I just loved my stay here for 5 nights. It was such a refreshing change after many souless hotels. The staff and local community are a fountain of knowledge on the local area and are more than willing to help. The Palour room was a great opportunity to enjoy conversations and coffee! I hope I can return.

From the minute we pulled in the driveway, we knew we had made a great choice to stay here! We were warmly welcomed and encouraged to enjoy the parlor, complete with coffee and tea (all day), anytime we wanted. The room we stayed in, The Kasem, was perfect - comfy bed, nicely decorated and a great view of the El Moore Gardens. We did enjoy the parlor, reading and coffee, before our walk to dinner. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. We called an Uber to get us to/from Little Caesars Arena - easy, quick trip. The parlor at the El Moore has a very calming feel to it - easy listening music playing softly in the background, comfy chairs and good lighting. The owners have thought of everything in terms of attempting to be environmentally responsible - you see it, but understand it more when you read the website. The whole place is full of history, Detroit history. What the El Moore offers is beautiful....offering community to their residences, guests and the public (with their events in the Gardens). When we checked out Sunday AM, we were once again greeted by a very friendly employee. We hope to stay at the El Moore this summer when we go to Detroit again.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience at a reasonable price. There is so much positive, I don't know where to start. The lodge is located in Midtown that is undergoing a renaissance with many restaurants and bars and a bowling alley near Wayne State University. We had the Moore Suite and our son and daughter in law had a cozy garden level bunk bed room. The suite was not huge but roomy with a kitchen. The full size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was roomy with an excellent shower. Dispensers of soap, shampoo and lotion were supplied that were very nicely scented. The bunk room was for younger, adventurous people. Kids would love it. Your private bathroom is separate from the bunk room. We got a tour of the rooftop cabins. Wow!! They are a modern addition placed on top of the building. They have wood slat walls and glass walls on two sides giving a panoramic view of the city. The organic continental breakfast had no protein on one day and a quiche another day, but it was delicious. The cherry coffee cake and granola with dried cherries is out if this world. Even the whole wheat English muffins were great. Coffee, juice, and fresh fruit were all tasty. The hostesses at the front desk were amazing. Harriet and Myeea were super friendly and helpful. We met a couple of residents too that were warm and welcoming. We had long and fun talks with the staff and guests. The lobby is comfortable and stocked with interesting books about Detroit. Speaking of Detroit, Midtown and Downtown are undergoing a renaissance. A modern tram is a short walk from the El Moore. For $2 you can ride it straight downtown. Buses also run along the tram line lane. Once downtown there is an elevated people mover that gives you a ride over downtown for 75¢. Downtown is unrecognizable from 10 years ago. It is modern and lively with bars, restaurants and historic buildings. We had a great time at the El Moore and in Detroit.
