The owner of this B&B is not hospitable, and not reasonable. In the middle of a pandemic when Wellesley Reunion Weekend canceled, she was unwilling to refund full cost of weekend. She would extend use but no way we are traveling in coming months We lost entire weekend cost. It is not worth hiring a lawyer but be careful dealing with this owner.
Most B&B's have an air of warmth and hospitality. This wasn't the case here. I arrived after dark. There were no lights on. When I entered and found the light switches, I was at the bottom of a stairs. There was a door to the right and a door to the left, both with large conspicuous locks on them. I climbed the stairs to my room. The hallway was narrow and filled with odd books and other items. My room, to the right, was small and a bit cramped. There was no where comfortable to hang out. The only space available to me was my small room. The bed was comfortable enough, but the rest of the experience wasn't one I would care to repeat. Breakfast was reasonably good, although I'd been given two choices the night before and what I was served was neither of the choices I'd been given. And I had been told there were things in the room that weren't there. It was only as I was leaving that I discovered the closet had been made into a sort of pantry area. It was a very odd experience.…
We stayed one night, my husband and I had the master bedroom with private bath and my son a second room with shared bath ( nobody stayed in the third room). This is not your typical B&B. There is no separate breakfast area like at others B&B. Rooms are equipped with microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. I can’t comment on the breakfast as we didn’t pay the extra price. We did take the hosts advice and had breakfast at Captain Marden’s which was delicious! It’s a little odd taking our shoes off and the entry was very small, we were stepping over each other to take shoes on/off. The rooms were nice but seemed crowded with furniture. The beds were very comfy. The host really tries for her guests to have a good experience. This was a nice place to stay but have realistic expectations.
Caveat emptor. This is not a traditional bed and breakfast. You are renting a bedroom; in my case, quite small with a shared bathroom. There is no common area! Breakfast can be ordered for an additional charge, and delivered to your bedroom at either 8:00 or 8:30 am. There is no television, which was disclosed ahead. The rather small house is in a safe, convenient area. It is very clean, but showing its age (e.g., you are advised not to plug in more than one electrical appliance at a time). And by the way, there is a $50 fine for wearing shoes in the house.
Margo was a lovely and gracious hostess. So accommodating to our schedule. The breakfasts were delicious, fresh, and nutritious. The perfect way to start our day. You can’t beat the location and proximity to restaurants, etc. The rooms were cozy and charming. We loved it
