake. The room was comfortable and very clean which we really appreciated! We love the setting which sits up overlooking Lake Leelanau on M-22. The location can't be beat! This year we went in October to see the leaves and enjoy... More

This is a family owned motel and you could tell that the property was well-maintained by the owners. The motel is located just south of Leland, MI, on a wooded hillside overlooking the water. Spectacular sunrise photos can be taken right from the property. Our room was small; however, it was very inviting and comfortable. The furniture and the bed... More

This Inn reflects the quiet, peaceful, woodsy charm of the Leelanau Peninsula. Located just 1 mile south from Leland this is a lovely family owned property. We had a lake view room with a king. Nice windows overlooking Lake Leelanau. M-22 runs between the property and the lake so I was concerned about road noise. The traffic quiets down dramatically... More

Our family of two adults and two teens stayed three nights during a family vacation at the end of July 2015. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It was a typically-sized motel room with two queen beds. Not overly spacious, but enough space to move around or relax... More
