Detailed Reviews
10/10! Let’s start off by saying this is the most affordable and cleanest motel I’ve ever stayed at, it’s local to all shopping locations in the area and right off the freeway. Staff is amazing! Room is always clean everything is updated and I’ve never smelt a cleaner room!

I was pleasantly surprised by the room I stayed in. It was nicely clean, had new carpeting, a very comfortable bed with very soft Kohl's sheets and pillowcases. Except for the occasional extreme hot-rodder car, no outside noise bothered me at all. The office people were quite pleasant, polite and helpful.

+1
This rating is based on value for the average person needing a room. The Lodge Keeper isn't intended to compete with high-end expensive hotels.
When passing through this area of the country, we had been traveling later at night and were running out of options. We got lucky and eventually found this Lodge Keeper. Prior to finding it, we were about to go to a more well-known chain hotel for $174 per night. Knowing that we had to leave around 0700 the next morning and it was approaching midnight, we were reluctant to spend 174 for 7ish hours. Luckily, we came across the Lodge Keeper and paid $86. Cost was not the only factor causing a high rating for this inn.
The staff who appeared to be Americans who had recent roots in the country of India were extremely nice and easy to deal with both that night plus the next morning. After hours of driving, boating, and diving throughout the day, we were fried and in no mood for complications. The staff were a joy to deal with after a long day.
The room was very good for the money. The night previously, we stayed in a better-known chain hotel very near Detroit. It was not a good experience. No fridge, questionable cleanliness, and mysterious cuts in the sheets once the bedspread was pulled down. The negative experience the previous night made us enjoy the Lodge Keeper that much more. There was a good refrigerator, the room was extremely clean, and the beds very comfortable. Photos are attached of a few details that made this room feel warm and inviting.
Overall, great experience with the Lodge Keeper, glad we found it.

This is the second time I stayed at this place, last time it was in the winter. The price was a little high as well for what this place is. Now the place seemed reasonably clean and is not in a bad area, though someone decided to honk their horn a dozen times in the middle of the night. The first time I had no real issues but this last time I got devoured by bed bugs. They bit me really bad...breakfast...lunch...dinner plus 4th meal and desert!!!

My friend and I were there for one night. The place is definitely outdated but very clean. Check in and out was easy. You don’t reserve your room with a credit card which made me a tad nervous because I made reservations 2 months in advance. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the room although they are unplugged when you arrive. I brought my own cooler so it was definitely a non issue. The area is decent. I would stay here again. Great location, right off the highway and a quick uber ride to the diesel concert lounge!

Good Evening, We know your time is valuable & we appreciate your review. We leave all refrigerator's unplugged due to the ice building up over time. We don't take guests cc info for making reservations during the slower seasons. We're making major renovations for the next year. Thanks for your business & hope to see you soon.

Come to this motel every year in Aug for an annual shopping trip. Same owners as long as I can remember.. They are welcoming, and helpful. Rooms have been updated consistently over the last few years.. Rates are reasonable, wifi is strong, ample parking.

This motel is clean, reasonably priced and suitable for a short stay. No frills but there there is a gas station next door for coffee and donuts etc. Refrig in room but it didn't work. Didn't need it anyway. We did not find any "bugs". The proprieters are a bit difficult to understand at first but very pleasant. We would stay again.

I guess I'm the first person to review this place on TripAdvisor!
I was traveling on a solo trip to the Detroit area in April 2015 to visit friends and needed an inexpensive place to crash in the Chesterfield area. The Chesterfield exit off I-94 does have a few more expensive hotels (I think a Holiday Inn Express and a Hampton) but those places were too expensive for just me. Somehow I missed the Chesterfield Motor Inn, but besides that place and Lodge Keeper, there really were no other options for me. I did find a couple reviews of the Lodge Keeper on Google and maybe Yelp, and those reviews made the Lodge Keeper sound rather questionable. (Someone a year ago had mentioned something about bed bugs in the room, but I figured if that was a year ago, the problem was probably resolved since then.) In any case, I took a chance and booked a room here.
It is definitely an older motel. When I first booked the room, I was asked for an estimate of my arrival time which I thought was a bit odd. I provided that answer, and my estimate turns out to have been correct. I stayed in Room 118 which was okay. It's a small, old room with a mattress that has seen better days, but the overall cleanliness was okay. It did feel a tad "gross" but there were no bed bugs (yay!) and I figured it would suffice for one night. It did.
Yes, it's true... this place is not great. But if you decide to book a room here, do not go into it with high expectations. If all you're looking for is a basic place to crash, the Lodge Keeper will suffice. I had no problems here.
