Such a comfy stay that we came back again
My friends and I first stayed here in November 2019 and we really enjoyed it so much, we decided to come back again in January 2020. And it’s pet friendly, which was one of our criterias when researching a place to stay. The chill vibes here make it a great place to relax and be close to nature. We have stayed in both the Caravan and Canopy rooms. With the Caravan, we had a view of the covered-up pool while with the Canopy, one gets a bit more privacy and has trees to look at. The big glass window let in a good amount of natural light. And the lamps in the room were very beautiful that I wish I had them in my own place. The king bed was spacious and comfy, my only complaint here was the pillows were too soft. Convenient outlets by the bed make it easy to charge your electronics while one is lounging and flipping through all the TV channels. And I’m also grateful there’s a hanging space right by the door for all our coats and bags since we’re in the middle of winter. Moving into the bathroom, the cheese platter of hand soaps was a nice touch. And I loved the Ursa Major shampoo that I went and brought my own bottle when I got back home. There was ample amount of bathroom counter space for all our products. But I do wish there was a full length mirror in the room rather than just behind the bathroom door. The aesthetics in the room and lodge provided such a cozy environment that I'm totally okay with staying on the hotel grounds for most of our 4 day trip.
Thank you, @mayybees, for coming back to TOURISTS, and for taking the time to chronicle all your favorite things about our spot! Next time you're here, be sure to check out our newly revamped Retail Shop in the Lodge, which carries a range of Ursa Major Products, as well as a host of delightful apparel, accessories, ointments and other treasures. In the meantime, please do reach out to me when planning your next trip. I'd love to grab a coffee and meet you in person! Cheers, Colleen <c.rafferty@touristswelcome.com>

    Fun, Hip and Friendly
This is literally a roadside "motel" transformed into a modern and rustic spot. The front faces a relatively busy road and the back abuts a tranquil and woodsy view with a rushing river providing a lovely soundscape. The rooms are sparkling and simple (could use better lighting for reading in bed) with charming minimal decor. We were here in late March, so the weather was chilly and gray, but I imagine in the warmer months the place is bursting with beautiful landscaping. Food is simple and delicious and the "room service" breakfast is delivered with a camp vibe that is really charming. Very dog friendly; next time we will bring our pooch!
Thank you, Maureen C, for taking the time to send us this lovely note! TOURISTS and the Berkshires are truly stunning in the summer months and I hope you come back to join us - with your pup in tow!

    First class retro motor hotel
Staying at Tourists was a first class, retro motor hotel experience. The room was beautiful and practical, with lots of natural wood, quality bedding and a walk-in tiled shower. The in-room radio is set to Tourists’ own radio station. Apple TV made mirroring streamed content to the TV easy. Outside, the well-maintained grounds include a swimming pool, suspension bridge across the Hoosic River and lots of walking trails. The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant was closed during our stay, but the morning room service pastries and coffee were excellent and on time.
I'm thrilled that you had such a fabulous time with us this summer, 712MichaelW! Summer is so magical and it sounds like you were able to soak it all in. We'll see you soon!

My daughter and I stayed for a weekend while visiting family. I grew up in North Adams and have driven by this hotel many times while visiting but didn’t know what to expect. We both loved it! The Good: -comfortable room with neat little amenities (out door shower, window nook with mattress where my 7 year old slept). -thoughtfully designed space: roomy, well appointed (loved the historic postcards!) -convenient location: right between Williamstown and North Adams -good food and drink at the lodge -neat little gift store/area What could be improved: -it’s a motel set up which meant that we didn’t need to deal with noise from upstairs neighbors but you could hear folks walking past. Easily managed with ear plugs -the lodge is great but a little dark Overall I highly recommend it!

We really enjoyed our stay. This was more than I wanted to spend but splurged since we needed a place that accommodated our dogs and I could enjoy the day onsite by myself while my husband would have the car out all day. The dogs and I enjoyed the many trails there (there’s a nice river behind the property dogs could cool off in). And a very helpful map and guidebook was provided for the grounds and surrounding area. Also the pool was lovely but I didn’t know you needed to reserve a lounge-but that worked itself out. The staff was amazing—very attentive and the system they used of texting requests was so convenient. We had breakfast and snacks on-site which was convenient. It’s also across the street from a pretty decent restaurant (Trail House) and also large grocery store and a nail salon. The design was gorgeous kind of modern meets rustic.

