Stayed here for a couple of days visiting relatives. The first night I had a two bed room with was so-so. Lots of people staying here that were in town for construction work. Basically just went there to sleep. Sounds of trucks starting in the early morning and highway road noise. The second room was a single bed that was bad. The floor was dirty and I got a bad case of athletes foot from the shower floor. I would suggest wearing sandals in the slower and shoes while walking in the room. Your white socks will get dirty fast. Convenient location around places to eat. The owners are nice but in poor health. The place would be nice if they just did a proper cleaning and carpet shampoo, and replaces the worn out beds. The UP gets busy during the summer and may be an only option for you. The price was under $100 per night. Not a place to hang out. I didn't feel safe with the single door knob lock.…
My husband and I went up North over the New Years eve weekend. We got a room here and upon checking in we got a upgrade for free. The owner was very friendly and charged what we were quoted with no other hidden fee. She also mentioned they would have coffee and gumdrop bread laid out for the morning. The room was huge and the bathroom was adequate sized. It was an older motel but was very clean and tidy. The water was hot like I like it so my nightly shower was great. Even better was the bed it was a queen sized but seemed bigger. Was surprised it wasn't smaller as some motel/hotels will tell you the beds are queen and really a full size. We slept well because mattress was comfy and in the morning, as promised, was gumdrop bread. We enjoyed being the only ones there for the night and the next day there was one other customer. I would definitely stay again in 2019. Thank you …
This is a family owned motel that is pretty old, but very clean. It’s not fancy by an means, but it’s also not pricey! The owners are very accommodating and went out of their way to take care of us! They even brought me ketchup for my pastie (UP meat pie)! You can drive 12 miles down the road and pay 3 or 4 times what they charge. We would stay there again :)
Small town motel...yup...after all, it’s in a small town. Close to larger Marquette [15 minute drive]...close to many restaurants with small town prices and big town taste. What do you want in a small town motel? Clean, comfortable, affordable...how about great owners that go out of their way to make your stay great? You have it all at Wonderland Motel. You are not getting [nor paying for] concierge service, fancy carpeted/paneled reception desks, stainless steel elevators, turn down service,...what you do get is you can park in front of your room, clean rooms, comfortable beds, coffee and donuts in the morning, a great conversation with the owners at any time complete with smiles...anything that Pete and Fran can do to make your stay better...they go out of their way to make it happen. Can you find a motel with a better view or more amenities...sure...just drive 15 minutes and spend 3-4 times more for your good nights sleep. But I can tell you that no matter how much money you spend for that "better view", you will not have more caring people than Pete and Fran.…
This is your classic UP motel. There are no frills, bells or whistles when dealing with the Wonderland. Rooms do have a flatscreen TV (cable), refrigerator and microwave in them. Owners (Pete & Fran) are very nice people! May not be upscale, but it is definitely affordable and not a bad place to stay for this area.
