We are staying here for 4 days, and it is a fabulous place! Easy to get too, clean, comfy cabins and bathrooms, friendly staff, playground is great, vegetation is nice, what a dream. Definitely coming back!
We stayed for Labor Day weekend, and decided to stay Sat- Tuesday. We had an unbelievably great weekend. We are very familiar with the island, but it had been a few years since we had gone. We have stayed at various New England campgrounds with family over the years, mostly in their RV. This was only our second trip as a tenting family on our own, and I think this may be one of my favorite campgrounds. The sites were close, but not too close where we were. We had two sites, one for my new-to-car camping parents, and the sites were perfectly located next to one another and were generously sized. We did encounter skunks at night, but they generally are un-phased by people, and are snooping for food scraps (so keep your site clear by dusk.) The indoor bathrooms were clean, but the showers looked a bit small (I did not use them.) We opted for the outdoor showers which were great, with warm to lightly hot water, and generously spaced. My favorite part of the campground was that outdoor sink for dishes was huge, lots of counter space, and had two compost bins nearby. It was cleaned regularly by staff. There was on-site recycling which was awesome. On Monday, the campground emptied out, and they were able to offer us a late checkout since our boat was very late that day, which was helpful. Our kids made friend at the playground every day, and I felt comfortable with keeping an eye on them from afar. The water and electric hookups were convenient. We are very excited to go back next summer!…
We've stayed at MVFC many times, from tent to cabin. This year (2021) we opted for a 2 room cabin which had a full bed and single bunk in the front room and a full bed and single bunk as well as a another single bunk set in the back room (sleeping 8- more than enough for our family of 4 - 2 adults, 2 teenagers). The cabin also had 2 fans, a mini fridge that comes with a freezer top. Pros - very clean bathrooms, huge outdoor showers, friendly atmosphere. Cons - smoking neighbors, a crazy guitar playing neighbor (quiet hours are firm at 10pm however we were subjected to his passion on the guitar from early morning until quiet hours), and oh so many skunks. We will definitely come back again and absolutely recommend the campground. Just wish smoke and noise were kept to one's site.…
It's great that there is still a camping option on MV. We were cyclists and took a 'primitive' site in the furthest corner of the campground. It was a great campsite, with immaculately clean facilities, really helpful and friendly owners and staff. 10/10 from us.
The family/staff here is kind, helpful, and informative. The camp bathrooms are some of the cleanest I've seen. We enjoyed our time seeing the island and our evenings enjoying food, games and the campfire. Brings back wonderful memories of family camping, that I treasure from my childhood! Located close to the ferry. We all agreed we'd love to come back here again!!! Thank you Ally, Mike, and Bill!!!
Wonderful experience at this stellar family-owned campground! We were two couples who rented a cabin for Labor Day weekend. Understatement of the year, the staff was amazingly kind and helpful, perfectly prepared for any of our requests, limitations of COVID, etc. We truly can’t wait to come back with our kids one day, and perhaps sooner, just to relax by the fire. Thanks!
i just love this place. I camped here 13 years ago and noticed they had rustic cabins. So i came back and stayed a week in the cabins. They are cozy with queen and 3 bunks and comforable mattresses. They come equipped with a small Frig and freezer, Gas Grill with utensils, chairs and a picnic table. The cabins are close together so you can hear your neighbors. I would ask for a cabin with no kids if you wish to sleep late. The restroom facilities are immaculate and kept clean and employ social distancing measures. The owners are a lovely family and are great concierges for the island. They have a general store and also provide coffee and certain food service. There's a bon fire every night so you can meet your fellow campers. They have spots for tents and RV. The place is centrally located on the island so its only 12 minutes to Oakbluffs and 15 to Edgartown. You can not have a more affordable, relaxing and safe spot. Best to keep your food indoors otherwise you may have a few harmless critters stop by. Will gladly come again.…
This is a terrific campground. We stayed here for a week over the 4th of July. Spotlessly clean, quiet and well managed. Our RV site had all hookups including cable TV. There were some restrictions due to Covid-19, such as limited access to the store, and the elimination of some campground activities, but this didn't affect us at all. This quiet campground is in a great location on the main road with easy access to everything. The bus stops right at the entrance road. Lots of tent sites, and the whole island is very bicycle friendly. The reservation staff works with you to find dates that will work with the available ferry reservation slots. 5 STARS.
Wonderful, helpful staff! Clean and well - maintained with a store that stocks all of the essentials. Very family friendly with playground and bike rentals. Great location near Vineyard Haven (about 1.5 miles).
OK, so "cost effective" is a relative term, you are on an island after all! Have visited here twice and I have to give two thumbs up to the staff at this campground. Both times we've stayed, we've had issues with our camper (nothing to do with the camp ground!) and both times, the owner and staff went out of their way to help me and my family out. Can't thank them enough and they wouldn't even accept a tip! Quiet campground, central to about anywhere on the island, and beautiful/well maintained grounds.
