NUMBER OF ROOMS
The location wonderful, green and nice, full with monkeys and other animals. Now the bad news ,most of the rooms are old, with old and dirty furniture. The round bungalows are better. But everywhere you will feel the odor of mold. The resort needs renovation immediately. They have a very serious problems with electricity mainly with the cable isolation and after rain almost in each room you can experience an electrick shock when you touch the sink in the bathroom. Another problem are the leaky roofs, when raining some of the rooms, restaurant and the lobby are flooded. The staff is nice, but unexperienced, no speaking English and the conctact is quite hard. The food was strange, for me was not good, but the tastes are different. The beach is dirty and not good to stay there. So, in case you get to Maars resort you will be able to observe the beautiful view, monkeys and wonderful green park and if you have the luck to be given one of the better rooms, you might have an almost decent stay. …
How this resort has 3 stars is completely beyond me! It is not even worthy of 1 star. The pictures shown on the website were probably taken when the resort was first completed and are absolutely inaccurate of what the resort looks like today. We were booked into Maars for 6 nights but after 2 nights we decided to cut our losses and checked into another resort. On our night of arrival, the manager on duty seemed totally unaware of our booking. We were a party of 4 and had booked 2 sea facing rooms. The air conditioning did not work in one of the rooms so we had to change rooms. There are no lights to show the way from the reception area to the rooms so we had to stumble along in the dark. There were cockroaches and spiders webs in the rooms. Although there were mosquito nets over the beds, they had large holes in them rendering them completely useless in keeping mosquitoes out. We went to the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is more like a cheap cafeteria. There is a skinny white cat which meows throughout your time in the cafeteria. Whilst attempting to eat our meal we were constantly swatting cockroaches swarming over the table. One of our party ordered a mushroom soup which literally was inedible. The soup was accompanied by a white bread roll which clearly had been frozen and was rock hard in the middle. We requested a bottle of white wine which arrived at the table off the shelf, I.e. it was warm. We requested some ice and were informed that there was no ice as it was a Sunday but there definitely would be ice by the next day. Needless to say the ice never materialized the following day either. Breakfast in the morning was so bad all we could eat was a piece of bread and jam. There were rats running around and my daughter nearly stepped on a snake on the pathway to the rooms in the dark. There was no hot water in the room. As reported by previous reviewers one cannot swim at the beach. There are no safes in the room. We were told we would receive two bottles of fresh water daily - needless to say these did not materialize. I honestly can go on and on about how horrendous this resort was. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for accommodation!! …
The manager of this resort is rude and not helpful. The first evening we had to wait one hour to have another key to our door, because the key did not work. The second evening we had to move at midnight rooms because there was smoke coming out of electric outlet: had a hard time locating manager. They ran out of food choices (breakfast and dinner) , coffee (at breakfast) , and drinks. Towels are old and dirty. Resort is falling behind in maintenance ; railings by steps broke off, looks run-down. Is overpriced. Do not go here.
We were all shocked when we arrived to the Hotel! It wasn't like it 's advertised on booking com or other websites. Everything was broken and really bad condition, bugs everywhere. The garden was full of rubbish, it looked like junk storage rather than what you call is resort! Second day we decided to not stay there but the owner , that Indian guy already charged the full amount to our credit card, When we asked the refund he was not happy, we said at least charge first day but still no deal. Still waiting for our refund. My advice to you guys who want to stay there, do not ever stay! you will do the biggest mistake or your life, your holiday will be all spoiled with dissapointment and bad service in a filthy place.
We booked our family vacation late and as a result Maars was one of the last few options available and overall we had a terrible experience: No Ice Hot Sodas and juice Limited food menu, horrible food in general Electricity cut off in the rooms (no aircon in that heat) WiFi doesn't reach rooms No hot water Staff doesn't understand english well - it was difficult to communicate Receptionist was always unavailable
