We recently spent 2 nights at the Holland CityFlats Hotel. The room was generally fine, but with a few annoying features. The pluses: The bed itself was comfortable with a firm mattress and good linens. The bath towels were also reasonably plush and large for a moderately priced hotel. The availability of a mini-fridge was also convenient. Check-in was smooth, with very pleasant and competent desk clerk. The minuses: The room has a tiled floor, as does the hallway. Our visit coincided with a snow storm. If you walked into the room with wet shoes, you ended up with puddles everywhere, which did not get absorbed by carpeting. Very annoying. Our king size room had a very weird layout, In particular, the closet was located inside the bathroom. Although the toilet was within a small, separate room with a door, the shower was directly across from the closet with no separation or privacy. The bathroom itself was long & narrow. Also, there was only a single towel bar, located at the back of the shower, plus a single towel ring on one side of the sink, where one could hang a single face towel. This is nowhere near enough space for 2 people to hang their respective bath towels, face towels, and handcloths, plus a bath mat so that they will dry between uses -- which is especially a problem considering that the hotel only offers housekeeping on demand. (I"m happy to reuse my towels 2 days in a row, as I would at home, but only if they dry out in between.)…
Okay, so we travel as a family on a regular basis but I have to stay that our trip to CityFlatsHotel in Holland, MI was the best stay I've ever had. You may ask why so here goes... The hotel is situated in a prime downtown location. Holland is an absolutely charming town. The hotel has ample free parking in two large parking lots next to the hotel. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and provided 2 drink vouchers. We arrived during Happy Hour (4-7pm, everyday) and decided to make that our dinner. The Happy Hour pizza is huge and that along with another appetizer was more than enough for the 3 of us. Afterwards, we walked a block to a beautiful street 1 block over to do some window shopping. Back to the hotel, we stayed in room 309 facing the rear of the hotel. It was gorgeous! Quiet, so quiet! I'm going to attach photos. The bed was so soft and so comfortable. I've probably never sleep on a better bed with the softest bamboo sheets. Our shower was it's own room! We never heard any noises and even in the morning, it was glorious not to hear a single noise in the hallway. We ate breakfast at the hotel. Based on our fiber the previous night we knew it would be good and yes, it was super delicious!!! All in all, I think that this hotel was the best and I am so glad I was able to make memories on my son's 10th bday. Our waitress was so kind to bring him a special dessert to help him celebrate his special day! I would whole heartily reccomend this hotel to anyone. It was better than I could've ever imagined. We hope we can return to CityFlatsHotel again!…
Great hotel. Large rooms. Great service. Cook to order breakfast. Nice bar and bartender. Clean hotel. Free parking. Master kill switch to help conserve energy when leaving the room (that last sentence was due to the 200 word minimum). In the heart of downtown Holland. Would definitely stay here again!
Amazing time in Holland made possible with the amazing staff at this gem. Located right in the heart of downtown with tons of safe parking. While backing up to charge my vehicle the front staff came to use the card so we had free charging. Lexi and Kristen made certain we had nothing to worry about during check in. The hotel bar had some great specials and the staff was also great. Sadly eating out did not leave any room to try the food but everyone loved the pizza with as many we saw them serving. The rooms are spacious, tall ceilings and large bathrooms. Beds were great, standard Hilton quality throughout. I know where I will be staying on my next trip to Holland.
CityFlatsHotel was lovely. Loved the room, the appointments, the luxury. It was in walking distance of downtown shopping, restaurants, walking trails, and botanical gardens. We loved Holland. A beautiful, well-thought out downtown area. Everyone was friendly and proud of this charming community. If you have time, visit the wood working studios and farmers markets. Just a beautiful place to visit!
On a Michigan road trip, this was an amazing hotel stay. We had two rooms on the same floor. One room with a king bed, oddly situated but it worked - there is a division between bathroom and bedroom. Two bed bedroom had an alcove for a desk, which was perfect for the pack and play and 2 year old. Concrete floors were great. Room and bathroom clean. Staff was so very helpful. Parking lot big and safe. Downtown and close to attractions.
The hotel was perfectly located, just across from the nature walk and park, and only one block from the main street with shops, bars and restaurants. Friendly greeting at reception; two working lifts. Our room was quirky with an open concrete ceiling, two queen beds facing in different directions, TV, tea and coee making facilities, fridge. Plenty of storage space. Bathroom area with Toiletries and plenty of towels. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board. The shower was a huge walk in shower. The power of the water was a bit of a let down though. Separate wc. Nice, clean room. Downstairs was a coffee shop, selling pastries too. Breakfast was available and "fast food" style but good for the price. You could get an evening meal there too and the prices were reasonable. We didnt eat at night in the hotel. Bar open until 10pm or 1030pm. Would recommend this hotel. …
Lovely hotel with friendly and professional staff. Design of hotel and rooms is quite eye catching. Terrible mattress and cheap linens. Mattress had no support - squished to nothingness. Linens felt cheap and were rough to touch. Fitted sheet did not fit bed - sat down on bed and the corners popped off. Get up and fix. Sat down and corners pop off again. Woke up a couple times with top half of fitted sheet wrapped ard me. 2 nights of miserable sleep. Lots of dark areas that need better lighting - desk area too dark to work in.
Water pressure was low. The kitchen is limited. They are understaffed. The fan cannot be adjusted in the room- (you have to deal with the front desk). There was no radio. Rates a bit pricey. Otw our stay was good.
Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Motel 6 has a better atmosphere and customer service then this place. After traveling 13 hours and getting into our room with a 15 month old we find out there is a prom who’s main event is line dancing taking place right above our room till almost midnight. When we ask the front desk we’re told that they’re spending thousands of dollars to be here so we’re trying to make them happy. Really? Not to mention my party is spending over $3200 for our stay. That clearly doesn’t mean anything. What a joke. Worst choice in hotel I’ve ever made. Do yourself a favor and save your money and stay somewhere else. Unless your a big event, this hotel could give a crap about you.
