Stayed one night at this hotel. The workers were all very kind and entrance and elevators were clean. Very glad I only stayed a night though... The price of this hotel is not worth what you get! Stayed in a suite, which needed new paint, a ceiling light looked like it was ready to come off, jacuzzi didn’t look that clean . And corners of all wood furniture in room looked scraped. Definitely needed updating and was not worth the price to stay here…. They advertise late night dining however they do not have that .
We stayed at The Atheneum in Detroit for one night as we were attending a concert at Little Caesars Arena. The staff was super friendly. The hotel itself was quite pretty, although needed a good deep cleaning. One thing I noticed was all of the dust on their fake plants/foliage, There were a lot of these plants throughout the hotel and they were super dusty. Our room was nice. A separate living area with a TV, mini fridge, desk, couch and chair. The bathroom was quite large and clean. The bedroom was spacious, beds clean and comfortable. There were, however, fingerprints on the mirrored closet, and a few pieces of bacon on the carpet. Obviously, the floors had not been vacuumed very well. All in all it was a good stay, I just wished things had been cleaner, especially in these times of Covid. Parking was valet or you could just park in a parking ramp right across the street for $25/day. Location was good. Many good restaurants nearby and walkable to Little Caesars Arena, Ford Field, and Comerica Park. Quite a few panhandlers and such hanging around the general area, but that’s Greektown for ya. We never felt unsafe even walking back after the concert at night. We would stay again.…
Never again. The purpose of the reservation was to enjoy a safe environment after celebrating a friend's birthday in downtown Detroit. I didn't feel safe after a strange encounter with hotel security. Felt extremely targeted and unwelcomed.
Our first experience of the hotel was the valet driving wildly through the parking garage. We saw him drive separate vehicles at very high speeds and squealing the tires. One of our rooms spelled like smoke (the staff did say the would come spray), had a huge fake nail on the floor, and a half drank bottle of water under the chair. During the night our room started to smell like weed. Having little kids with us made that extremely concerning. The noise outside was so loud with cars basically drag racing. I would say the cleanliness was the worst part. Although the website said there was free continental breakfast there wasn’t because of covid. Overall not impressed and wouldn’t stay again.
The hotel was beautiful and the staff was extremely courteous and kind. The room was well taken care of, gorgeous and clean —loved it! However, a couple issues at the hotel were problematic and one being a safety concern. We stayed on the 8th level that reeked of marijuana, which made it difficult to breathe if you have asthma. Young people were hanging outside the hotel asking for money. We were surprised the hotel allowed for this to happen. It was rather scary when coming home late from a Tigers game that people not staying there were outside pestering guests. To top it off, the noise outside the room on the road was loud and sounded like a drag race all night. We were unable to sleep. We stayed in Greek town three years ago and couldn’t get over how quiet and safe it was then. This time it was the opposite and quite frightening when walking around at night.…
