The English Inn is located about ten minutes South of East Lansing. It's the former home of an auto baron, built in the late 20's. There are rooms in the old house, where we stayed, but there are outlying cottages with what you could call updated fixtures and comforts. The Inn has a restaurant on the main floor (I'll post... We had never visited this part of Michigan before and found the area to be delightful. The English Inn has quite a history and was a great venue for a wedding. Rooms vary from the main manor house to new cottages to a home with shared common rooms and private bedrooms. We stayed in the home with other wedding guests.... More

My husband has wanted to take me here for years, and we finally got the chance last weekend. We chose the Bath room not because it is the least expensive but because hello! The main room is a bathroom! With a chandelier! And a dining table! And that's insane! Well it was insane, but in a marvelous marvelous way. The... More

We celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary. We had heard lots about this beautiful, peaceful place. It was all true. We stayed in the Somerset room. Wonderful. Extremely friendly staff and very efficient. All the glasses/cups we were served were either chilled or warm--depending on what we had. The butter for your croissant was warm. Dinner was a nice slow paced... More

My partner and I were going to be celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary and the pressure was on to make everything perfect. You know the situation, you try something new, spend a couple extra bucks and put all the pressure of success on those around you. Eric and his team did a fantastic job from begging to end!! I can't... More

We stayed in the Royal Croquet Cottage. It is one of six built two years ago and very much different than the restored rooms in the main building. If we return we would stay in the cottages further down the hill like Toffee or Dove because of better views. These cottages were probably designed by a man. Though the jetted... More

We were given a 1 night stay here for my husbands birthday. Although this is beautiful form the outside the inside needs work. The bed in our room was really loose and the bathroom had hair on the wall of the shower. There was duct tape on the shade in our room also. The food was excellent for dinner and... More

We stayed for one night in the "Bath" suite. It is the least expensive suite for a reason. It is small and you enter through a large bathroom which was a little strange but fine. The problem was the room sits next to a really loud generator. It was turned off at night but very distracting while it was on.... More

Wonderful stay, the house is so charming.. The staff goes out of their way to be accommodating.. A must visit to this B&B...dinner was out of this world... The birthday celebration went off with candles and fire. The food had such a great presentation and the taste is five stars.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Occasionally, when you may least expect it, you come across a spot in the world where time seems to have stood still, where graciousness of spirit and personal attention to detail still thrive, where the hustle and bustle of the modern world are shut and the lingering taste of a good Burgundy on your palate is all that matters. The English Inn is just such a place. ... more   less
