Detailed Reviews
Based on their website Covid-19 information and the instructions we were given over the phone, we felt they were doing everything right to protect their customers.
They were checking temps at the door and making sure people had a mask on upon entering. But many people were checking in as a group and with their luggage. We were told only one person from a group can check in and luggage has to be left in the car until room keys were given. Did not see staff enforcing this.
Restaurant tables were spread apart. And we felt policies were being followed there. However, we saw housekeeping employees without masks and employees with masks pulled down near our room.
We were told the hotel rooms were almost full and the casino floor was indeed busy. All machines are on, so you may be sitting right next to someone with no plexiglass protection.
There wasn't any restrictions posted on how many people could be in the elevator. Many times we skipped getting on because there were too many already in and we didn't feel comfortable.
Their website describes in detail what touch points are being cleaned and states that multi touch areas will be sanitized consistently. We honestly only saw one employee wiping off slot machines, once.
Our room had a hair pin on the bathroom floor along with strands of hair on the floor, in the tub, and on our bed sheets. Don't see how that would have been missed since they are supposed to be doing deep cleaning.
Most of the customers didn't seem to care about following precautions either. When I was in lines for checking in, the restaurant, the guest services desk, using the kiosk, there was no 6 feet apart distancing. Self serve beverages are available with single use cups. Again, many customers were not following this and using their same cup.
Overall, we kept ourselves protected by playing slots that had no players near by and sanitizing our hands. Our visit wasn't horrible, just thought the casino and customers loosely followed precautions.

Could easily go without staying here again. Not impressed. Rooms were old, not well stocked. Not even a pen in the room. Had one small coffee pack, coffee shop closed at 1 pm, limited restaurant choices, yet they keep the gambling going. Limited towels in bath, was given a room with two beds, needed one. Not impressed.

We visited here to attend the motorcycle rally. It would have been nice if they had more hotel rooms for our members, but it looked like they had more under construction. This resort isn't really close to anything, as we had to get rooms 15 miles away for the event. We found the casino clean and the small cafe provided reasonable tasty eats for the patrons. The resort also provided a hose and towels for our members to wash their bikes, as the weather didn't cooperated for a portion of the rally. The gambling machines were tight to say the least, but we still had a good time.

We stayed here a few weeks back and had such a great visit that we decided to come back for our anniversary. Not thinking that it was a holiday weekend l only booked the room for one night. We decided we would like to stay for another night however the hotel was full. Joseph, our check-in agent let us know that the property was completely booked due to the holiday weekend. I let him know that we were repeat guests and it was our anniversary. He enlisted the help of his supervisor Rhonda, to see if she could help. She did a deep search and discovered a cancellation and booked the extension right away. We really appreciate the extra effort and care that led to them fulfilling our request. We will continue to return here and enjoy this amazing property. The Horizons Steakhouse is amazing! We had cocktails at the 12th story bar and enjoyed the upscale dining experience overlooking the Sweet Grass Golf Course. Our meal was exquisite. Thanks for making our visit memorable!

We arrived to our room late in the evening after gambling and found that between the beds there were chips and fruit on the floor, the toilet ran all night, and there was no lightbulb in our lamp next to the bed. We knew there was no way anyone would come up and clean the room late at night.
So in the morning as we were checking out we told the supervisor at the front desk
and she informed us that someone would give us a call.
To date no calls. Very disappointed in the service here.
Limited restaurant service and you are at least 10 miles from closest restaurants.

Booked two nights for a family reunion in the U.P. and was a surprising WOW! We did book a suite (cost was only $164!) and everything was great....spacious, comfortable bed, 1.5 baths, fridge, microwave, and GREAT water pressure for the shower. LOTS of restaurant and bar options on site. Mistakenly was seated at the 5 Bridges hi-end restaurant when we thought we were going to the bar, and that food was only so-so, but that's another review! Had asked when I confirmed the reservation if the room had a refrigerator and the person at the desk said he was new, but he'd make a note. Upon arrival, the person checking us in said they were out of refrigerators, but when we got to the room, there was a nice sized one there! (Perhaps staff needs some training on what is standard in the rooms?). Staff at hotel, casino, and pro shop were all very friendly. Golf course was awesome (another review!). Yes, the fact that the hotel is right on the line between eastern and central time was a bit of a challenge, and we joked the whole stay we never knew what time it was, but who cares when you are on vacation!! Would definitely make this a vacation destination for golf in the future. Looks like they are putting in a water park which will only enhance the family stay. No smell of cigarettes as another review stated, but due to COVID, everything was non-smoking. I hope they keep it that way!

Stayed at the Island Resort and Casino for a Saturday night, in order to take advantage or new construction hotel wing and indoor water park with my granddaughter. The new hotel rooms are actually very nice. We had a Double Queen room on the seventh floor. No complaints about the room whatsoever, would have been perfect if a small fridge and microwave were included. The water park itself is also nice. It’s nowhere near the scale of the Kalahari at Wisconsin Dells, but for the only act in town in a rural setting, it was rather nice. Very large double water slide for the big kids, a rather nice 3-4ft deep pool for general play, a lazy river, and lastly a small kid dual water slide and play area. There’s also a separate pool area for age 18+ use only. Didn’t go in there with a granddaughter in tow. Being the only act in town on a Saturday, it was rather crowded, but not unmanageably so. By 6pm it became nice when the day trippers began to leave. My granddaughter had a great time, and that was the mission, so I was pleased.

We were there for bear convention the play money was not available the lady at front desk was absolutely rude so I went to a different person her name was Ashley and she was wonderful, There was no non smoking in casino or the bar.
The elevator broke so was super ordeal to get out. We traveled 6 hrs to get there and its a expensive weekend for convention so there were hundreds of bear conv people staying and everyone got jipped out of there play money. Not a huge deal but if added up it's pretty good amount. Because the elevator was down to one we got back to our room to get our stuff at 10:50 and our keys were already deactivated so turned into another 1/2 hr ordeal to go get activated. We stayed last year and it was a way better experience this year was horrible

My husband and I stayed for three days. The whirlpool room was large and very clean! The casino was clean and had lots of machines available.
My only complaints were that the restaurants were very limited on Monday and Tuesday (in fairness, they do let you know that on the website), and the bathroom had no hooks to hang up your towels-none-which seems simple but you typically don’t want to fold up a wet towel to use later. No hook for a hand towel either. Other than that, a great stay, good food in the open restaurants, friendly staff.

Put us in a room right above casino floor the window over looked casino games. The music could be heard all night had to run the cooling fan just to cover the sound. This was an off season week night, feel these rooms should be over flows not for someone paying with no coupons or comp points just spending a couple of nights for a relaxing trip. Further more to get to the pool we had to go through the casino floor. Also no informative information in our room with restaurants or other amenities.

Hello Sarah! We do not allow pets at the hotel or resort. Thank your for your question.
Yes, and they said they may stay smoke free for the foreseeable future... also casino was smoke free when I visited
Sorry, I don't know
Escanaba MI, about 12 miles from casino.
Yes there are shuttles to most hotels in Escanaba. But call the hotel or casino and ask if the one you want to stay in is serviced. Friends stayed in the Comfort Inn Suites and shuttled. Another option is check for bus trips from your area to the Island and see if they have any openings. Buses usually book a large number (48 to 57) rooms and then try to sell the trips through web sites, senior newspapers or travel guides. Good luck you will enjoy the resort as it's one of the nicer ones in Michigan
