Went with family to visit Emerson, where we’ve been going for years. New management and our first meal (light snacks tapas style) a few weeks back was nice enough… however this visit was extremely disappointing - almost comical but not if you were trying to enjoy a family dinner. The drinks took 30 mins to arrive, the server forgot to provide water and it was never refilled after the first time. When the drinks did arrive she spilled a cocktail putting it on the table then wiped it up with her sleeve. The food didn’t arrive at all… we got served some chips that we’d seen mistakenly served to a different table as compensation for our hour long wait. The food finally arrived and was okay, nothing special. When asked how our evening was by the owner, we commented it had not been great…no apology, in fact she looked like she could care less. A real let down and so sad that we are unlikely to revisit what was a favorite place of ours each summer again unless management improve things.

Thank you for your honest feedback. It is very true that you caught us on a busy evening, hosting a large event, and doing our best to keep our Parlor bar open rather than close it to outside guests. Unfortunately, we relied heavily on technology, and this week it failed. I wanted very much for you to enjoy the evening like our other guests, and extend my sincerest apologies. It is our aim to help create memorable moments that are positive...and surely we failed with you and your family. Our Parlor Bar Menu has expanded to offer more meal like options, though we still only offer this through our bar tender. To elevate the service, we started offering Dinners At The Inn, featuring three-course dinners, and New England Lobster Events as we do our best to elevate the offerings fitting of our beautiful historic Inn. As the new owner, I do care and hope that you will give us another try.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of eloping at the Emerson Inn. From the beginning I contacted their events manager Chappell who was extremely responsive and helpful. We chose it sight unseen based on the photos on their website. It did not disappoint! The views from the Inn and lawn are breathtaking. However, the real highlight of our stay was the entire team at the Inn. Every interaction we had with staff members in every department was so positive. They were all incredibly kind and the level of hospitality was impressive. From our evenings in the parlor with Bill, to breakfasts in the morning with Cam, and our daily interactions with Candice we truly felt part of an Emerson family. We are looking forward to returning for many years to come. A huge thank you to the entire Emerson team for making our special weekend a dream come true!

Our family of four had a wonderful time at the Emerson Inn. It is a gorgeous, historic property with beautiful views of the water, nicely maintained grounds, and a very nice swimming pool. The restaurant was not back to full service (from Covid changes), but the limited menu was very nice and we enjoyed having a drink each evening out on the Adirondack chair by the fire tables, looking out over the water. The service was not as seamless as some experiences we've had at high end inns and hotels. There were some hiccups here and there... However, the owner, managers, and staff were friendly and attentive and took good care of us whenever we needed anything. The service felt very personal and warm. The rooms are not as impeccably appointed as other stays we've had at this price point, but they are clean and attractive and the beds very comfortable... Also, the room comes with a very generous breakfast that includes eggs, pancakes, an omelette, etc. It was great to have such a nice experience in a historic inn as they can often be a bit staid and/or musty. The Emerson Inn felt fresh and well cared for. We would definitely stay here again!

From online booking, a quick call to confirm room assignment, a reminder email with important details, to arrival, warm greeting, and the view from our room, the Emerson Inn amazed. This is a beautiful and well kept inn right on the water. Quintessential higher end New England inn experience! My husband and I live only just over an hour away and scuba dive at sites around Rockport and Glouchester. We are always here by 7:30 am. With a quick bite to eat locally, we depart for home by 1:30 in the afternoon. We craved spending just a little more time here, to become more familiar with the arts and activities. Our stay at the Emerson Inn has been a wonderful way to do just that! With gratitude

Thank you so much for sharing your story! We are so glad you felt our warm welcome. I am especially happy to know that our renovations including a European vibe did not diminish the New England experience we aimed to highlight. We hope you will make it a regular overnight getaway!