This is the second time visiting Tourists and we had a really lovely stay. We did have to call beforehand and speak to the manager, who was absolutely gracious, to waive the three-night minimum; we stayed for just two nights. The design here is absolutely impeccable -- incredible public spaces and gorgeous rooms, you can tell there is attention to detail, from the radio station in-room to the tucked in outdoor showers to the local to-do guides. The property itself and the walking trails were a true highlight. The food and drink prices sway from extremely high to completely reasonable. We ate at the Airport Rooms and had two wonderful dishes, and a huge miss with the arancini. Our biggest qualm was that the hotel was hosting loads and loads of kids, which was a bit unexpected from our end. There was a bloody nose in the pool and a particular amount of noise. The noise level in the rooms feel as if you are with your neighbors and we were unfortunately woken at six am to a crying baby who didn't stop until we left, at 8:30 am. We were able to hear the father yell at his kids while we were trying to relax on the patio and overall the dynamics of the guests really put a damper on the stay. We hope to return and maybe place a note with the staff to be situated away from families. To end on that note, all staff was more than accommodating and truly made us feel like no request was too small. Thank you Tourists and hope to return soon!

Great hotel with excellent ambiance and a cool vibe. Very comfortable rooms, with an outdoor shower on the back deck! Not as good a location as the Williams Inn as it's a 5 minute drive to Williams College, but better rooms and surrounded by nature. Highly recommend.

Writing this from the emergency room because they fed my daughter nuts after telling us three times that the dish she was eating had no nuts. This is very serious—they need to get their act together.

We loved this funky hotel, with it's retro/minimalistic/scandanavian/organic design. Our room was spacious and the bed was amazing. The window nook, glass door, & patio off of the room connects you to the surrounding nature. We enjoyed drinks in the lounge and outdoor patio, and hiked the trail behind the hotel. We did feel the bathroom could have used some additional lighting and a mirror outside of the bathroom would have been helpful while getting ready, but we also appreciate the intentional simplistic vibe that the hotel is going for. Overall we had an awesome experience. We would highly recommend it to others and will definitely return! *Be sure to eat at the Airport Rooms restaurant next door. Another unique experience with fantastic food!

We stayed here with our dog for a long weekend. The property was incredibly dog friendly, and backs up onto hiking trails. Parking was easy and free. The room design is very thoughtful—it’s minimalist but suits the landscape and our room was spacious. Room service was prompt and the food was very good. Staff was relatively hands off but we would happily return.

Came here with a girlfriend and our two dogs for a weekend in July. We had a lovely stay; they were amazing to our dogs, and the room was great, very clean. The property backs right up to hiking trails and there is alot to do in the area. We had 2 complaints about the hotel. 1 - the pool opens way too late. We checked in on a Friday and stayed til Monday and Monday the pool didn't open til I believe 10a. I was not looking for towel or food service but just to swim laps. Mind you there is never a lifeguard on duty so that was not the issue - but I think that 10a is way too late to open in the summer; also I think weekends were 9a. But it stayed open until 9p - so the pool needs to open earlier. 2 - the food/beverages are very pricey. An iced coffee would have cost me the same as two at Dunkin. And while I am sure they were yummy, it just was very pricey. The cocktails were actually reasonable though, and they make a wonderful margarita!

I accidentally made my reservation for the wrong night (the night before I needed the room). When I checked in they informed me that my reservation was for the previous night and they were booked. I accepted that it was my mistake but was hoping they'd make suggestions on other hotels and/or give me a refund. I had made the reservation the morning of the stay so it was not a look standing one. The man at check in was so condescending and unhelpful. He barely acknowledged me and clearly wanted me to go away. I've never had an experience where someone was so insensitive. There was no one waiting after me who he needed to help. I genuinely understood that I made a mistake but to be charged over $400 and not have the hotel give me even 3 minutes felt very insulting.

It was so great to chat with you last week @katywP6381KM regarding your experience at TOURISTS. I'm truly sorry we weren't able to host you. As I mentioned, even though we were in the midst of a wedding on the night you arrived, this is certainly not the feeling we endeavor to create at the hotel, and we wish we were able to provide you with better guidance about alternate accommodations in the area. I'm glad we were able to speak and I hope you can find a time to come and visit us in the future! Frank Gerry meets IKEA in spare modern rooms with excellent bed and shower but no chairs, no towel bars, no coffee or tea, dim lighting ( one bedside lamp for a king bed), not even any Kleenex. Nice pool. Interesting native landscaping. Good breakfast one day; fruit and burnt toast the next, 45 minutes after ordered. Problems in the kitchen, we were told, and the meal was comped.
