The Surfside Hotel & Suites has garnered praise for its cleanliness and recently updated rooms, with guests appreciating the pristine linens and well-kept environment. Its amenities, including beach access and a retro pool area, along with a prime location near the Commercial area on the town's edge, have been recognized favorably. The service at the hotel is often commended for its friendliness and efficiency.
While the rooms are noted as clean and well-appointed, some guests find them to be on the smaller side. Opinions on value are mixed, and while the 1960s ambiance is a hit with many, others feel certain areas could benefit from a refresh.

We stayed at The Surfside in August, the rooms are small but they do have a balcony overlooking the ocean, definitely pay for that upgrade, otherwise you will be on the other side overlooking the parking lot. The hotel is in a great location and it is in walking distance to the downtown area in Provincetown.
They provided breakfast but due to the COVID, they gave you breakfast in bags which was pretty good as we would get granola bars, yogurts, cereal, milk, orange juice, muffins and fruit every morning. The pool area was clean and the pool is heated. The beach was clean and they provided chairs but some of these chairs are broken or about to break. They definitely need new beach chairs and they should provide umbrellas but they do not so make sure you bring your own beach umbrella as it gets hot on that beach and there is no shade. There are no lifeguards on the beach either but the water is not rough.
We had a great vacation and my kids loved it. We would go back and stay at the same hotel but hopefully they will invest in some new beach chairs.

Thank you for your review, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for letting others know about our hotel and new amenities due to the covid. Plans are to replace all chaise lounges, this was suppose to happen this year it was in our capital, however, due to the covid some things had to be scheduled for 2021. We hope to see you again if you are back in the area. Rest assured these beach chairs will be addressed in the Spring of 2021.

This great hotel has two buildings and they are maintained well. It was my first time in Provincetown and they gave me tidbits of information and helpful hints about what to do and where to go. My room was right on the water, and just hearing the waves at your window and your door, made it feel like I was on a cruise. The location is south of busy parts of town, but you can walk up to town and not worry about parking where it’s crowded. They have their own parking lot! If you can afford it, And you’re traveling with a few people, definitely think about taking the suite. We were in race point suite and it was so comfortable and spacious. It had everything you needed to make you feel at home including a full-size dining room table!.

Thank you Maria for your great review, so glad you were able to enjoy one of our suites during you stay with us. Also thank you for sharing your experience with others. The short walk to town as you stated, just 3/4 of a mile , where you can find many restaurants, shops, Pilgrim Monument, Art's Dune Tours and the Dolphin Fleet whale watch. We hope to see you again during our 2021 season!

Pros:
1. Love that they're on the beach
2. They let us check in early and check out late, which is so appreciated (and this is why there are five stars)
3. Love the view of the ocean
4. Pet friendly.
5. Parking!!
Cons:
1. Don't advertise free breakfast- they had bags of packaged muffins and juice, that's more like a free bag of snacks, and there was no coffee.
2. Room decor was old.
3. Firepit wasn't open
4. Lock on the sliding glass door was broken. They fixed it pretty quickly
5. No room cleanings during your stay right now, which is why I wouldnt stay more than two consecutive nights- things get sandy fast.
6. Many beach chairs are broken and there are no umbrellas.

Thank you for your review, we appreciate your letting us know how we are doing. Glad you enjoyed the property and ocean view and that we were able to give you an early/late check in check out. Because of the covid19 buffets cannot be put out because of the danger of transmitting the virus, we thought giving our guests a little something to start the day with a granola bar, fresh fruit, yogurt, orange juice and either a muffin or danish would be something our guests would enjoy because there are so few breakfast restaurants in town and they have limited seating because of the virus. I will look into the broken chairs and replace them. The fire pit is a gathering place and at this time gatherings should be limited therefore the fire pit is not lit, hopefully in the near future we will be able to have this open.. Hope you come back and give us another try when the covid issue is better.

