Let me start by saying I can be a hard to please traveler, not necessarily picky, but I also know what good customer service looks like ;). As a Hilton Diamond member, my husband and I have stayed at Hiltons (quite literally) around the world and my recent stay here ranks as one of my favorites at a Hilton hotel. I traveled here for one night with my 4 young kids and we stayed in a suite with 2 queen beds with a balcony and water view. For starters, the room was quite spacious and very well appointed.
During our stay we utilized the pool, hot tub, and ordered room service. The pool is nicely designed in the shape of Michigan and boasted an indoor/outdoor hot tub that was large and featured a view of the Grand River. We visited during a busy weekend, but pool area was always clean, well managed, and never out of towels.
We ordered room service for dinner and the portions were generous, the service friendly and quick, and the food delicious.
The breakfast was also well staffed and well made. I appreciated that the food was quickly refilled and empty dishes were swiftly picked up. The buffet had nice options and my made to order omelet was delicious.
All in all, I highly recommend this hotel whether you are traveling with family, as a couple, or individual it has exemplary aesthetics and, most importantly, impeccable customer service. I will definitely be staying here again as well as recommending it to anyone looking for a remarkable hotel experience in Grand Rapids.

Loved this place! I would definitely recommend to a friend. It sounds s nicely decorated with lots of spots to enjoy the river view and a bottle of wine that could be purchased on premises. The Merlot was nice! We also enjoyed the happy hour with complimentary drinks and the wonderful breakfast (there were even chefs making omelets)!! I also enjoyed the indoor/outdoor hot tub. It was so nice to be able to go outdoors without leaving the steamy water. I do hope to stay again!

I booked a King 1-bedroom suite with a balcony facing the river for 5 nights. The bed was very comfortable for us. The living room was large and had plenty of space to lounge as well as a table for us to eat and work at. The view was wonderful and the temperature was very comfortable in the late evenings for sitting outside on the balcony. The bathroom was very spacious with plenty of space on the sides of the sink to put toiletries. The walk-in shower was large and had a great shower head attached to the ceiling that was high enough for taller people, such as myself, to easily fit under it. There was a second shower head that can be hand-held as well as positioned to be a fixed one. The TV offered some streaming services, although we were unable to stream a movie that we purchased on YouTube on one of our phones to the TV for whatever reason, so we just watched it on my tablet instead.

The night life seems a bit chaotic considering that we are still in a pandemic because I was seeing groups of 10+ gathering by the riverfront and was hearing loud music as well as glass bottles being thrown onto the parking lot across the street. I also did not see anyone wearing face coverings in those gatherings, so it seems that they were not being cautious about getting sick. I saw other hotel guests not wearing face coverings in the lobby despite signs being posted that they are required. One of the guests was actually at the front desk talking to a staff member without a face covering, although they might have been told at that point that they needed one. Most other guests had face coverings that I saw.

I probably would stay here again if I take another small vacation to the area. I recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to have a large suite with a balcony so they have plenty of space to relax.

Stayed at this property for a few days on a recent visit to Grand Rapids. Staff was very friendly, but we were not informed ahead of our arrival that no housekeeping services would be offered more frequently than every three days, and then by appointment only. Unclear whether this was a business decision to lower overhead costs, an effort to minimize risk of COVID-19 spread, or both. Also ran out of hand sanitizer at the breakfast location and ran out of some food stuff (bagels, cream cheese, etc) The omlets were very good however, and the cooking staff very friendly and accommodating. All that being said, the entire staff was obviously trying their best to make their guests comfortable.

We stayed for a week here in June and probably won’t return. I realize with the COVID the staff is short handed but common areas weren’t cleaned except for the lobby floor which I saw a guy doing for an hour in the middle of check in.

The rooms are no longer cleaned daily, you have to request it and it may or may not happen. The breakfast is unorganized. The dude cooking was doing his best but sometimes you wait for half an hour as each group is completed. Occasionally there are two but the wait is the same. The only self serve items are toast and coffee. It’s a major pain.

I too had the weed smell constantly. Usually from the park across the street where the shooting was but in the elevators too. Definitely leave the balcony door closed!

Embassy can’t take responsibility for their guests. I get that but, man spray out those elevators occasionally!

When we arrived the room was clean and the check in staff was great. Sometimes they aren’t there for long periods but again, they are short staffed.

We stayed here for a wedding in September. We’ve traveled quite a bit throughout the years & rarely have we been to a hotel that we’d rate higher. From setting up specific reservation details until check out – the staff at this Embassy Suites surpassed all expectations.

