Detailed Reviews
What a wonderful week long visit we just had at the Masthead in the west end of Provincetown over the Christmas week! Our cozy apartment had everything we needed to make the holiday perfect!
We arrived to a friendly and efficient staff that was totally on task and prepared for our every need.
Our second floor unit was adorable and delightfully simple, letting the full huge picture window view of the entire Cape Cod Bay be the visual focal point of our stay! Of course there was. Large flat screen tv, but we didn’t even turn it on with the view of the tides coming in and out, the colors changing, and the sun playing on the water and sand.
The unit was spotless and totally comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and ready to make meals although being perfect walking distance to great restaurants, we only made coffee in the morning. The bathroom had a good shower, beds were comfy and linens were soft and hotel quality.
I will choose the Masthead for my future Provincetown stays. There is a quaintness and privacy, a direct connect to the sand and the sea reminiscent of what writers and painters came here for decades to find.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the family owned/run paradise: the masthead. We shared a private suite and felt safely secluded from other guests. All staff were conscientious and friendly while wearing their masks. It is an ideal location for strolling through downtown Provincetown and relaxing in front of gorgeous seaside views. We enjoyed our afternoon at Long Point and ate dinner in the west end near the hotel. Provincetown is ensuring visitors’ safety by requiring masks and providing numerous outdoor seating options. We will definitely come back to the masthead and highly recommend anyone who is looking to visit stay there. It is the perfect blend between nautical nostalgia and modern amenities. I can’t recommend the masthead enough.

Our stay at the Masthead exceeded my expectations, it was wonderful! Everything from the contact-free check-in procedure, comprehensive directions about parking and access, and the overall feeling of the accommodations as we arrived. The grounds were well-kept, the view was absolutely spectacular, and when I had a question about kitchen utensils it was answered immediately. A short walk to a wonderful restaurant called the Red Inn, and plenty of parking using the complimentary parking pass. We made a great dinner in the nicely updated kitchen overlooking Provincetown harbor, it was a special evening. I enjoyed the best sleep that I've had in months. The coffee maker worked great… I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'm looking forward to going back, and I would highly recommend the Masthead for a getaway, family time, whatever, it's a great place.

Thanks so much for the raving review! We love that you had a rest and relax time with us! Did you know, the Masthead building at 37 Commercial Street has a rare blue and white plaque with a picture of a home floating on a raft. Known as a “floater home”, this historical plaque indicates this building and about 30 others in the West End of Provincetown were originally a residence of the Long Point in the early 1800’s, the outer beach peninsula across the harbor. Home to more than 200 residents on Long Point, there was a school, a post office, a bakery and a lighthouse. The biggest appeal was its proximity to abundant fishing grounds. However in 1850, after assessing the many challenging facets of living on the outer beach, mainly the challenges of being so isolated and remote, susceptible to storms and high tides, residents decided to move the homes. They literally raised and placed them on rafts and floated them across the harbor to their current locations. Just some info / history on our location! We have some super renovations underway, so come back soon! Safe travels!

We had a wonderful stay at the Masthead. During the restrictions in this country the Masthead staff are clearly paying attention to detail and cleanliness with professionalism. The cottage was immaculate. Staff diligently cleaning all outside areas for everyone’s comfort and enjoyment. Not to mention how pleasant all staff are to the guest. Always greeting us with a smile and a kind word.
We will be back in August with our grandchildren. An additional note the view and the beach has to be one of the best on Cape Cod. Strongly recommend the Masthead.

The Masthead has a great waterfront location on Provincetown Bay in quiet and quaint West End. Wade and swim in the bay, or bike 0.7 miles to marsh trailhead to beaches on Herring Cove. Our understandably tiny room would have benefitted from outlet strips for phones, more hooks for clothes, and other accommodations for easing use of a tiny space. Bed hurt my back

My sister and family stayed at this resort and raved about how great it was. Since it was just my husband and myself, I needed a one bedroom cottage. When we arrived at the location we went to the office to get our keys and the receptionist was very nice but only walked us to our cottage provided the keys. There is no information in the cottage, nothing showing how to use the wi-fi. The bathroom was tiny and they had wash cloths and bath towels. No hand towels. was not thrilled with there policy of full payment up front and there is no cancellation policy. We have traveled extensively and we were very disappointed with this resort.
The positive was a very clean and warm room. The location for us was ideal since my son and family live five minutes away.

So sorry to hear your experience with us did not go well. Our team works very hard to be sure all our guests have an enjoyable stay. Please know we have many room options, including 3 bedroom cottages. Also, before making a reservation the costumer is fully aware of our cancellation policy. We recommend to purchase trip insure so you can be secure for any change of plans. We hope that you will give us another chance to Wow you in the future.

Extremely expensive for what it really is, if traveling as a couple a one bed bedroom will be super uncomfortable. Terrible bed. Shared bathrooms (not noted on our booking info) staff not attentive or helpful. We checked out 2 days before our original checkout date and noticed staff and had no response or anything. (They didn’t care) Cleanliness was great though.

This was our second time here, and we are already planning a third visit. Our cottage was quaint and comfortable, with a incredible water view. There is a deck along the waterfront with chairs so one can really enjoy the view. The full kitchen was a great convenience on both visits, and the bedroom was comfortable as always. The stall shower is small but works fine. The soap provided is a small cake, so I suggest bringing your own. Also bring your own paper towels. The location in the West End is very quiet and serene. We'll be back for sure!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay and are looking forward to returning. We stayed in one of the waterfront suites and the room was spacious, cozy and had an amazing view of the water. We enjoyed having our morning coffee and looking out onto the bay. The property was very quiet although there were several other guests there at the time. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The kitchenette had good quality appliances including a coffee maker, toaster and microwave. We received text messages from the office regarding our stay and were able to text if we needed anything. Overall, a wonderful, restful experience!

I’ve been going to Provincetown for years and for my money The Masthead is tops. Beautifully maintained grounds on the bay with stunning views of Long Point and Cape Cod bay. A comfortable and well appointed deck directly on the water makes swimming and sunning a true pleasure, and the rooms are just steps away. Our room on the water had an incredible view and was impeccably clean.
The staff are efficient and know how to make sure your needs are met while also respectfully giving you space and privacy. Thanks from Doug and Angie, we’ll be back!

Actually, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure about the a/c. I don't think they have a pool. My room had a full kitchen, but not sure about the others. Sorry.
People appeared to be doing so, but as a non smoker can't confirm facilities.
Hello, thank you for your question regarding The Masthead Resort and Cottages. We do not have an elevator on the property. Please let us know if you have any other questions at 508-487-0523
I am not sure. Since the cottages are individually owned some may and some may not. You would have to ask the management.