We came for our honeymoon for a few days. The front desk didn’t really greet us, the place didn’t give us any honeymoon upgrades which for the price of the room is fine but we didn’t really feel welcomed. We had to switch rooms halfway through the stay due to their booking issues which is really frustrating packing all your bags halfway through, lugging it down a barely stable staircase, putting it in the car and coming back to do it all over again. When we came for the second room, it was seriously the room next to ours. We spent like 2-3 hours packing, moving, re-bringing the bags in; front desk didn’t respond positively to our request for an upgrade (even though there was vacancy), request for first floor or to just stay in the same room. It was annoying but tolerable.
Cons: The main issue is with the rooms...they smell bad, the shower curtains are filled with black mold, there was blood on the walls of the bathrooms, the AC doesn’t work, the TV doesn’t work, the WiFi doesn’t work, the walls are thin and you can hear everything, the bedding is so cheap it’s like someone filled a bag up with cotton balls and that’s your “pillow”. The fire alarm is so sensitive that it goes off every time you shower from the steam & the fan is the loudest thing I’ve ever heard (it must have been broken in our two rooms). The rooms aren’t cleaned well which was evident by the old razors left in the bathroom. The “private beach” is poorly kept, with garbage everywhere and people smoking weed at 10am, and the chairs are broken and unstable.
Pros: They do give you a beach towel so if you can drive or bike go to a nearby beach they are much better. The other main plus is the location, it’s walkable to the main downtown area & the overall location we felt safe. They give you a bagged breakfast which was yummy. If cost if your main driving point and you can tolerate the living conditions I would recommend the hotel based on location alone.

Thank you for your review. I am very surprised at the comments regarding the AC - TV - WIFI - if you had these problems you should have let us know because as you see in other reviews there are no complaints regarding these items and you never reported anything during your stay. Our WIFI is so strong that just this past week we had guests who needed to zoom and work with their companies and had not issues what so ever. True that the smoke alarm will go off if you take a shower with the bathroom door, we explained this to you several times during your stay, the steam makes the alarm go off, when the steam clears the alarm stops. There were no vacancies during your stay with us, therefore there were no upgrades, the only upgrades we would of had would have been a suite and all our suites were rented and had been reserved as always a year ahead of time, this happens every year, our guests leave and make their reservations for the following year in the suites. We are ever so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay and we were not able to give you an upgrade.

We just returned from an awesome two night stay at the Surfside Hotel. Some information for those considering a stay here:
Check in is at 3 PM and checkout is 11 AM. we arrived around 2 and our room was ready. The front desk staff were pleasant and informative. They explained all of the on-site amenities and restrictions due to COVID. They were very pleasant even when dealing with some difficult guests we witnessed during our stay.
Pets are allowed so if you don’t like animals this probably isn’t the hotel for you. The majority of the guests we saw had dogs -both small and very large dogs. I did not see anyone being irresponsible but you will hear barking and noise.
The pool is open. There were plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Due to COVID the bar and fire pit were closed.
The beach was nice and also had plenty of loungers although no umbrellas.
We stayed in a waterfront king and I’m glad we paid a little extra for it. The view is beautiful and relaxing. It was an average size room. It is a bit dated (peeling paint, a few stains here and there). I’ve read some reviews complaining about the price but I think it is a value considering the location and amenities. The waterfront rooms share a balcony. I did not know this when I booked however we were lucky and had great neighbors.
The location of this hotel is right on commercial street and about a 30 minute walk to all the action. We chose to drive instead of walk and we had no problem finding lots to park in for a small fee.
We met a lot of people who have been coming to this hotel year after year and we are happy to say we plan on doing the same!

We have stayed at the Surfside before, the staff remains very friendly and helpful, but I was told the changes are the result of "corporate" policies. They advertise that a continental breakfeast is included and we had enjoyed this in past stays. However the breakfeast now consists of hot water, bad coffee and granola bars.
I was told this due to "covid" restrictions, however there were no longer any mask rules in place. My opinion is that corporate found a way to institute "shrinkflation" charge the same or more and provide less service. I understand the shortage of workers to provide daily room service but when you are staying at a beach front hotel at least daily clean towels should be provided.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us again this year, we truly appreciate it. Your feedback is very important to us , and we do listen to our guests. Not sure who told you about the changes, but it is a number of reasons we no longer serve the breakfast. We at least wanted to get you a start for the day with some fresh fruit and granola bars. coffee and teas. We are hopeful that covid will soon be in our past and we can move on, but until then we need to be mindful and continue to to the best we can to keep out guests and staff as safe as possible. Most everyone enjoys our great location here in Provincetown, with our waterfront rooms, nice beach, heated outdoor, fire pit and parking. A short walk to downtown is also makes it fun. Hope to see you again. Kind Regards,

