This campground is quite different. It was okay but you'll want to know what you are getting ahead of time. I can say the owner was nice and quite accommodating. He even gave our group an extra site for free to park our four-wheelers and extra trailer.

Things that are unusual about this campground: 1. No dumpster/garbage disposal, you haul your garbage out or pay $3 per bag to leave it on site in their bags. 2. No typical restrooms or showers, port-a-johns throughout and 1 bathroom that is like a house bathroom. Only 1 person at a time with a toilet, sink and shower. 3. The layout is very odd. You don't get to the office until you are 1/2 way around the campground. Extremely difficult to find at night.

They did have a volleyball net and horse shoes, but they are just on hard ground (no sand). And they have what they call a petting zoo but the animals are surrounded by electric fence and you enter at your own risk. I did not have an opportunity to visit their beach since it was at the complete opposite end of our site. The entire campground is dirt and trees, so if you are looking for paved drives and/or concrete parking for your camper, this is not the place for you.

They do have rental campers at a cheap price. They are basically for sleeping only. Old but they work.

They offered us a horse-drawn carriage ride which was neat.

All in all, our group of 6 families (23 people) did enjoy ourselves. As long as you have a fully equipped trailer it is okay. I would not take a group of people who are tenting it due to the bathroom/shower situation.

This is our third year at Putman Lake Campground. Arriving at our site is like coming home. If you are looking for simple back to nature and peace with nature, this is the place to be. There is not a bad site in the place. Large lots that offer a view of nature is all you see. This is definitely NOT a parking lot campground.
Kevin, the owner has really only 4 rules. Respect the other campers around you. Follow the strictly enforced speed limit. Absolutely follow the one way roads and first and foremost have fun.

We and another couple stayed in this campground over the 4th of July. This is the definition of a family run mom & pop campground. That is not a bad thing. If you are spoiled by State parks and expensive private campgrounds you might not like this as much.
There are only two plumbed bathrooms near the office with showers and they are basically like home bathrooms and not your typical commercial grade bathrooms. There are plungers next to the toilets... for example. I wouldn’t say they were immaculate but they weren’t horrible either. There was no paper towel our whole stay but there was soap. There are outhouses EVERYWHERE and they don’t stink. I think they take care of them well.
There are trees everywhere and plenty of shade. No fear of getting stuck in a "parking lot" type of site here. Feels like real camping plus water and power. We were yelled at a few times for our dog barking and driving down the one-ways the wrong way but this was our fault and I actually count this as a positive. I like no-nonsense administration. As long as nobody gets special treatment and rules are rules. There were no loud parties at night and it felt very safe. The owners are always around doing various maintenance tasks. They deliver wood to your site on a four wheeler for $5 a bundle. There were horse drawn carriages going around (that made our dogs bark haha) that added to the charm. The petting zoo they have is interesting and there are two full play-sets for children to play on.
The beach/lake was AMAZING. The water was perfect on the fourth. There are kayaks and canoes that you can use FOR FREE. You must give them a heads-up that you are using them and they are serious about bringing a life jacket with you (another good thing). There are two swimming platforms at about 15ft deep areas with no weeds. There are weeds between the sandy shore and kids swimming area and the swimming platforms but I actually just took a kayak out to them haha.
The layout of the campground is kind of confusing because you enter via Wonderland Street off 10 but have to drive a ways to get to the office, where most campgrounds have the office at the entrance. The one ways made it take an extra few minutes to get to our site every time we went to town due to the 5 MPH restriction so if there was a cut-through that would be nice.
So in conclusion I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was in Baldwin and not with a bunch of prissy women who needed perfect facilities haha.

We thoroughly enjoy all the amenities this campground has to offer! We truly enjoy the peace and quiet this campground provides. We are avid hikers and there is never a shortage of places to explore when staying here. The lake is a great place to kayak/canoe when the weather turns nice (these are free to use from the campground). We have never had any problems with anyone associated with the campground and they have always been more then willing/happy to help with anything we need or want. This campground is perfect for our family as it allows us to ride to the trails on our four wheeler with no problems. We have a map of the area so we know where we can and can not ride.

This is the first and only campground I have ever rated.
After looking at the website I had high hopes. Not so much after arriving. This place is a run down, dirty, cluttered dump. Almost no short term guests. Mostly vacant seasonal trailers. Broken crap everywhere. Some antique trailers have not moved in my lifetime. They look like rotting hulks in the woods. If you wanted to make a movie of a haunted campground, here is your place. Everything is in dis-repair. I cant begin to tell you how disappointed we were. I saw no kids, nor would I let mine run around there unsupervised. Sites are small. Many trees have been removed from sites but they left the 3 foot tall stumps due to being lazy and cheap. Makes manuvering tough. NOT on the ORV trail as advertised. Its 2-5 miles on back roads to the closest trailheads. NO signs to direct you to and from the trails. We took a wrong turn next to the prison (no kidding) returning to camp and ran into a big sign on an dead end road declaring trespassers will be shot. A couple 2 dollar signs from the campground would help. Thankfully we had GPS to help get back. They could make Deliverance 2 on this location. Put some money into this place or close it.

Nice, quiet, and peaceful place to stay. Have been coming here for several years and it is always pleasurable. I have stayed in the cabin with my large family and it was great. Also I have brought the camper and the lots are nice and shaded with fire pits! I enjoy seeing the animals there as well. Great place to stay with very reasonable rates! I would recommend for sure.

We stayed this past weekend and could not have had a better time. We were able to rent the cottage as we do not have our own camper. While not in perfect pristine condition (what is in a totally wooded campground) it was very rustic, clean, and comfortable for our needs. The owners, Kevin and Vicky go out of their way to ensure you are having a good time. We arrived late Friday night and as we were unloading the car they were busy building a campfire for our enjoyment after our long trip there. You don't see that at KOA or Good Sam campgrounds. We cooked out every meal on the grill over the fire pit, we enjoyed the free kayaks on the lake and took long long hikes and bike rides. All in all a great experience. We can't wait to go back.

Don’t waste your time and money!!!!! No pride in ownership and facilities are disgusting!!!! ORV’s non stop 24/7 with no respect for sleep or safety!!! Non stop dogs barking all hours of the day and night!!! Policy states all dogs must be on a leash but that is ignored!!! Worst place we have ever stayed- will never recommend to anyone!!!!
