The Shaker Mill Inn was a treasure of a find: a safe, spacious, thoughtfully decorated BnB with warm hospitality and numerous special touches, including a bottle of Merlot upon arrival, a private covered entryway and semi-private deck, lovingly tended gardens, charming local artwork, and important little things, like scissors and a sewing kit in the room. Dogs are allowed in most rooms, and although I didn't bring ours on this trip, I could see how welcoming the place would be to them, complete with an ample back yard. I stayed in the Clark Room, at ground level. It had gorgeous large windows opening to the deck and yard, but even with those curtains closed, the room had plenty of light from a large skylight over the bed. The room is connected by a stairway to the room above, allowing them to be connected when guests so desire, but in my case I appreciated how separate the spaces felt (I only heard very faint noise, occasionally) and I loved using the steps as a "staging area" as I headed out on several different local mini-adventures. The covered entryway, with its arched door and round window, also proved to be a gift during a welcome rainstorm, which I could enjoy from (nearly) outdoors. This was only my second trip in the covid era, and the contactless check in and provision of breakfast in the room -- as well as the immaculate condition of the room -- made me feel perfectly safe.…
What a charming place! True to its pictures. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite which is quite spacious along with a sizable bathroom. The owners have lovingly maintained the property with great attention to detail. Beautifully landscaped!! In addition to our private patio and porch, chairs and tables replete with umbrellas as well as citronella candles and lighter are placed all over the property. You'd never know it's off a main road,, once you sitting under one of those umbrellas enjoying the beautiful landscaping. A two minute walk to the local coffee shop and other restaurants and an used bookstore! What a delightful treat to stay at the Inn.
The rooms are large, airy and contain everything you need ... and more. The garden is very pleasant and there are lots of amenities in the village nearby. e brought our little old dog and even she had a good time.
The Shaker Mill Inn is a gem, and John and Patti are incredible hosts, not to mention two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They’re incredibly attentive to your needs, yet never intrusive at all. We stayed in the Norman Rockwell Suite, which is really like a small NYC apartment, except bigger and more quaint, with high ceilings, skylights, and a nice balcony where you can sit at a table and read, eat, or just enjoy the greenery. It has a small kitchenette (no stove, but a fridge and microwave), and breakfast is provided each morning (yummy things like scones, bagel sandwiches, a quiche, and more). It’s hard to explain, but even though the Inn is close to Main Street, you really do feel like you’re tucked away farther into the woods. And the property is beautiful — we spent a good amount of time sitting in the chairs on the lawn , reading books, relaxing, and having great conversations, even with a couple other guests. The location in general is perfectly situated for a quick jaunt to Lenox, Great Barrington, or any other adjacent towns you may want to explore beyond West Stockbridge. And there’s a nice binder in your room that highlights many attractions nearby. We’ll be returning for sure, perhaps in the Fall, where it must be even more gorgeous with the turning of the leaves. Thank you John and Patti for a wonderful stay. Sincerely, AB & Elena…
Shaker Mill Inn is a lovely place to stay. Well-tended gardens; caring hosts; great rooms; quiet! You can easily walk to the little downtown area of West Stockbridge and there is a good restaurant just steps away. We would definitely consider staying there again on future trips to the Berkshires.
This was our first time staying at this cozy B&B. Great, quiet location and walking distance to a nice restaurant. Our Garden Room was amazingly spacious and clean with a private balcony. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us! The room had a tiny kitchen area and a variety of breakfast items for us in the morning. Slept comfortably and had a relaxing time. We will be back!
I have been to Shaker Mill several times because of its charm and the warm hospitality the owners show their guests. When I had issues with weather that affected my stay they were very generous and understanding and waived the remaining balance on what I owed because I had to leave early. The owners are very down to earth and try to accommodate you to their best ability. I will definitely be returning to the Shaker Mill Inn!
This was our first time staying at The Shaker Mill Inn. We were very pleased with our stay. The Clark Room was very clean and well organized. John & Patti make sure their guests are comfortable, we felt right at home. Wish we could have gotten to spend time talking with the both of them, with Covid restrictions in place, it was not possible. Celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary, we found the peace and tranquility we needed, to relax and reminisce. Our son and his husband had all the extras sent to the room, roses, chocolates, mugs from the Inn, balloons and Champagne. John and Patti set everything up nicely, including putting soft music on and the fireplace was glowing. We couldn't have asked for a better way to spend and enjoy our Anniversary. Thank you for making our time extra special!…
We spent two nights at the Shaker Mill Inn, and John and Patti were exceptional hosts. We arrived to find a bottle of wine waiting for us, and sat on the loveseat and talaked while we had a glass. John recommended a nearby restaurant that we could walk to, and we were glad to be able to have a good meal near by. We also loved the delicious breakfasts that were left in our room for us, and found that the Inn is near many attractions for our entertainment that rainy day. When we finally arrived back at our room at the end of the day, John helped us to navigate the television and we were able to settle in to watch a movie. The next morning we were able to get ready to leave without rushing, and enjoyed another delightful breakfast. All the amenities we could have imagined were available, and as I began, we felt completely pampered. We highly recommend the inn and its innkeepers to anyone cominng to this part of the world.…
Spacious apartment with full kitchen, comfortable bed. Hosts very accommodating - early check-in, bottle of wine waiting, even cleaned the snow off our car! Enjoyed the extensive DVD library. Breakfast in the room was standard continental fare - appreciated the contactless approach. The place was a bit dated overall, but everything worked well enough - would be good for kids or pets. First night we could hear the people around us (thin walls?) but second night was quiet.
