I knew from talking to Michel while making this reservations that this would not be an ordinary hotel stay, but much more. Very personal service and accommodations made me feel like a “neighbor” in this lovely area, not just a visitor. I cannot express enough thanks to Harriet for her hospitality during our stay. She gave us dining recommendations, walking directions, and even helped us out one night when we’d locked ourselves out of our room. She is truly an asset to the Lodge and the community. We stayed in one of the rooftop cabins and were extremely comfortable. The location is quiet and we were not bothered by traffic noise/sirens/ etc. We had a nice little in-room refrigerator we were able to keep stocked with snacks purchased from a local market within walking distance. We were able to easily visit the DIA and the Eastern Market from this location. Two “musts” in the area. The physical building and grounds are a treasure to the area. It’s so wonderful to see a building slated for demolition get repurposed to help revitalize the community. I consider this hotel a rare gem and will stay there every time I visit Detroit.

Decided to venture out and enjoy a weekend in Detroit despite the pandemic shutdowns. The El Moore was a beautiful home base. We stayed in a comfortable rooftop cabin with lovely views. Restaurants/dining is a challenge but Michael provided great recommendations. The area is safe, walkable and the architecture is interesting. The midtown location provides quick access to the rest of the city. Highly recommend the El Moore Lodge to anyone visiting the city for business or pleasure.

I just loved my stay here for 5 nights. It was such a refreshing change after many souless hotels. The staff and local community are a fountain of knowledge on the local area and are more than willing to help. The Palour room was a great opportunity to enjoy conversations and coffee! I hope I can return.

From the minute we pulled in the driveway, we knew we had made a great choice to stay here! We were warmly welcomed and encouraged to enjoy the parlor, complete with coffee and tea (all day), anytime we wanted. The room we stayed in, The Kasem, was perfect - comfy bed, nicely decorated and a great view of the El Moore Gardens. We did enjoy the parlor, reading and coffee, before our walk to dinner. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. We called an Uber to get us to/from Little Caesars Arena - easy, quick trip. The parlor at the El Moore has a very calming feel to it - easy listening music playing softly in the background, comfy chairs and good lighting. The owners have thought of everything in terms of attempting to be environmentally responsible - you see it, but understand it more when you read the website. The whole place is full of history, Detroit history. What the El Moore offers is beautiful....offering community to their residences, guests and the public (with their events in the Gardens). When we checked out Sunday AM, we were once again greeted by a very friendly employee. We hope to stay at the El Moore this summer when we go to Detroit again.
