ROOM REVIEW: We were in room 4. The pros: The room was extremely clean, The bed was a king size, the room had a very rustic feel to it, and the water for the shower was hot and had a good stream to it. Not the kind were you barely feel it. The Cons: There is a large draft coming

I am really torn here. On the positive, I loved the feel and rusticity; I used to have an apartment that was in an old barn, so it brought back good memories. It's kind of like visiting your really cool aunt's house, but while visiting relatives is free, this place costs... a

Response from Race Brook L, General Manager at Race Brook Lodge

Dear SardoNoomspa, Thanks so much for sharing about your experience. We are always trying to update the property and your feedback is really valuable. I'm sorry you didn't feel the magic at Race Brook Lodge. Maybe the weather wasn't good for hiking to the waterfall. A lot of people love room 4. That said, we know we still have a lot of work to do on the property, and it's true our rooms don't have a lot of "amenities" that have become standard in the industry. Also, taking care of a historic property like this and keeping it open for all to enjoy is very expensive, so staying at RBL and dining at the Stagecoach Tavern is going to cost more than going to Holiday Inn Express or another chain restaurant. That's just how it is unfortunately. We are so grateful for all our guests who keep coming back, understanding that maybe Race Brook Lodge is not for everybody. Thank you again for your honest feedback, and wising you all the best! -Casey

My men's group - 6 of us - had an extraordinary weekend at the Mountain House at Race Brook Lodge's facility. This is a BIG house nestled privately in the mountains, perfect for a family getaway, a trip with friends or running a retreat. The house has a gorgeous view of the

Room 6 was under the main room, and we feared it might be noisy, but there was no one making any noise up that evening. Warm and cozy on a blustery rainy night. Would have been a very pretty place to be - near the back porch and the river, if the weather had been better.

We went here for a wedding. Described as "shabby chic". Really mostly shabby. People are very nice but doors don't fit, window had no curtain to others walking by, someone left undies in a drawer, window screens let bugs in etc. For the wedding we were charged $356.00 for the

I'm not sure about the pool because we go at Thanksgiving time, but if there is one, it would only be outdoors.

Yes we are open year-round! (but we close the pool in the winter ;-)
Are they open in February?
For the fact that they are quite popular with the winter activities crowd [snow-shoeing, skiing, etc] I would imagine that they are. At the time of my friend's daughter booked her wedding Race Brook appeared to have a lot of events stacked up through the winter. That said, the best way to find out is a simple phone call or email.

"Room 7 was great!!"
"Room #2 was cozy and perfect for one. I can see a couple feeling comfortable with the space."
"Our room on the ground floor with two beds was okay, but not super nice."
"Bring good boots if you plan on hiking a lot. In the winter, much of the trail is snow, slush or at least wet."
"You would probably want to ask for a room in the main building, especially in cold weather or rain."
