The Sands of Time is my home away from home, except that I prefer it to my actual home. The rooms are more comfortable and have far better views. For instance, I never see an osprey flying overhead at my home home! The manager Becky is at the visitor's beck(y) and call, performing any service you wish -- she's so good, in fact, that I'm going to nominate her for the Nobel Prize in Hotel Management! The swimming pool is a delight and, to me, preferable to swimming in the nearby ocean. It's not only less crowded, but you don't risk a sharp attack when you're swimming in it. Highly recommended!
From the time we arrived until the time we left we felt perfectly at home. Wonderful staff, immaculate room with a spectacular view. We stayed in the Harbor House, king bed with a water view. The outside picture is of room 150 which was amazing. The 2nd picture is of the harbor. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from downtown Woods Hole. I cannot say thank you enough for a fantastic 22nd anniversary weekend. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you to the entire staff!
My wife and I stayed at the Harbor House, room 150, for two nights and were very impressed with the accommodations. The room is very large, beautifully furnished, and has great views of the harbor and ocean that can be enjoyed from the sitting area by the large picture windows. The bathroom was newly remodeled this year. Everything was spotless, the king bed was comfortable, the room was very quiet, and the location can’t be beat. A short walk takes you to the center of Woods Hole, with shops and restaurants, the Shining Sea bike path, and the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. Or you can walk to the beach and the Nobska lighthouse. Innkeeper Becky was happy to provide recommendations for restaurants and directions. We felt lucky to have found such a wonderful place to stay!
We were planning on traveling out of state in August but Covid changed our plans and we decided we would have to settle and stay in state and go to the Cape like we had done in the past when our kids were young. Little did we know at the time, that we were not 'settling" at all. We made our reservations by phone and Becky was a joy to work with. The other staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We are a family of 5- 2 adults and 3 teenage/young adults kids. We had 2 rooms in the Harbor House and we cant complain at all. The rooms are nostalgic but don't misread into that. The rooms had comfortable beds, decent bathrooms and most of all , they were CLEAN. We have stayed in many places across the country and in the Caribbean and Sands of Time is definitely in the tops for cleanliness. During our stay we were able to swim in the pool, play cards/snack by the pool, took a day trip to Martha's Vineyard, dine in Woods Hole, ride bikes along the bike path all without needing to get into our car, as we could do all this by walking or biking. We did take days to drive very short trips to a beach and kayak in Popponesset Bay and Mashpee River. Coming back to the Sands of Time's quiet, clean rooms and grounds was a good way to end a fabulous day. Two of our kids have started college and one will begin high school again next week and we just said to them we wish we were still hanging out at the Sands pool playing cards. When you can say you wish you were spending time with your family at a place other than your own home, then you know it is a nice place. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.…
We were in room 150 of the Harbor house. 1st floor with its own entrance. HUGE! Best view of ferry s and Martha's vineyard. Hospitality of reception was awesome and helpful. They surprised us with a Happy Anniversary banner And a bottle of champagne......so sweet. Due to the covid virus they were no accessories, toss pillows or extras in the room so it was a little bare. Asked for a fridge and they got it immediately. The only thing I would suggest is either cups or bottles of water in the room but I was prepared, so didn't have problems. They provided ice on request as needed. Coffee provided hot and fresh in lobby free of charge. Will go back in a heart beat!
