This is an older establishment which could use some minor updating so be prepared for a homey feel. I typically stay at Hilton’s so I must admit the word “Motel” is frightening. However I would absolutely come back again! The hosts are very friendly. Our double queen room was mostly clean, a little bit of dust in corners, but the restroom and beds were well maintained. This location is prime for the activities we had planned, so if you’re coming to the Indian River area check this place out!
The owners make you feel so welcome! If you need something, they go out of their way to make you happy! We tell all our friends to stay here! We will stay here every time we are in Indian River! Another huge plus, it’s within walking distance of Cross In the Woods!
On a trip to tunnel of trees and looking for a simple place to lay our heads. This motel and its owners care about the environment and their guests. This is as close as you get to the complete opposite of the big chain motels. Only a 20 minute drive (that seems shorter) to Cheboygan and little further to Mackinaw, this simple comfortable motel sits a stones throw (almost literally) to Cross in the Woods. Also a 20 minute drive West on M-68 to Alanson and the US-31 corridor. There are fire rings in front of the motel, and a bbq grill, but we didn't use them. There is cable tv, a firm mattress, fridge and microwave, and coffee in the morning. The setup for the TV was a little odd, but the TV was there and got many channels. I would recommend bringing an extra shampoo and soap as the motel tries to limit waste by not putting too many plastic items out to just be thrown away. Seriously, this motel was 10 times cleaner than almost all the motels we have ever stayed. If we are ever in the area and need a place to stay, this would be on the top of our list.…
Was excited to stay-here after the reviews I read. Was ready to turn around and head home after I walked in the door. Yes, it was spacious. However, it reeked of smoke...even though there is no smoking. There is no way on earth I would walk bare foot, because the carpet had so many stains. There was no a/c...apparently only certain units get that amenity. However, after all that the front desk was very welcoming and inviting and willing to bend over backwards for you. There was also no vacancy while we were there...mostly fishermen and dirt bikers.
Was in Vanderbilt and could have dropped south to Gaylord but were not looking for the large chain experience so we took a ride to Indian River. These owners take great pride in this motel. The room was impeccably clean. Beds were super comfortable. Not fancy but some nice touches. Very reasonably priced. Friendly service. Very thoughtful.
