We came to Rockport to attend a performance at the Shalin Liu center and stayed over on Saturday night. The Lantana House was the perfect place to stay. It’s a five minute walk from Shalin Liu and most of the restaurants in town. The B&B is very comfortable, our room was immaculate and nicely appointed with the amenities such as a hair dryer, cable TV, WiFi, toiletries. There is a refrigerator one flight down to store your snacks. The continental breakfast was great—all sorts of home baked quick breads, granola, yogurt (both made by the owner) cereal, cheese, etc. The coffee was great, too. Excellent place to stay in Rockport.

Over the years we’ve celebrated several anniversaries in Rockport. This time a family matter brought us to Boston just prior to our anniversary. So we added two extra days and took the train from North Station to Rockport. Even in a light drizzle it was easy to roll our luggage down sidewalks from the train station half a mile to Lantana House. We were greeted warmly by Tracey and her two dogs. Our second floor room had a comfortable king bed, and a cheerful decor with beams on the ceiling that gave a cozy feel. Reaching the room was a bit of a challenge given the twisting staircase. Tracey helped us with luggage, luckily. She recommended a few nearby lunch spots. The shops and restaurants on Main Street and Bearskin Neck are all close by and we took off to explore in the mist. By the time we returned, we were thoroughly soaked. So it was good to climb into the small tub, clean up and find dry clothes. The room was perfect for relaxing. The next morning dawned cool and clear. We met Richard at breakfast and enjoyed talking with him and a young family staying over from New York City. When we asked Richard about cabs to bring us to the train station early the next morning, he said he would drive us. We were concerned about getting to Logan Airport via commuter rail and the T in time for our noon flight. We needn’t have been. A fellow traveler suggested we disembark at Chelsea Station and catch the Silver Line bus to Airport Station. From there we boarded a blue bus to our terminal. The only charge was for the commuter rail train and, as we now qualify for senior fare, the cost was only $5.25 pp. all the way from Rockport to Logan. It took less than two hours, including wait time, to get to Logan from Rockport Station and we didn’t have to fight rush hour traffic. I’ve long preferred to travel lightly with a rolling carry-on and taking local public transportation since following travel guru Rick Steve’s recommendations years ago. I’m happy to report that, despite a few aches and pains in my aging body, it’s still possible. Staying at a convenient location like the Lantana House certainly helped. Thank you for the lift Richard. And thank you for your hospitality, Tracey. You have a lovely B and B.

We only had one night in Rockport, and found a vacancy at Lantana House. The room was quaint, the bathroom small but serviceable. The baked goods for breakfast were good, made even better sitting on the front porch. The best part of Lantana House is the location, just one block from Dock Square. With a parking lot behind it, so we could just leave the car and forget it, location was a HUGE plus. We did find our room (#1) a bit noisy. It is on the first floor, right in the front of the house. The window opens onto the front porch. And with construction next door - starting at 7 a.m. on Monday morning - we were a bit sleep deprived the next day. Fortunately, there was good coffee waiting for us. Despite the noise in our room (we did not see any of the other bedrooms), when a family member asked for a Rockport recommendation that same week, I recommended Lantana House.

Thank you for your comments. You were in our smallest room, but quaint. We are sorry about the noise but the work next door has gone much longer then expected but should be finished in 4-5 weeks. We are glad you could enjoy breakfast on the front porch and be close to all the things of Rockport. We hope you are able to return some time in the future.

We were flying to a wedding in Rock Port, MASS. We had never been there before so I had to chose a B&B by TripAdvisor. Was I ever lucky to find this lovely B&B. Everything about it was quaint and charming. We could walk to the seaside, all the wonderful restaurants and the village shops. The host greeted us every morning with fresh homemade coffee cakes, blueberry muffins, granola, fruit, eggs, etc.It was a wonderful stay and we will return!

What a great BnB experience! LOVED the fact that it was such a short walk to T-Wharf and the shopping district. I was in one of the rooms in the suite - cozy little area with two rooms, kitchen and bathroom. The hosts were very helpful, provided a wonderful continental breakfast (with three locations to eat), and were always available to answer questions. I've visited Rockport a number of times, but missed this little gem. Will be staying here again in the future!
