Although we arrived late, Ellen greeted us with good cheer and after introducing us to their two friendly dogs, gave us a quick tour of the house. Our upstairs room was comfortable and attractively furnished; the bathroom sparkling and recently renovated. We met Craig the following morning at a breakfast. We enjoyed getting to know him and appreciated his sly sense of humor. The other guests we met were interesting, well-traveled people who hope, as we do, to return to this charming, well-run B&B.
The Chesley Road Bed and Breakfast is beautifully appointed. The bed was very comfortable. Ellen and Craig were perfect hosts. I loved that it was a very quick walk into town where there are lovely restaurants and shops. I felt right at home and look forward to returning.
This is a beautiful house full of character. You will be made extremely welcome by the hosts, as well as their lovely cat and dog! There is an excellent breakfast in the mornings - I enjoyed the nice selection of cereals, various breads and fresh fruit. The house is just a few steps from the commercial part of Newton Centre. There are lovely cafes and restaurants to cater for all tastes, as well as a great bookshop nearby. The neighbourhood is full of wonderful old houses and tree-lined avenues - very nice for walking. It is just a few minutes walk to the T station, so very convenient for travelling into the city. It is a pleasant walk to Boston College Law School, so a good base for visiting there too.
Last week, I had a conference in Boston and wanted to stay near by. I found this great little bed and breakfast on a residential street within walking distance of restaurants and other stores. It was less that 0.5 miles from my conference which was also great. The room was beautiful with a lot of sun and there is a private bathroom with every room. They supplied everything you could need (shampoo, conditioner, cotton balls, etc.). Breakfast was easy and available until 9:30 (10:00 on weekends). There are some really cozy rooms on the first floor for visiting, reading or watching TV. The prices were very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone (they can even accommodate kosher).
Stayed here for 3 nights as part of our tour of New England. A warm welcome was provided by the two hosts, Ellen and Craig, who made us feel at home straight away. The rooms are very comfortable, well maintained and ours had a lovely balcony. The bathroom was along the corridor from our room and had the best, most relaxing shower I've had in a long time. Situated close to the shops, bars and restaurants in Newton and only a short walk to the 'T' station to get the train into Boston, Fenway etc. The cat and dog were very friendly without being overpowering and added a further nice touch to the place. I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the area.
