Kara was great to deal with and was also very accessible. The place was spotless and every possible thing you would need from bagels to band aids. I will gladly recommend and hopefully stay here again. Thank you

We stayed overnight in the Douglas Fir apartment, which is the wonderfully renovated upstairs to Kara's home. Loved the decor, colors, window treatments, bedding, shower, and the skylight above the cozy bed. We did hear Kara's teakettle whistling briefly early Friday morning (not loud enough to wake us up), and I mention that only because other than that we had... More

We stayed in the Birch Bark Kottage for just one night and all of us wished we could stay longer! Although our teenage son was leery of staying in a B&B, this was not a typical set up. We had a whole two-bedroom apartment to ourselves with a private entrance. The Kottage was decorated beautifully, with an upscale, earthy world-culture... More

Great place for quiet, homey stay...All the comforts of home. Convenient to the action at WMU or K College, and also to the interesting spots downtown.. Brew pubs and Restaurants will not disappoint. Try The Union for music and casual food. Most well supplied B/B I have ever enjoyed. it is a self catering place but many good choices for... More

A hidden gem! I found these "Kottages" here on trip Advisor and was drawn in by the review of past guests. The property did not disappoint. Instructions were sent within the hour for self check in and out, the place had everything you can think of for breakfast, toiletries and even a "mini-bar" for an extra charge in the room.... More

We stayed in Kara's Birch Bark Kottage on the weekend of our son's Kalamazoo College graduation. It was the perfect place to stay in town. The location, steps from the campus, could not have been more convenient. The accommodations were wonderful. As owners of two rental properties in Maine, we are often told by guests that we have thought of... More

This is a great little place to stay! We stayed in the Birch Bark cottage. It has a fully stocked kitchen to make breakfast or anything you might care to really. The fridge and freezer are full of food and there is a mini-bar in the fridge. If you are looking for wine, then I suggest that you go to... More

Beautiful B&B located close to downtown Kalamazoo. Well stocked kitchen and a variety of food such as eggs, sausage, yogurt, granola and cereal. No fruit as pictured in the photos. Our first night was spectacular, but the second night the guests downstairs came in noisily at 12:30 am and were smoking and loud until 4 am, a blatant disregard for... More

I managed to convince my daughter to go away for a weekend where we could be together and catch up, without her dealing with her senior year college demands. We could basically go anywhere in a 100-mile radius from where she studies, (I had to take a 7 hour flight anyway). We ended up choosing the Kalamazoo area because we... More

I've traveled extensively all over the country and stayed in quite a few "B&Bs." It takes a lot to make me stop and say, "wow!" Kara's Kottages very much impressed me. The use of the space and the interior design is outstanding. Very comfortable, very cozy... if you need it, it's in the room. Now this isn't a bed &... More
