Chwaka is quite cheap resort (meaning quite cheap accommodation). When you don´t expect much as you know you ´re going to cheap resort in Africa you won´t be so disappointed. Food is really bad - breakfast is not worth to get out of the bed, lunch around 10 USD a la carte, dinner is buffet with Indian food of poor...

This is a little resort out in the sticks and it really is out in the sticks. You need either a car or a boat to get anywhere from this resort. When I stayed it was the start of rainy season there was little rain the resort was quiet and well groomed. The set evening meal was good, breakfast was...

What a little gem this is! Beautiful setting & wonderful staff. The rooms & facilities are rustic, but comfortable & have everything one needs. We found that the location was so convenient for travel around the island - very central. The staff are so friendly & accommodating, Ajay (the manager) couldn't do enough for us, and the chef's meals were...

The resort has potential. Although the sea is full of weeds and there's is no way you can swim in it. It is a little isolated too and there is nowhere to go unless you have a driver hired. (Which we hired everyday to get out of staying in the resort) Our room had no curtains, bathroom tap about to...

Please be aware that (1) the photos of this facility do not accurately capture its deteriorated condition; (2) the location is poor; the bay is full of seaweed, and not at all a typical beach in Zanzibar; (3) the owner is obviously not investing any resources in upgrading or even maintaining the property; it appears that he is trying to...

Please don't make the same mistake that I did and book chwaka bay resort! I had booked 9 nights but left after 2 even though I didn't get any refund, I could not stay there any longer. The hotel is not as it seems in the pictures. The atmosphere is not very nice and the hotel does not feel loved...

The property is a great and in a quiet area and has a beautiful view. But the hotel needs to be renovated . My partner booked for a sea view chalet but on the day we arrived we were given the deluxe room instead and the Beatrice (receptionist) refused to accommodate our booking stating they are no more chalets left....

I don't recommend this hotel to stay. Manager of this place it totally very unfriendly. But the stuff is VERY NICE. Food in the hotel is very tasty. Manager don't hide that he's going to close the hotel by the end of this year.