First, there were many family members here with different room needs. We all also needed to check in a bit early as the wedding was 1 hour after the usual 4:00 check-in and were all coming from several hours away. After speaking with Sonya a day before our arrival, we all were set up in the best rooms for each party and all set for early check in. Honestly, I’ve dealt with hundreds of travels professionals over the years for both personal and business travel and Sonya was one of the very best. Patient, accommodating, cheerful and happy to help. All of those qualities are rarely found these days. A true gem for this hotel and I’m more than happy to recognize her specifically!

The check-in staff was helpful, explaining the parking situation/garage, elevators (key card required for your floor), breakfast times, etc. Minor note here – we were not greeted or mentioned as Hilton Honors members & had to request water & were charged for it – but that’s minor with all of the other positives. Beautiful open & spacious lobby is very welcoming. They do have a bar/restaurant area – and a saltwater pool which we did not get to enjoy due to time constraints.

Our rooms were exceptional – clean – well appointed and roomy. Having a room overlooking the river with a balcony was worth it. The area is beautiful and you look out at the river and a park on the riverside. The bathrooms had several lighting options (great for final makeup touches) and a wonderful rainfall shower as one part of the shower. The beds & pillows were very comfortable. Having a suite with the separate living room and 2 televisions can be helpful when needed.

Breakfast in the morning was really spectacular. Made to order omelets and pancakes, as well as multiple egg choices, meats, potatoes, oatmeal, muffins & sweet breads, and the usual cold breakfast items. The staff working the area, refilling foods, etc. were also very friendly and helpful. Very customer centered.

My only disappointment was that we didn’t stay another night to enjoy all of the hotel amenities, the area and just relax! Five stars all around!

I have stayed in many hotels with that 'new' smell, but sometimes they suffer from not being 'up and running' and exactly humming. This was not the case: the service and amenities offered were as superb as the physical building and the rooms. The location on the waterfront really gives a sense of place, and there are upscale and hip dinner and breakfast places within a short walking distance.

Very nice hotel. Hotel was clean, in a good location, comfortable beds, large suites, small pool and hot tub, great breakfast and friendly staff. Our room faced a construction site which didn’t allow for any sleeping in during our stay. While this is not in control of the hotel, it would’ve been nice to be warned and our room somewhat discounted. Dump trucks, gravel being moved and dumped, pounding, etc. all started at 7am. Parking is $20/day which is expensive. Perhaps in the future they can validate the parking for a discounted rate. We were told when making the reservation through the 1-800 number that parking was $20 for the whole stay, but clearly that was incorrect. I told them this when we checked in, but they said it was $20/night and we’re not willing to adjust the price for me. A good experience, but be sure to request the rooms facing the street and be prepared to pay for parking.

My niece got married in Grand Rapids. All of the family that came down (we live in the UP, others came from different cites in MI and even from different states) stayed at the Embassy Suites. Almost all of us were able to get on the same floor which was fantastic! The check in staff were great, very helpful and friendly. The rooms were awesome- my husband and sons loved the showers with water coming from the ceiling as they are all tall. (I'm short but I liked it, too) The grandchildren enjoyed the pool. Also, the make to order breakfast was delicious. The scrambled eggs with cheese and the bacon were cooked perfectly (and I'm picky about my bacon). We don't get to Grand Rapids very often but will definitely stay here again when we do.

The hotel lobby and common areas were nice. Room was pretty nice. Only noticeable problem was a little bit of mildew or mold in the shower but clean otherwise. We were there for 4 days I think and never saw housekeeping the whole time. It was never explained at check-in that there is no housekeeping any more under COVID. So we would up re-using the same towels, ran out of soap/shampoo, and had trash piling up in our room which was kind of unpleasant but we kind of guessed that maybe there was no housekeeping due to pandemic. Breakfast was generally good, however the staff had trouble keeping up with demand on Saturday and there was a giant line for the omelet station. This forced us to grab cold stuff for the morning. The worst part of our experience was how we were treated by the bar staff on our last night. A large group of us were gathered on the outdoor patio in the late evening when a staff member informed us that he was closing the patio. I guess we didn't move quickly enough for his liking, because he lost patience with us and told us to "GO THE F**K INSIDE". I was absolutely shocked at his choice of language to paying cusotmers. When I asked him for his name, he twice refused to identify himself. I am a long time customer with Hilton and have never in 30 years been handled in such a way.

There is an indoor pool. The hot tub is outside on a deck area. It is under a roof so it is not a problem if the weather is bad. The hotel is fabulous.
