The Victorian home was very clean inside and out and the rooms were comfortable. But it is located on a main thoroughfare used by many heavy trucks, so more noisy than one might assume from photos. Also the house was overly-chock full of so much bric-a-brac that was almost dizzying and not a plus for me. Some of our party was not at the breakfast table at the appointed time and the host refused to serve the meal until all were present so he could say grace first. I am a Christian with nothing against prayer, but this narrow, overbearing mentality is clearly inappropriate in that setting. Also he sat with us while we ate and asked a lot of what I consider invasive questions (an issue we experienced with the hosts throughout the visit). Not the way I like to start the day!!
If you need to spend the night in Hastings or just looking for a quiet place to get away you should check out this B&B. The house is beautiful and the hosts were great. We were just there for the night but enjoyed walking around the town. Breakfast was delicious.
This is a lovely and historic home nestled in Hasting, Michigan. April and Don were so accommodating. Breakfast was excellent and they stayed to visit with us. Lovely rooms, home and innkeepers. The antique décor is stunning with meticulous attention to detail. I would highly recommend staying at the Adrounie House.
The Adrounie House Bed and Breakfast was pretty upon our late evening arrival. However, that was unfortunately the best part of our stay. The owners a bit "high strung" (busybodies fits their description well) and not very accommodating! My wife was tired in the morning, so I asked if I could take breakfast up to surprise her. The owner and his wife acted outraged like I had insulted them and the other guests with the request. I also didn't appreciate some of the comments that were made about my religion (we are Catholic and the owner was very verbally Protestant or about my wife being tired ("She better get up soon or she won't have time for church. Are you guys even really going to church??") We spent 8 hours in total at the B&B, and I can honestly say that it was 8 hours too many. We left more stressed then when we arrived, which seems contrary to the purpose of going to a B&B. Have a relaxing stay and look elsewhere. …
Really great hosts, and a very interesting 1800's house. The location is right near downtown restaurants and stores. We walked to two good restaurants. Our breakfasts were outstanding and delicious. The hosts accommodated our early rising without a hitch.
