The Boyden House was an excellent escape from hibernating at my home in Kentucky for months. They are taking appropriate precautions in light of the Covid pandemic. Masks are required in common areas, frequently sanitizing and providing hand sanitizer, delicious plated breakfasts have replaced the buffet. I stayed in the Amber room which has a lovely small balcony. This was the perfect place to distance from crowds and enjoy carry out meals or even craft beers from the breweries. Although there were not the usual crowds, it was nice to have a private place to enjoy the outdoors. Shelly, the hostess, was welcoming and full of information about the local area. I have stayed in two other inns in the Grand Haven area, The Boyden House is my new favorite due to the higher quality facility, convenient location, and warm service.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Boyden House Inn. We stayed in the executive suite on the second floor which was a beautiful room with wooden floors, a fireplace, and a multi window view of the front lawn. Coffee was available around 8am and breakfast was served at 9am each day. Each meal was unique and delicious. We had a reserved table on the beautiful front patio we sat at each morning. Shelly was who we communicated with throughout our stay and was very friendly and helpful. The walk to downtown and all the restaurants and shops on the main street took us about 10 minutes. We loved seeing all the amazing homes down the streets on our walks. The walk to the beach took a little longer (about 25-30 minutes) but a very easy drive if you prefer not to walk. The landscaping around the Boyden House Inn is beautiful and there is a relaxing koi pond in the back. We even got to see a couple of deer hanging out in the front lawn one night! If you are in Grand Haven I highly recommend the Boyden House Inn.

My husband and I love to walk when we visit cities and the Boyden House is a 5 min walk into town. The neighborhood is beautiful, well lit, and we always felt safe walking back at night. We stayed in the Safari Den room that is quite spacious, but I must admit it needs a new paint job. Its so dark in that room even with the lights on and blinds open. Some furniture could use replacing, there were some noticeable rips in the fabrics. I will say though the Safari Den room seemed private away from other rooms a bit and with nothing but the kitchen and dining area below us we never felt like we weren't disturbing anyone. Our host and Innkeeper Shelly, was so great! Always greeted you with a smile and gave us the inside scoop of what was happening downtown. My only other suggestion to the management is to maybe list on a board what will be served at breakfast in the morning. We had baked Oatmeal and yogurt and my husband was not a fan, we probably would have skipped it if we would have known ahead of time. So some pros and cons but nothing that we felt ruined our stay and we would absolutely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay but would make a different choice next time.
The host was wonderfully gregarious and helpful. The air conditioning was great and it was in a quiet part of the residential area. It was a bit of a walk to town but we got to see some lovely areas.

What we wish were different; Good breakfast but it was salty, water wasn't served and there was no toast or muffins etc. but toast and water were given when requested. The fruit was great. There was only an half hr window to eat.
For the price we thought there would be a better mattress and pillows. The shower was difficult.
Our room was otherwise very pleasant though didn't darken at night so bring a mask. Also we could not get closed captions to work on the TV so could not watch.
It's a very interesting home and we enjoyed seeing it.
Thanks

The Boyden House was the best accommodation we could have hoped for. A few of us had a getaway for a girls weekend and our room was lovely, Shelly was awesome with any questions we had, breakfast was amazing and the hospitality was top notch! Shelly made our visit the very best. They served breakfast outside, very spread out from other rooms, staggered times, and everything was very clean. Shelly and the other guests wore masks at all times and we felt very safe. Great location too ! Short walk to major attractions and a garage to store bike rentals if needed. Enough parking for all guests too.

Boyden House looks nice from the outside, great front porch. BUT it’s falling apart. The chair in our room had four extremely wobbly legs and I feared it would break if I sat in it. The sofa in the common room sunk to the floor when sat in. Some people call old charming but here it’s uncomfortable and unsafe. Blinds in our room were broken.
Breakfast is one option served from 9:00-9:30 with no flexibility. Not very accommodating.

My teenage daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights as we traveled around Michigan. The House is beautiful from the outside, and I absolutely love the front porch. Shelly was very welcoming, and it smelled like her afternoon chocolate chip cookies when we arrived. Everything we could have needed was in the room. We stayed in the safari den. Parking is very convenient. Within walking distance to downtown, although we did drive. Would recommend!

Stayed at the Boyden House over the 4th this year, in the honeymoon room. Pros: great location… easy walk of 7 blocks to main downtown. Honeymoon room has its own entrance and small private balcony. Shelley was friendly and made a good breakfast. Cons: room is very tired… furniture and bed are old and need replacing. Small frig in room would be ideal since only frig is a steep 2nd floor up in main house. Carpeting is old brown shag. Blinds in definite need of repair. Water pressure in shower is very low and takes a long time to heat up.

This is a beautiful bed and breakfast and the location was excellent to walk to downtown. The room was very clean and comfortable. My complaint is that the breakfast was the skimpiest breakfast I have ever experienced at a bed and breakfast especially considering the cost to stay here. The breakfast consisted of yogurt with granola and fruit and a couple of slices of ham. We did walk to a wonderful bakery for a cinnamon roll because we were still hungry. This will probably keep me from staying here again.
