It was my first time visiting a hostel. It was really nice experience. I felt like I'm in home. The location was fantastic. The people was friendly. I parked my car safely in side where they have place to park.

friendly, welcoming staff -- location looks ominous, but my rental car wasn't harmed at all (i followed advice and kept the interior empty) -- you can walk to woodward blvd's cultural amenities by taking temple blvd on foot for 30 min -- walking distance to corktown, which has numerous restaurants, only 10 min walk maybe -- clean and comfortable with... The hostel is very welcoming, it has a nice interior decoration and plenty of visit suggestions and infos on Detroit. The hostel managers are very friendly and helpful, they are reachable at any time. The rooms are clean, you have a wifi-access, a little kitchen and small bathroom. The hostel is situated at 5 min by car from the Greyhound... More

This hostel is in Corktown, the oldest neighborhood in Detroit. Many of the older, burned out homes that used to be in the area have been leveled and wide fields are left. We are a family of four, including two teens, that wanted to spend and inexpensive night in Detroit to hit the auto show. We spent $60 for each... More

We have maybe moved on from the hostel period of our lives, but this hostel kind of made us wish that we hadn't. Its location is pretty cool, and it offers a good glimpse into local history. The staff was friendly, and the back balcony is a great place to sit at night and take in the comings and goings... More

This place was a great spot to stay and located in a neighbourhood that made exploring easy. As I did not have a car in the "motor city" I thought that I may be isolated but many things are within walking distance. The free tour was incredible as the people who take you volunteer their time and their cars to... More

This is a good hostel catering to a wide range of travelers. Whatever you do here, do not leave without taking the (free!?!) tour given by the Detroit Ambassadors. My mother started bringing me to city tours when i was 6 years old so i've been on more than my fair share. This one may very well be the best,... More

This non-profit place is a godsend for Detroit travellers. The folks running the hostel are highly dedicated making your stay as rewarding as possible in many ways. The only downside I have to say is that one has to make trade-offs concerning cleanliness. However, given the overall experience, I feel this is a minor issue.

To start, keep or print out your code to the front door, as you'll need it to enter every time. (I believe it was 10 digits) This hostel is located in the Corktown area, just a few blocks from Michigan Avenue (hipster restaurants, coffee shops, and bars) and the looming Michigan Central Station. The block looks questionable, but I parked... More

Everything is really easy. You access with your door code at any time. Have full access to various kitchenettes, bathrooms, hangout areas. The beds are clean and reasonably comfortable. The hosts of this non-profit org are super great and full of tips of where to go and what to see. My favourites including Cafe de Mongo on friday/saturday night for... More
