The only bad thing about the Yankee Clipper is when you have to leave it. A place where you enjoy a fantastic view of the ocean and Rockport and comes with the glory’s of the way the rich stayed in the past with updates that have been done right. When you add a friendly staff and great breakfast you have a wonderful vacation destination. As always special thanks to our host Mike who makes it the warm and hospitable it is!

We went here for our 34th wedding anniversary weekend. This place is a total gem. Our room had a gorgeous view of the ocean and it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the staff (including the General Manager, Mike) were friendly and accommodating. I can't find anything wrong with our stay. We rarely travel to the same place twice, but if we did we would definitely come back here.

We stayed overnight between trips to Salem. The employees were all very nice. We booked the sea witch room and the view was amazing. Breakfast in the morning was great, very nice selection. Was about a 40 minute drive into Salem. The room was one of the more expensive selections but the view and the extra space were absolutely worth it. Bathroom was great, with a rainfall shower head, and we had plenty of space to move around and relax.

Beautifu charming inn, great views, excellent facilities, exceptional staff. Breakfasts are delicious. A great place to unwind and visit the local shops, art galleries and restaurants. My wife and I had to be in Boston and decided to spend the weekend in Rockport. We took a chance on the Yankee Clipper, never having been there before, and hit the jackpot. Can’t wait to go back

From the moment we checked in my wife and I knew we had made a great decision. Slightly off the beaten track, the Inn provides quitessential beauty, comfort and relaxation. We selected a rooom in the Quarterdek house adjacent to the main Inn. The view of the water was breathtaking, the room beautifully appointed, impeccably clean and quiet, and the bed was ultra-comfortable. We strolled the well manicured grounds and lounged on the Gazebo while looking out over the water and rocky shoreline. We toured the Inn and was impressed by it's beauty, history and how well it's furnished. Adding to the experience was the excellent breakfast with quite a few choices, all made to order and delicious. The service in the dining room was outstanding - I wish I could remember the name of the woman who served us - she was charming, attentive, friendly and had a delightfull New England accent. The staff was helpful, friendly and caring. Mike, the Inn Keeper, treated us as if we were longtime friends even though this was our first (but won't be last) stay. Mike went out of his way to insure we were comfortable and competely satisfied - which we were. It was a perfect stay!

Fiesta week on Cape Ann and it showed as I was looking at rates. Fortunately, I came across the Yankee Clipper on AMEX Travel and it seemed to be a hidden gem that I never paid attention to when growing up in Gloucester. Sure enough, my gut was spot on. Service modifications were clearly still present due to COVID such as contactless check in and daily housekeeping. But they clearly care a lot about the guest experience and go out of their way to still get you everything you need towels wise and make sure to have a thorough welcome letter and parking signs that explains everything you could have asked for. Yes, the views are awesome, the staff is friendly and it all is just so authentically New England hospitality the way it should be done.

My husband and I spent the weekend and what a beautiful location and the view is absolutely breathtaking. Our room was well equipped, clean and adorably furnished. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching kayakers, fisherman and children playing along the shore. Breakfast is included and it’s delicious as they have different specials each day. Can’t wait to return and stay in the Paul Newman room!

I'd like to address some of the (relatively few) essentially negative, vastly inaccurate comments. found herein and elsewhere Some report breakfast shortcomings/limitations that are not (at least as of now) valid. Omelets, as but one option, come in wide varieties including multiple quality ingredients, and are prepared to specification. Service is uniformly outstanding and warm with Mike a great host setting the standard. We had a momentary, minor plumbing problem and he was on it immediately. The next moring he sought us out to confirm all was now in good stead. Others on the staff radiate the same personal warmth and attention to care. It is immediately obvious The Yankee Clipper is spending a great deal of money in timely upgrades. Our two-room apartment (Sea Witch) had lovely views captured in a vista generous private balcony deck. The 55" tv was abundant with channel options. There is a modest elegance and much warmth about the overall environment, with a number of romantic settings captured in seating arrangements outside on the premises. A couple of reviews complained of not having water views. That's akin to complaining of no free drinks and wide leather seating when purchasing an economy flight ticket rather than an upgrade option. Additionally, when choosing a classic historic inn, it should go without saying sleek, sterile modernity is not an appropriate measuring stick. Some are simply not content unless they can can project bulletins spread grumpy vibes. Happily most guests are upbeat and consistently seemed content, Mutual guest cordiality , as a bi-product of the positive atmosphere - was abundent throughout our extensive visit. Read the details carefully enough before making a choice in room options. We noted no hidden significant or distracting flaws . One gets accommodations relative to what is invested in a range from both good value through higher indulgence. We are so pleased to have spent four nights last week in Rockport's Yankee Clipper. The location is perfect for multiple easy to reach touring days with excellent dining, historic, sightseeing options in varied context. We travel extensively in wide international and domestic settings,. Yankee Clipper is a gem, and - if headed again to Cape Ann - we'd return in a heartbeat.
