I love going to Lakeside in the off-season, when you can stay 2 nights for the price of one. I usually go for a couple of days after Thanksgiving. But it turns out that you can go for Thanksgiving, or for Christmas, or for New Year's Eve -- the last one, I did. Dave (who prepares breakfast for inn visitors)... More

We've been coming here for years. It is not for everyone. Quaint, rustic, not a lot of amenities but we love it. Innkeepers leave at night so guests have keys to enter hotel after hours. Beach access is across the street with lots of steps. No restaurant on site, but there is coffee and a microwave. Lots of places to... More

NO amenities per say. Very old shower/bathroom. No wifi which is NOT a complaint !!! but there is no cell signal in that area so a bit difficult to stay in touch! Prices are very high ($150/$170 a night in the summer??? - a joke) for the offering. Strictly based on the fact that its a great location. The rest... More

Charming old lodge near Lake Michigan. The room was clean and tidy. No amenities to speak of including the cafe which was closed. Price was reasonable for the area and season. Quiet places to relax, read or have a quiet visit. Staff was pleasant, but did not necessarily make us feel like they were glad we were there.

Had a wonderful weekend. Arrived at 11 a.m. which was early.(check-in is at 3 p.m. We were told our room was not ready. Which was fine. Oddly enough, they never asked for our name or what room # we had reserved. We were told to come back at 3. Sooooo, plenty of sights to see here anyway. We found the... More

I found this hotel perfect for a quick getaway. The hotel is very quiet and very old. The best part is the beach access. It is directly across the street from the lake and the lake is sparsely attended since it is all private beaches. We would definitely like to go back soon.

Unfortunately my wife and I were plagued with poor weather the weekend we visited, but the Lakeside Inn was decent enough. We paid one night for two as it was a couple of weeks before their summer season officially began. Our room was spacious and clean and I imagine that their front deck is a real treat during the summer.... More

We've been here twice now. Not a fancy place, but comfortable and gives you a feel of really getting away. Beach and walks are lovely. Great fireplace. Terrific bargains off season (two nights for one). Lovely art. From a different era, when inns and artists' retreats were in. You have to check out the panorama adjacent to the front desk... More

Lakeside Inn surrounds you with that cozy rustic northern Lodge feeling and also sets you back in time with it's historic preservation and charm. Their private Lake Michigan beach is across the street but is only accessible by many steep steps. Other near by beaches and sand dunes are more easily accessible if needed.

My family and I were at the Lakeside Inn for Thanksgiving and had the most wonderful meal ever. The Inn is gorgeous, with a very interesting history. Service was wonderful and staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner buffet with turkey and ham. They also had an amazing assortment of seafood and some Norwegian favorites.... More
