The Leonard at Logan House is a Grand Rapids, Michigan Bed & Breakfast in a historic inn providing an alternative to hotel lodging. We are located on Logan Street in the middle of one of the largest urban historic districts in the country, the Heritage Hill neighborhood. Our guests enjoy comfortable beds, gracious rooms, and modern conveniences during their stay in this turn-of-the-century mansion. The Leonard at Logan House was constructed in 1914 during a span of history known for social change, prosperity, and optimism. The home was energized by an influential Grand Rapids family, The Harry C. Leonards. The design of the home shows the Leonard family’s down-to-earth class and love for their guests. Whether in town for business or pleasure, a single night at the Leonard at Logan Bed & Breakfast will exceed your expectations while filling you with fond memories.
I spent three nights at the Leonard at Logan B&B for a short visit to Grand Rapids before heading north. I stayed in the Kings Keep room on the third floor – so lots of stairs, but very quiet. The room was spacious, as was the ensuite bathroom. The bed was comfortable. Wifi worked great. It was an easy drive from the Grand Rapids airport. The home is located in a residential, quiet area with other large and historic homes. The room and bathroom were clean. But what I liked most, was the hospitality and the delicious and substantial breakfasts. The large breakfast really kept me going throughout the day. Ruth was also lovely to send me with freshly-made muffins one morning, which I enjoyed for a late lunch. Additionally, there were snacks, sodas and coffee in the breakfast room, which guests were welcome to.
While I ventured out during the pandemic to do some travelling in Michigan, I felt covid-19 safe at the B&B. The common rooms were large and well ventilated, and thus easy to maintain a 6 foot distance, and there was a purifying air system to help, as well as I wore a mask. There are also tables outside in the garden area, for those who would rather have breakfast outside. Many thanks to Ruth and Ken for your warm and welcoming hospitality.
I was traveling to Grand Rapids 2 days a month for 18 months. After a couple of stays at local hotels, I booked a room at The Leonard at Logan House Bed & Breakfast because my wife was joining me for her birthday get away. We had a wonderful stay! The owners Ruth, Ken and manager Kailey are warm, wonderful people who put you at ease right away. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have a homey feeling you can't get at a hotel. The breakfasts were wonderful!! There are many tried and true breakfast regulars ( fresh fruit, egg dishes, potatoes and french toast or pancakes) as well as baked oatmeal, scones or other baked goods and a yogurt bar with numerous toppings. There is a wide variety of hot and cold drinks available at breakfast and throughout your stay. Fresh baked cookies and other wonderful baked goods are usually available throughout the day.
The Inn is located in the Heritage Hill neighborhood which is a quiet, safe historic district that has a wide range of architectural styles. This is a great neighborhood to stroll through and enjoy the sights. One block away is the Meyer May House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright that is open for tours a couple of days per week. There are also many good restaurants and entertainment venues close by.
After our first stay at the Leonard at Logan House, my wife decided to join me for the remainder of my trips to Grand Rapids and we made it our home away from home. If you are planing to spend time in the Grand Rapids area, I highly recommend booking a stay at the Leonard at Logan House.
The awesome:
Beautiful old home that has been lovingly restored and maintained. The neighborhood is pretty and architecturally interesting. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were tasty and well prepared.
The not so awesome:
Owners NEVER wear a mask: not while greeting guests, not while preparing food, and not while serving food. I doubt any restaurant in Michigan would pass today’s standards by doing this. Also the toiletries provided in each room were common use. I other words the next people in our room will be sharing the land lotion bottle we were provided. None of this is a big deal in normal times but these are not normal times.
If these issues are not important to you, this is a great place to stay. If they are, then I would search further.

The room was great, the shower was huge, the bed was very comfortable. The 1st floor was completely open for guests with plenty of space to relax, play games, or read. Breakfast was outstanding with bakery goods, eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage. The $1,000,000 coffee maker did everything from espresso, to cappuccino and everything in between, I need one of those. The host couple showed us around the house, we’re very nice, and very informative. This place is a gem!

We recently enjoyed 2 nights at this beautifully decorated home. Ken and Ruth are excellent hosts! Prior to our stay, I contacted them to inquire if they would be able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. They were very helpful and provided delicious dishes that were compliant. I greatly appreciate that! Baked goods and beverages are available throughout the day. Our room was spacious and comfortable and serviced daily. It is conveniently located to several restaurants. There’s a Frank Lloyd Wright house to tour that is less than a block away. Reservations are needed, but it’s free. We have stayed at many B&Bs over the years and this one is outstanding!

Absolutely delightful, tastefully appointed historical home to stay in Heritage Hill, very near downtown GR. Very affordably priced compared to other accommodations, especially given the lavish breakfast and very thoughtful amenities such as fresh fruit, baked snacks, coffee and soft drinks all day. Common areas are spacious and inviting. Beautiful garden area too enjoy outside, and wonderful hosts. Wholeheartedly recommend this gem of a place.

This was our second time here in a couple of years. It was just as good as we remembered. Ken and Ruth are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is fabulous and you won't need to eat until dinner! The room we had this time was Sir Charles. It was a nice size with it's own bathroom and shower. The sink is outside the bathroom with plenty of counter space. The King bed was firm but not too bad. The room has an air conditioner vent but also has standing fans which were needed since it's on the second floor and it was quite warm the two days we were there. The towels are fluffy and they freshen the room each day. There is a 24/7 coffee station which includes a mini fridge filled with many choices of beverages. There is always fruit, cookies, pastries and a variety of snacks available. The neighborhood is nice for walking. The bike trails are nearby. The area is quiet even with a main street nearby. This is one of our favorite places to stay!…

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Leonard. It is located in the beautiful Heritage Hills neighborhood of East Grand Rapids, and it is close to many wonderful restaurants and attractions. Ken and Ruth were ideal innkeepers. And, Ruth's breakfasts were delicious and generous. Our room was quiet, spacious, and comfortable in every way. The public spaces were also pleasant places to relax and read. This was our first trip to Grand Rapids, but hopefully it will not be our last trip. We would definitely return to The Leonard on future visits.

We have stayed in multiple Bed and Breakfasts across the nation. Leonard at Logan is one of our top 2! The host (Ken) makes you feel at home from the first step into the house when they give you a tour of the house, in the morning serving you a fabulous variety of tasteful foods for breakfast which includes a yogurt bar, until you checkout. There is a sunroom with something to "nibble" on 24/7 including a coffee/tea maker and cold drinks. The rooms are well-appointed and extremely clean with comfortable beds. Parking was a nonissue in front of the house. The house is in a quiet neighborhood with LOTS of old refurbished historical homes. Lovely place to walk around and take in the fabulous houses. We will be back to Leonard at Logan!

We were going to celebrate our 6 year anniversary in another city since we live in Holland. We wanted to stay at a local bed and breakfast and found this gem. The owners were delightful the breakfast was great and the history of the home and the neighborhood was amazing. Had a great dinner less than 5 blocks away and enjoyed great cups of expresso and lattes. Would not only recommend but would go back again. Great People, Great Place and most important a tie to the history of Grand Rapids.
