I just wanted to say “If you’re looking for the diamond in the rough, I’ve found it!” My husband & I stayed at the Alfresco Suites in the heart of Hastings, Michigan. This adorable boutique hotel is really special! From the fabulous Customer Service from Terri, Angela & Philip as you’re warmly welcomed to this gem to the gorgeous spacious suites with impeccable decor it’s as if you’ve traveled somewhere to...as they say... Unexpected Luxury! We stayed in the Terrace Suite & it was simply beautiful! The furnishings & accessories were reminiscent of a beautiful French Cottage. The spacious Sitting Room with a Fireplace, TV & Desk included comfortable furnishings adjacent to the most comfortable Queen size bed that felt like a cloud! The exquisite linens were a perfect way to drift off to dreamland. The Suite also included a lovely dining area complete with microwave, sink, mini frig, coffeemaker & a basket of delicious coffees, tea, hot cocoa & instant oatmeal. The china & crystal were so pretty & the atmosphere of the chandeliers added to the charm. The bathroom had its own chandelier, rainhead shower, soft fluffy towels & complimentary bath products by Zents. The Suites are on the 2nd Floor above the most fabulous shop that had so many unique items & gifts, not to mention a nice selection of delectable wines! The more you look through this shop, the more you see! Be sure to allow yourself time to browse! You’ll find so many interesting things! Our stay here was short but sweet & I can’t wait to return again next year! A very special Thank You to Terri, Angela & Philip for such a wonderful experience! I felt like Royalty!!! We look forward to seeing you again soon!

This is the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. The room we had picked to stay in was for some reason wasn't available so we got the nicest room for the lower price. (There were only 4 rooms in the hotels) It was like a furnished apartment. It was fantastic room! Two rooms actually. The staff was very nice. There was a gift store right below that had many choices ; we bought several gifts and a couple of things for ourselves. The room was so nice that they even gave both of us got a piece of chocolate! The only 2 things that I didn't like was all rooms were on the second floor and there was not an elevator. And they had no breakfast. All that was available was oatmeal and coffee in our room. Just a couple minor things. We will be back next year at this time, so we will definitely get a room here again.

I stayed in the Terrace. It was beautiful!! Pictures don't do it justice!! The staff is so welcoming and friendly! I grew up in Hastings, and had not been back in 20 years. This is THE PLACE to stay if you are traveling for any reason!! I had to leave a day early and they were 100% accommodating for the early departure!! Will definitely be back soon!!!

The room I stayed in was lovely in terms of comfort and it was extremely clean. Check in and access was made very easy. I was there for a Fri/Sat/Sun stay. Fri and Sat nights made me think I was staying at a sorority house at University of Michigan. Noisy, noisy guests until 0300 both nights. Slamming doors, drinking, yelling......
Saturday night was made much worse by an outdoor concert that was held right across the street. Shame on me for not checking the local events calendar and looking at addresses more closely. The Hastings Chamber of Commerce has event listings on their website and it's worth checking that. My room faced the street and the curtains are not blackout - the very bright street lights are very illuminating in the middle of the night. If you need/desire darkness to sleep ask for a room not facing the street. Parking is in a public municipal lot and my rental car and the car of one of my business colleagues got keyed on Friday night. Sunday night was very quiet. Something else to consider when booking a room here is internet access. My room was marginal at best and I had a hard time getting my work done efficiently. Ask for room with the best internet router connection if you are there to do business. I wish I could leave a better review - the room itself was wonderful.

We selected this location as it was close to my son who we were helping move to the area. The only room ( suite) available was the Spa room. ( doesn't suite mean more than one room?? not here!} For it to be called a suite is really stretching it. When walking into the room, wiithin a few steps you are at the end of the bed. No closet or desk. But they said there were hangers behind the bathroom door. But then if you used those hangers for your clothes, where whould you hang wet towels? No hooks anywhere else! And the biggest issue...if its called the spa suite...the spa meaning the fancy jets and all over body sprayers in the shower...BUT they didn't all work. Calcium deposits maybe, and there is supposed to be a radio in it too and that didn't work either. The little booklet given to figure out how it all worked was very lacking. Still couldn't figure it all out. And now-adays with safety being so important, the water was was too high when you used the hot, It was scalding! At the sink too. There was an area with coffee, mini frig and sink. Coffee given wasn't enough for a full pot yet no directions so we had a watered down pot of coffee, as well as jumbo size filters for a regular pot. I think they bought out the restaruant's supply of coffee filters( it closed down next door) at a close out price but they don't work! When I took a glass off the shelf, dust came flying down at me, there was an inch of dust when I ran my finger across the shelf! There was emergency lighting offered, except it didnt' work! And to make matters worse with the lack of space, they put an ironing board and iron on the back of the bathroom door, so everytime the door was moved, the board would bang on the door. The first time it freaked me out. There is a laundry room down the hall, it could be stored there or maybe even under the bed if it would fit! Then it would clear out room in the bathroom for more hooks for hanging clothes and wet towels. And there was no floor towel for this big spa shower! We arrived late so there was no one around to help with any of these issues. Its a secure building and we were given a code to get access into building and room. And the aC was very noisy! But I guess you can't help that with such a small room. June 29/30th 2013