I didn't want to review the Surfside because the front desk folks were so nice. I also wish that I had taken pictures, as we couldn't believe the state of the room, particularly the bathroom. I'm not sure if we got the one horrid room in the whole of this hotel, or if we are just living on another planet. We arrived two 1/2 hours early, but the desk staff were super lovely & let us park & told us we could use the pool, beach club, etc. We were in Provincetown to visit American Horror Story location spots, so we were very grateful to park & wander. When were able to check in later in the day, we were shocked to see the room itself. The bathroom was extremely small, which is fine. However, the floor was dirty, there was mold on the floor & ceiling and there was no fan, at all (which explains the mold). The grout around the floor was black, and the bathroom door (which did not lock), was peeling at the bottom. The mold was an issue not only asthetically, but more so as a source of asthma & wheezing for our family. Thank goodness my husband brought the inhaler, which we used repeatedly in the less than 12 hours we were in the room. Again, I wish I had taken photos. Beyond this, the toilet ran & ran for over an hour after being flushed. Not one of the four of us stepped foot on the bathroom floor without flip flops. Actually, we wore them at all in our room. We were on the ground floor, which is handy...until loud neighbors come home after hours, (even with young children), talking super-loudly (not the hotel's fault, I know). Finally, the "breakfast included" was jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches (a bit below Cumberland Farms' standards & pre-packaged elementary style school pre-packed muffins). I think we are extra disappointed & want other travellers to know about this because we don't feel as though we read an honest review from enough folks who visited before us. We paid $330 + dollars for ONE NIGHT. I honestly don't know how this hotel has anyone returning, but to each their own. This is not our own. At all. Be warned & best of luck to all of our fellow travellers.

I'm sorry you encountered all these problems, we very seldom have reviews of this sort, our rooms are checked each day and preventive maintenance performed once a month. This is the first we hear about this problem, wish you had come to us. As for the breakfast, due to the fact that we are short staffed we are unable to serve our breakfast buffet as we did in the past and wanted to give our guests something to start the day, our guests seem to enjoy what we are serving. As you can see from other reviews our guests enjoying staying and are pleased with their accommodations, these are true reviews, Trip Advisor always posts only true reviews.

Sitting on the shared balcony on the third floor over looking the Bay was such a wonderful experience. We originally came for a week, but extended our visit a week because we couldn't bear to leave. The hotel, tucked into the east end of Provincetown, is a bit off the beaten path. It's about a half mile until you reach considerable commerce, but that is a bonus in my book. Fanizzi's, a lovely Italian(ish) restaurant is next door and serves delicious lunches and dinners. The beach is fantastic and low tide is a wonder as the Provincetown Tidal Flats reveal themselves.
The salt water pool was about 80 degrees during our stay and incredibly refreshing. It was so much better than a chlorine pool both during the swim and in damage to skin and hair after swim.
Jane, at the front desk, was lovely. She even hand sewed masks for sale. I bought a bunch!
Parking was a breeze with the big lot in back of the hotel.
The room was newly decorated but could probably use an update in the bathroom. I wasn't sure why the balconies were shared on the third floor, as we would have preferred a private balcony, but I am sure they have a good reason!
It was a lovely stay in a beautiful setting with friendly staff. We look forward to coming again!!

We stay here every year and always at the same time (during the film festival) The people here are exceptionally nice, and helpful. The room is a little dated but very clean, which to me is the most important criteria in a room. The location is great, and an easy walk to everything: restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. They treat my dogs well too, and give them treats at check in.
Due to Covid, some things have changed. Prices and fees have gone up, discounts have been diminished, breakfast buffet is gone, and replaced by cold sandwiches you take back to your room and microwave. No more housekeeping except to turn the room for the next guest. (not enough employees came back)
Will any of this keep me from staying here? Of course not. This is my happy place.

Elaine and her staff are the best! We have been enjoying the Surfside for over 15 years and will not stay anywhere else! Elaine suggested Provincetown parasail for the kids, it was a great experience! Would highly recommend it! The staff has done a great job cleaning & sanitizing the hotel during this whole pandemic. It was certainly a peace of mind traveling with my 2 grandchildren. Thank you for another great memory! Until next time❤😷😎

We visited in June of this year and were so pleased that we're going back in September.
