The Inn was super convenient off I75 on our way south from Mackinac Island. It has a chalet style with decorative wood railings. It is an older property that is being actively updated. Bed was new and comfortable, and the room clean and spacious. Service was notable with younger owners that live on site. We ended up hanging out at the fire ring in back. Great little coffee shop down the street.
Our car broke down on I-75, it had to be towed to to Dan's Auto Repair in Indian River ,Mi.The auto repair did not open until Monday morning so we stayed in one of the trailers that are located on the property of the Waterway Inn for Saturday and Sunday night . Jess and Chris were wonderful hosts! Their hospitality can not be beat! The trailer was a two -bedroom set -up with a full kitchen, and it was VERY clean ,and had comfortable beds There was a campfire with with a swing and other seating. This location is close to 1-75, and close to Burt Lake. (We walked to the public Access Beach Area) Another stay here has already been booked! ;)
This was a comfortable and clean room. The room was spacious with extra room for using the computer table and the chair. The staff was friendly staff and the location was convenient to the trail, the freeway, and the area restaurants.
We again enjoyed our stay at the Coach House Motel / Waterway Inn. Chris and Jess are wonderful hosts who are really putting their heart and soul into the property. It had a lot of deferred maintenance and is a work in progress but they are doing great! This year we stayed in one of the mobile homes on the property - two bedroom units with a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The two window A/C units were sufficient to keep the place comfortable in hot, humid, and rainy weather. The mobiles are very dated (let's call them vintage) but have been cleaned well and brought up on basic maintenance. The double beds are comfortable and clean. And the WiFi was strong, even back in the mobile units. This was a surprising benefit. For our multi-day visit with friends who were camping at Burt Lake SP, we were able to sleep well, wake up and cook breakfast to bring and share with the camping group before spending the day outdoors and on the lake. It is an ideal place to stay, right next to McDonald's & Burger King, Ken's Village Market, and a couple gas stations, not to mention beautiful Burt Lake. It will be interesting to see what Chris and Jess can do with the place in the upcoming months/years. Meanwhile if you like to support "mom and pop" motels, I think you'd appreciate this one.…
Would stay here anytime I'm traveling. Close to everything. Close to I 75 its right there. A good value for you dollar, beds are comfortable, rooms are good size and clean. Owners are very nice, helpful and accommodating. It's a little outdated but they are making improvements.