I stayed here for two weeks on business. First week was in The Manor; Second in The Loft. As mentioned, The Manor is two big rooms: two tv's, queen bed in the master, fridge/ freezer, ironing board and iron, and the comfiest couch I ever laid upon. Furnishings are tasteful, stylish, and high-end. The photos on their website don't do it justice. There are lots of tables, chairs, etc. and plenty of room for your things- there's even a suit stand. The Loft is similar, except it is one big room. It doesn't seem small, but I was spoiled from staying in The Manor the first week. Also very well set-up and comfortable with a dining area, living room area, and bed area. The Loft is on the streetside, however, which means: 1) The streetlamps will seem REALLY bright [Pull the curtains]; and 2) You will hear a garbage truck at 4.30 or 5am three times a week- I got used to it by Friday. Seems the other complaints were about the spa suite. I didn't stay there.
There is free, fast, and reliable wifi, free parking only a block away, and the rooms are all keyless entry- It's very safe. Also, Alfresco is within walking distance of at least four really great, locally-owned restaurants; Alfresco even gives you a folder with menus in it. My only complaints would be that there is no tub, the free coffee didn't seem that great, and there were no free snacks. IMPORTANT: Not a good option for families due to all the breakable and expensive furnishings. Otherwise, I had a great stay. Also, you will be in charge of making your own bed and picking up your own towels, but there is a free washer and dryer, so you don't have to take home a suitcase full of dirty clothes!

Awesome - this is not what one would expect to find in a small town like Hastings , comfort , luxury and 5************* Accomodation at a very reasonable price. Spotlessly clean rooms and decor of the highest Quality. Certainly beats staying in format hotels . Unbelieveable well worth checking this place out 5*****************************************************

This was my second time staying at AlFresco. We stayed in the Spa Suite and were treated to a very relaxing stay. The steam shower was great and had a massage feature that felt great. The bed was very comfortable and amenities were very high quality including the Ghiradelli chocolate square that was waiting when we arrived. The TV was beautiful and had a large selection of channels. Everyone was very friendly and the store downstairs is definitely worth checking out. It is right downtown, within walking distance of bars, restaurants, and shops.

Pluses: Really outstanding interior design and materials used in the Suite. Good location within short walking distance of lots of restaurants, coffee and ice cream place, and movie theaters. Excellent amenities in the Suite (e.g., ground coffee, soap). Minuses: No furniture or space for unpacking clothes. No furniture or space for eating or working. No place to hang clothes except on wall hooks in the bathroom. Reading light only on one side of the bed. The main feature of the bathroom – a high-tech steam shower – had a broken door that didn't allow proper closure. The suite formerly was a spa area that was converted into rental space. Shoehorning the bed into this space doesn't leave room for things you'd expect, like a place to store clothes. It's passable for one night (like what we did), but a several day stay wouldn't be pleasant. I can't speak to the other Suites, but hopefully they're better equipped than the Spa Suite.

This shop has the best atmosphere! From the moment you walk in there is just so much to take in. The fantastic staff will make fresh press pots of coffee. You can either have the coffee to go or go out to the "Secert Garden" area in the back of the store.

My family and I went in there to find a wedding gift. And there were so many suggestions given. Once we settled on what to get for the gift, it was then beautifully wrapped!

When we go back to Hastings we will be making a stop back in have another amazing press pots of coffee.

"Wasn't able to see the other rooms, but this "spa suite" is very deceiving!! So not worth the money for this room with so many big and little things wrong...add up to a big waste of money!! There will be a Holiday Inn opening up soon, will go there next time now that I have family living in the area! AND this is not a place for anyone with a handicap...need to climb stairs to get to ALL rooms! No elevator! Air contiditoner very noisy, but the room was so small I guess you can't help that! Not clean, water scalding, not enough information for specialty shower."
