We had a good vacation at Bear Cave. Sites were nice could use a few more with full hook up though. We have a motorhome and the black and grey tank fill up fast. But we got a tote to empty ourselves and they have a honey wagon that comes around so we were good. The staff was very nice and helped us in whatever way they could. The manager Yolanda runs a great campground and we will definitely be back to see her a camp again next year. Happy Campers!
Online reservation did not adequately describe campground - looking for just an overnight stay. $78 was ridiculously high price for site with no potable water - electric only. Gate code not provided with reservation - had to get someone inside to let us in. Never again.
Reservation system is horrible. First come first serve for campsites. Even though you reserve 5 months in advance they may or may not have a site for you when you get there. Store and games closed at noon for the day on Sunday with no notice. Most game machines are broken with no signage. Not a lot of kids activities. Nice pool. Cave was fun, but very tiny. You can hear the motocross nearby all day.
Our favorite campground by far they have a waterfall a real Cave it’s right on the river the staff is absolutely amazing the bathrooms are so clean I have a playground for the kids and everyone was very friendly the sites are great
Very poor service; no one at ranger station and could not get any help. Sites were full and in poor condition. We could not find a site as promised so had to spend night in Walmart parking lot. This campground is not up to Thousand Trails standard or we will not renew our membership again next year.
Great place to stay just an hour and a half from Chicago. Clean, fun activities, awesome pool, right on the St. Joe river! Close to St Joe and wineries! Employees always around to answer questions, and there’s a cute little camp store.
We love Bear Cave!! It's truly a hidden gem. There's so much to do from the park, swimming pool, boating and much more! The Bathrooms are very clean and air conditioned. Shower stalls and bathroom by the park have been updated.
This campground is not very well taken care of. The facilities were not clean and they are outdated. There seems to be no pride in ownership. The sites are too close. Very noisy racetrack down the road that had announcers and helicopters until 1 am. It rained before we arrived and there was no general maintenance to the sites that were muddy and had large ruts through the grass from other cars. I don’t think the showers were cleaned the entire week I was there. The pool was nice.
Decent campground. On phone staff was great, arrived late so no other interaction. Need BETTER CLEAR signage on main road. Almost missed it… bathroom was nice but floor was flooded due to possible shower drainage
Camping was fun and great view. Sites were tight. The boil water was very frustrating since we paid for hook up. Some of the long time campers could clean up a bit makes it look trashy when there is tall grass.
