I booked a place at this HI and it didn't disappoint. The beds were comfy, breakfast was tasty, the bathrooms clean and lounge was excellent. Nice hammocks to lounge in and plan days, helpful staff that gave wonderful tips on places to sea. A great hostel. The only thing that could be marked down is it's location. It is a... More

I went to Martha's Vineyard with my girl scout troop. We had a great time it was supper clean and the food was tolerable. The staff was a bit too friendly but we didn't think about it. We were fine until three of the girls fell sick. As we soon found out they don wash the blankets after each tendent... More

Brilliant owners here, they made me feel so welcome, I had a friend who had stayed there a couple of weeks before me and they remembered her, and the fact that she'd been on a tour, it's the little things like that which really make a place! The dorm room was lovely, just a few beds in each, the bathrooms... More

Our son wanted us to stay at the Hostel on Martha's Vineyard. It was a very interesting and a lot of nice people. A breakfast was provided, which we didn't expect. We had a fun time at breakfast with the diverse people from different countries. We were just there for 24 hours so we didn't have a chance to check... More

I've been to a lot of hostels and this is one of my new favorites. The location is secluded and beautiful; a great place to just get away from it all! The owners/staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and made the hostel feel homey. The daily breakfast was one of the better ones I've had at a hostel. The room... More

This was a great place to stay - all the staff was super friendly. It is right on the bus route #6, but need to be at the bus stop early or they won't stop. The couple that run the place made sure we had everything we needed. It does include a free breakfast each day which includes pancakes made... More

We reserved a private rooom with a private 1/2 bath for my family of 4. GREAT! Clean, well-managed, nice, spacious property, free breakfast in the morning, outdoor and indoor showers, and right on the bike bath and a bus route. You'll pay 50% less than the budget hotels on the island, and get a much better experience. Enjoy!

HI - MV was a great choice of a place to stay and top notch as far as hostels are concerned. My husband and I decided to take our bikes via the ferry and spend the weekend biking around the island. From getting off the ferry and biking with bags, its about 7 miles or so, but nearly all on... More

we spent a couple of days at the hostel while exploring the Vineyard. The staff (Mike and Donnie) couldn't do enough to make our stay a pleasurable one. This included finding a makeshift bath/paddling pool for our 14 month old daughter, lending us towels for the beach and ringing around the kayak tour companies to see what was running as... More

Had a great time at this hostel - it was very clean, very comfortable, and very well designed. So easily accessible too! Donnie and Mike are fabulous (and make tasty whole wheat pancakes for breakfast!). Definitely recommend, especially for students or anyone on a budget.

Amenities

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
World class beaches, biking trails, art galleries, and a variety of preservation lands are among the island's many attractions. Favorite destinations include the Aquinnah Clay Cliffs, Chappaquiddick Island, the Menemsha Fishing Village, and the Gingerbread houses of Oak Bluffs. Famous for its beauty and diverse geographical landscape, visitors to the Vineyard quickly become enchanted by "the land beyond the sea beyond the land." Centrally locate on the isle of Cape Cod, our hostel remains in the 1950's architectural style it was constructed in, as the country's first youth hostel, over four decades ago. This is in keeping with the quiet, traditional atmosphere on the island. Attractions include local crafts and galleries but the real magic of Cape Cod lies in it's relaxing ambience. The Island of Martha's Vineyard has long been a favorite destination for exploration and recreation.
