We've been visiting the Borrowdale area for many years and although we were staying in a local Yurt this time we (again) decided to drop into the Scafell Hotel for a bar meal and a drink. Just love the ambience in the bar with some...More
We had a really enjoyable 2 night stay at the Scafell Hotel. The room we had, 22, had recently been refurbished and overlooked the stream at the back. Immaculate barhroom with excellent water pressure for the shower. The hotel had a comfortable residents lounge area...More
We stayed her for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary. The room was comfortable, the staff all friendly, helpful and efficient and the breakfasts and evening meals provided in the restaurant were exceptional and the hotel has a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed our stay - we had been concerned that the busyness of the bank holiday weekend might detract, but actually not. Of course there was an enormous traffic queue to get this far down Borrowdale [2 buses then a camper...More
We stayed here whilst walking the Coast to Coast path. The bar had a proper "pub" feel to it, serving terrific food. The Lamb Henry was for me the stand - out meal of the whole trip.

Hi, we are in a perfect position to climb Scafell Pike, being only 1.5 miles from Seathwaite where most people park to begin the climb. You could actually walk from the Hotel depending on the time of year.
We would also recommend that you avoid this room for the same reasons. On our second night we asked to be moved to a quieter room. We paid a premium price for the original room so we were very surprised that it was so noisy... More
We would also recommend that you avoid this room for the same reasons. On our second night we asked to be moved to a quieter room. We paid a premium price for the original room so we were very surprised that it was so noisy with people smoking right below our window, then noise from the bar. I didn't get to sleep until 2am because the staff were moving tables and chairs around and clearing up from the night before. If you want peace and quiet we were moved to a room in the annexe and I think that was room 23
