My family has camped here for years and have our favorite spots. If you like a bit quieter campsite, try the West Campground in the sites in the 150's. Families with kids might like the East Campground and its more open play areas better. Good place for bikes and walks. You can hike into Copper Harbor for restaurants and shopping.... More

While the view across the lake was gorgeous, there were far too many campers and RVs in the campground, in too close proximity with little to no privacy. Great for a short stay, but I would not recommend spending much time here if you're looking for relaxation. Too many shrieking kids, barking dogs, and generators running. The bathrooms, however were... More

This was a very beautiful campground. Well kept sites and bathrooms (at least on the west side). The only down fall here was the biting black flies. We stayed for two days and the only way to enjoy the camp fire was to hold a fly swatter. This campground offers wi-fi only by the bathroom, so it tends to be... More

We stayed in the East camground, and our site was just across from the overlook onto the water. The site was well maintained, but the things that stood out the most for this campground were the bathrooms, which were virtually spotless, and the camp host! The camp host had coffee available in the mornings, which worked out great for us... More

This was our first trip camping in Copper Harbor and loved this place. Bathrooms are clean and showers are free. It is a short ride into town on your bike and the trails are perfect. If you get a chance make sure to kayak on the big lake. The scenery is out of bounds.. Campground is nice but the roads... More

This park was pretty typical for a state park, except that the east campground and west campground differ greatly. We booked a tent spot in the east campground and they had us packed in like sardines with no privacy. Sure, there were mature trees, but they were devoid of branches down low. We may as well have been camping in... More

Campground was clean, had tree covered sites, a new shower house, laundry facilities, and a wonderful playground. Easy access to the actual fort. The fire pits were were sturdy and filled with sand around the edges. Close to Copper Harbor. Overall, great place.

We've camped here two years in a row and we've loved it both times. It's a LONG drive, but totally worth it. There are tons of trees and Lake Fanny Hoe is beautiful not to mention how close it is to Lake Superior. It's by far my favorite state park in Michigan.

I have been coming to Copper Harbor/Fort Wilkens for the past 20 years. Some years as many as three times a year. The park hasn't changed a bit in these 20 years. It's still a friendly, quiet place to camp. While the facilities are older, they are very well maintained by the park workers. I usually reserve the mini-cabin, I've camped... More

We have tented at Ft.Wilkins throughout my children's youth. We tend to stay at the more rustic section as there is more privacy between sites. Try camping Encampment. So neat to hear the Gaitling guns, troops marching through camp, historical activities, and so on. My kids learned a lot without even knowing it.
