We weren't sure what to expect and went with one of the better rooms. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. We arrived later at night after spending the day in Wellfleet. We typically stay in the dennisport area. The room was clean and comfortable and the AC was great. We were on the first floor and the view wasn't really much. You could hardly see the water from the sliding door, but it was nice sitting on the little patio area. While the view was kind of disappointing, the bed was very comfy and we slept great. The TV was awesome and the bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water. I see many of the reviews recommend feeling unsafe, but we didn't. I will say there seemed to be a lot of the "older beach bum" crowd hanging out in their patios and balconies, and many of them were up quiet late (I'm a night person myself). The outside was noisy but with the tv and ac we didn't hear anything in the room or stomping feet above us. Many people were smoking and openly drinking which I don't have a problem with, but I'd recommend this place for older crowds or couples as opposed to families with small kids. No one was exceptionally loud, but when you're up having fun some noise will be made of course. It also seemed there wasn't nearly enough parking, so I'd honestly recommend they assign spots. I'm not sure if people had visitors or what, but the front desk attendant even warned us about it. I think the benefit of paying extra for an upgraded room on the ground floor should include a parking spot that isn't on the other side of the complex for easier unpacking. We wanted to use the pool but didn't get to, it was closed when we checked in. Same for the restaurant. While the view was somewhat disappointing from the room is was nice from the patio. There were a ton of geese by the water which pooped everywhere on the grass. I wouldn't have minded but it was really muddy due to the rain, so we had to skip out on exploring the shore area, which was the main reason we booked this place. I'd definitely recommend if you're a group of friends looking to relax and have fun, or a couple that doesn't mind that vibe. While nothing about the complex screamed family unfriendly, there seemed to be a lot of night owls walking to their cars, on their balconies, etc.

The description advertised that there was a view (the view was of the parking lot), and that there would be breakfast included (they don't do breakfast all year long - we came during the off season when they weren't serving it). Overall, the place didn't feel clean, had a lot of mold on the wall in the bathroom, one of the towels had a dirty looking substance on it and another had some hairs, and there was an unpleasant smell in the room that I couldn't put my finger on. The walls/floors did not provide much sound barrier - we were up most of the night as we could hear the person in the room next to us coughing. Overall - would not recommend. That being said, there were a couple of positives: The two good things about it were: 1. Good customer service - the lady at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating when we needed to change the date of our stay; also a custodian was very friendly and helpful in recommending a nearby place that served excellent breakfast (Keltic Kitchen) when we found out that they didn't have any to serve 2. The bed was very comfortable

On top of it the hotel desk clerk gave out my room number to a pizza delivery guy when I had not ordered a pizza or discussed ordering a pizza with the desk clerk. Very dangerous steps from second story to first story. Maybe they were burnt out from the summer visitors. But for the most part I found the hotel and restaurant quite rude and not accommodating. No wonder we spent our summers on Nantucket and not the Cape.

I know better but I am frugal. Having lived on the Cape I usually stay with friends who are still there. The Tidewater offers a Get a Way card that in 2015 was only 360 dollars for 8 nights, never expires. That is 45 dollars plus tax a stay. Can’t use mid June through Labor Day. Not a bad deal for an overnight or few days. Cape Cod is overpriced for nightly stays. The Tidewater is old. It is clean but outdated. Fine if you are only going to sleep and be out for the day.
