Friendly staff. Beds decent but room lacked outlets for laptop and chargers. Lamps dated. Bathroom small. Breakfast was decent with good selections and good coffee. All in all better suited to families and not so much for business travel but there aren’t many other options in this small town. Lots of restaurants nearby. Ample parking.

Hi leonardo703, Thanks for choosing to stay with us, we value your thoughts. Each guest deserves comfortable accommodations and a good breakfast to fuel one's day. That said, it's great reading your positive remarks. While I'm also glad that you find our staff hospitable, I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused by the available in-room outlets and the condition of the lamps. Feedback gives us the opportunity to improve so trust that I've shared yours with the management. Your candor is appreciated and I hope you find your way back when your travels bring you again to the area. Until next time, Jillian I Case Manager IHGService

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel while on a business trip. The hotel is in a great location and walking distance to a lot of local stores and restaurants. The Front desk ladies were very nice and accommodating. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The next morning I ate the breakfast provided which was pretty tasty. They have an automatic pancake machine which was really neat to experience and actually produced decent pancakes. Nothing negative to say about this place.

We stayed here for one night because our son had a hockey tourney in Lapeer. The front desk/reception area is quite small, so if there are multiple families checking in with bags and gear it gets crowded. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. We didn't hear anyone around us. Our sons wanted to try out the pool area with their friends, and they were only there about 20 mins. As other reviewers had mentioned, the chlorine was a little too strong for them and it bothered their eyes. Breakfast the next morning was the usual fair, but it was super crowded with the hockey families there so we ate fast and took some food back to our room. All staff were friendly and helpful. Cookies and chocolate milk in the lobby in the evenings were nice!

The hotel is pretty much a stand Holiday Inn Express. Honestly not remarkable one way or another, even showing a little wear on the facilities, but certainly not bad. The room's heater was a bit noisy & a bit over powering, but again, not bad. Where I award them their high marks has to do with their people. I found it absolutely amazing and refreshing! The night I stayed, the hotel had an issue with their internet access. I mentioned that I had a little work to do but thought I would be fine. I was given a Starbucks gift card to go down the street & have a coffee while using their internet. What a great way to keep me from being upset with the lack of internet. Next around 8 pm or so & I had a knock on my door. When I opened the door, one of their staff members was going door to door with hot cookies, coffee, or water for guests. I spend a ton of time on the road & in hotels, not once have I had this experience. Good for you Lapeer Holiday Inn!

Most importantly, the room was clean. Cookies in the evening in the lobby were a nice touch. The pool was steamy and the fumes from the chlorine were unbearable! While sitting on a chair in the pool area while my son swam for mere minutes my eyes were burning. All the kids in the pool were coughing. At first I thought some of them were sick, but then realized it was the fumes. Our tub did not drain (extremely slow). We only stayed one night and by the time we realized the drain situation it was too late, as we had to get to bed for an early day the next day. We did let them know about it at check out, so hopefully that problem has been fixed for the next guest. The breakfast was one of the worst I’ve had at a holiday inn express. No pancakes/waffles (machine was there, but not available for use), there was no apple or orange juice available. There’s a display for Cinnabon’s, but none offered. And I’m fairly certain my cereal was stale. Not worth the price, but there aren’t many options in the area.
