First off, the views were awesome! That is the positive. If Marriott is trying to get on name recognition alone, it isn't going to work with this hotel. This hotel has potential, but the staff need to get their act together and keep the common areas clean as well as the each floor off the elevators. Garbage on 3 floor where you check in was overflowing, elevators buttons and interior were smudged and gross. Noticed garbage outside another persons room the first night. It was still there when we checked out 2 days later. No sense of urgency or desire by the front desk staff to ensure that the little things were being done to keep the hotel appearance at an appropriate level. Also, there was next to nothing open at the Renaissance Center. Very disappointing.

We were able to check in promptly 1 hour early, by an extreemly gracious young lady. Did not pay extra for it, but received a riverfront room that was clean and comfortable - beautiful view! No complaints about the Marriott, only wish that there were more food and beverage choices available in the hotel and Ren Cen. However, there are many places nearby to walk to. Downtown Detroit is looking great and loved the hotel's proximity to the Riverwalk!

POURING rain! Valet drive that under roof was closed. Was forced to unload wedding dresses, luggage and all the accessories that go with a huge wedding while standing in the street in the POURING RAIN, DISGUSTING!!! Staff could have cared less. I asked why valet was closed and why I had to unload in the rain. Was told General Motors (who owns the building) makes that decision. WHAT? REALLY? That's BS. Guess I NEVER buy a GM product again. As if that wasn't enough, long lines to check in. Only two windows out of 14 potential open to check in. WHY? Long waits for the elevators. We were on the 57th floor and often waited 5-8 minutes for one because they were either full or slow. For over $205 per night, you'd think this would be a first class operation. It's PATHETIC and they could care less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although all staff are very kind and the hotel is very clean, Arlissa takes it to the next level. She is so customer focused in the gym, rounding on people working out and constantly cleaning, she inspires me to be better at customer service in my own life. I hope she makes it to 40 years with the company! Thank you Arlissa!

There’s plenty of great things to say about the hotel here at the Renaissance Center, but my personal favorite part and the reason why I come back to stay here is for the health center on the 40th floor, and specifically Arlissa, the health club attendant. She keeps the place impeccably clean and maintains such a welcome and friendly environment with her presence and friendly communication. Start or end your day with a workout in the health club and it’ll make your stay that much better. Thank you Arlissa!!
