Our flight got delayed, delayed, then finally cancelled.. so, instead of getting an Uber to take us to and from a hotel, we decided to get a room right at the airport. Fairly pricy, but clean and comfy. They allowed late check-out, which was very helpful due to our new flight time, and you have your own TSA check-in line when returning to the airport. It was very convenient. The atrium area is also beautiful. I would stay here again if in the same situation.
Great hotel, convenient and clean. They have a security gate inside the hotel which allows you to go through without a line. That’s a nice feature. They have resumed room service and wow…it was very, very good. Came to the room hot and fresh. We ordered a spicy chicken sandwich that was to die for. A Caesar salad and peach cobbler. All were top notch! Don’t miss the Westin room service and order the spicy chicken sandwich. I don’t like too much spice and it was just perfect!
Beautiful hotel conveniently located in the McNamara terminal. Very expensive accommodations. Room was clean. HVAC was only moderately effective in cooling the room. The only accessories in the bathroom was one small bar of soap. Nothing else. Discussion with the front desk on this revealed no interest from the front desk to address it. We booked the room for two occupants but there was only one bath robe. Geez! Dinner at their restaurant was expensive and disappointing. Their “gourmet chicken gumbo” was not prepared by the chef, as we were originally told. It was from a can (per the waiter) and just barely heated. Not very tasty and had virtually no chicken. The “superfood” salad was ok, but very small. Had an order of French fries to help fill us up. Likely will NOT book this hotel again.…
The Westin is extremely convenient when flying out of Detroit. Although, the hotel is old, stuffy and in desperate need of a remodel. I would definitely suggest staying somewhere else. The lobby is wonderfully decorated. The rooms however need to be updated.
You walk in and it looks like you are in a sci-if movie. Very cool! If flying out of Detroit, a must stay. Rooms were nice and next door to each other with a connecting door (mother loved that). Crib was a crib with bars, not a pack and play. Clean rooms with comfortable beds and very nice linens. Bellman was a god send - took us and luggage from room to the check in— worth the price and much more to weary travelers. Highly recommend and will return if back in Detroit.
Had a quick trip to Detroit on the tail end of my Cleveland trip. We flew in at night and stayed at the Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport since our flight was getting in so late. The hotel staff greeted us warmly, and loved the atrium of the hotel. You wouldn't even know you were in an airport! We order room service and it was absolutely delicious. The next day we were seeing a Tigers day game, and then flying back out. The front desk held our bags and we were on our way. Overall, would definitely stay here again if I was visiting Detroit or the surrounding areas!
The 3 C's at this Westin: Clean, comfortable, and convenient! The bed and bathrooms were clean and updated. The white sheets, fluffy pillows and towels, and down comforter were wonderful. The bathroom was spacious, clean, and had the rainfall shower head. Plenty of hot water. Being right at the airport was super convenient. No shuttles and no getting up ridiculously early for an early flight. TSA check in is RIGHT THERE. No wait. Just perfect! THE place to stay in Detroit.
I missed my flight and being at the Westin helped. The desk was friendly and listened to my horrible experience. I was starving and ate at the Reflections bar and I was grateful that they were still open. The hamburger was done to my liking and the fries were perfect. The service was wonderful. Kimberly and Alana were efficient and so friendly that it helped me calm down. Alana said you are home now, so sweet . And Kimberly got my food out quickly and they helped me relax. I was missing my flight to Europe, missing my excursions and may even miss the boat but my stay at the Westin was great.
We stayed after flying in from Europe. There weren't the amenities or services to justify almost the $500 we paid. No slippers for the 1 robe (we had 2 people in the room!), no mouthwash, 1 small bottle of lotion (again, a room with 2 people!), 1 bar of soap (again, a room with 2 people!), no stocked mini-bar, no newspapers (not even for purchase), no club lounge only a lobby pantry shop that was mostly empty, and no turndown service. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash toiletries that you expect had been replaced by units mounted on the water that were half empty. Instead of bottles of spring water (even noncomplimentary bottles that we could buy) the hotel provided bottles of purified water. Compare that with the 3 Westins and 1 JW Marriott during our European vacation. We paid around the same rates. At each hotel we received turndown service, robes and slippers, newspapers, all of the expected toiletries, and just more elevated service complete with gracious welcome amenities in our room that ranged from wine to fruit to gourmet cheese. Our status in Bonvoy was recognized and there were notes from the management. Club Lounges were open. Sometimes airport hotels are a lesser standard but that never used to be the case at the DTW Westin. We before when many of the extras that are now missing were provided. Bonvoy status used to get some recognition. Westin is supposed to be an upscale brand within Bonvoy. There should be consistency between the experiences. It felt like a bean counter cut the extras that because the services & amenities almost every other Westin provides (plus comparable hotels like JW Marriott) were missing. Next time we will save $300 and stay at the Sheraton or Marriott a short shuttle drive away.…
With the exception of Dave in the restaurant, staff generally seemed unwelcoming. Room smelled of smoke or similar. One bed sheet had something on it which came off by using a wet wash cloth. Bonvoy members make sure you are not charge for internet which should be free as noted on their login page. Room and restaurant a bit over priced, but convenient to those flyers without checked luggage. If checking luggage might be just as convenient and cheaper to stay just off the airport. Hotel entrance is a bit of a walk and 2 floors up from baggage claim
