A wonderful B&B in the beautiful home of Kathy and Craig (and their adorable dog and cat, Thelma & Louise). This little gem is conveniently located on a quiet neighborhood street steps from the rail trail and Florence Center (a village of Northampton), a 5–minute drive to downtown Northampton, and a 15-minute ride to Amherst. Kathy and Craig’s home is warm and welcoming offering guests comfortable and clean rooms, a shared guest living room, a small enclosed porch, a lovely breakfast, and off-street parking. Kathy and Craig are very kind and friendly hosts who make you feel right at home. We’re looking forward to staying with them again in the future!

We loved everything about our stay. The house is beautifully restored and is comfortable and inviting. Craig and Kathy are friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. Being right on the Rail Trail is a delight - we were able to walk and pedal right from the Inn. The bookshelves are loaded with great books - it would be a perfect place to curl up and learn about the history of the railroad, the area, so much more. Breakfast was delicious and generous, the fruit salad was beautiful! I look forward to visiting again and will tell all my friends.

The Sugar Maple Trailside Inn hugs the Norwottuck Rail Trail, and is the ideal B&B to see and ride the Norwottuck bicycle trestle bridge - and bike even further to Amherst (and back). You will not regret it!

This is a B & B outside Northampton in the village of Florence, which is a very short drive to downtown Northampton. Craig and Kathy were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area both current and history. This is right next to the Northampton Rail to Trail for walking or biking. We stayed in the room with queen size bed and slept very comfortably. Nice room, quaint decor. The breakfast is not a full egg breakfast like some B&Bs, but the food offered was fresh & plentiful. Fruit, yogurt, Homemade Granola by Kathy, scones and muffins. Coffee was good too. We've been coming to the area for about 4 years visiting our son, and wish we would have found this place sooner. Will definitely stay here again!

Nicer accommodations or warmer, more interesting hosts do not exist. Learn about trains/architecture and the origination of Rails to Trails. Take advantage of the adjacent bike/pedestrian pathway year-round. The Inn's web site and video convey the basics they offer, plus the showers are hot and the beds comfortable. You'll sleep well. Yogurt (protein) is available with the Continental breakfast and balances the fresh fruits and breads selection. Great location to explore the area, especially on bicycle. Having just 2 rooms, and not 50, is a plus in my book!

My wife, mother, and I, spent a long weekend in Northampton for a wedding in mid-September 2015. Craig and Kathy were very warm and welcoming, and the room accommodations were clean and comfortable. They were also incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the town which lead to some educational breakfast conversations as we got prepared for the day. Their house sits on a bike trail and is only a about a mile from Look Park, which is well-worth the quick ride to go see. It's also very close to some shops, restaurants and bars. 10/10 stars for the Sugar Maple Inn. We had a wonderful time. Thanks Craig and Kathy!

Craig and Kathy were hospitable, their home is lovely, and my room was quite comfortable. While history wasn't the reason I was in the area, so I didn't get many opportunities to explore or walk much of the trail next door, I would love to return without distractions to enjoy both. One VERY, VERY minor thing: remember to pack toiletries other than soap and a hairdryer.

Family has stayed here and it is extremely comfortable and friendly . . . for what it is -- a wonderfully restored home, at a perfect location by the rail-trail, just outside Northampton. Definitely not a full-service hotel if that's what one expects. I do like Marriot's yes, but for a nice-change of pace at a unique location (it's right on the rail trail for an invigorating 10 minute ride to or from downtown Northampton), the Sugar Maple is a special treat. Craig and Kathy welcomed us like family and attended to our needs while supporting our visit and local explorations. A great way to stay near Northampton, ride bikes and enjoy one's visit to this lovely part of the world.

This wonderfully restored historic home could double as a musem with railroad maps and memorabilia. Hosts Craig and Kathy were warm and welcoming and highly knowledgeable about things to see and places to go in Northhampton and vicinity. The bedroom and bathroom were impeccably clean, bed comfortable and our breakfast featured local produce. If you're looking for a huge bedroom, you will be disappointed, but the room is cozy and comfortable. I like that the inn offers bikes that can be used to get around on miles of safe and convemnient rail trail. Downtown Northampton offering cool shops and great restaurants is just a couple of miles to the south and other eateries in Florence are a short walk around the corner.

This B&B is right next to the first "Rails-to-Trails" path in Massachusetts; the host also works to promote "Rails-to-Trails" development around the US. My room was comfortable, clean and cozy, the breakfast was great, and I could have talked to the hosts all day long! I was only able to stay one night, but I'm looking forward to my next visit, and plan to bring my bike to enjoy cycling opportunities in Northampton. Thanks!
