Classic floor thru spaces with windows on 2 or 3 sides, each on one side of the floor. Living room, bedroom, large bathroom, good storage. Quiet area close to all. Lovely breakfast, changes daily. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Take the stairs to the top floor for the best light, or get the ground floor room for no walking up!

Spacious bath, plenty of towels, a refrigerator and breakfast and coffee in the morning was wonderful. Awesome ambiance next to the fire in the foyer. Coming home at night, a decanter of port and cookies!

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Newburyport, which is a wonderful place. We booked the double bedded room which didn't have the same amenities as the suites in the main building, but was perfect for us. (The flight of stairs to reach the room are outside the building, so if you are physically challenged, it may be a problem) The room was extremely clean and well-appointed. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts both mornings, including a wonderful brioche french toast. Gloria is an excellent innkeeper - friendly and knowledgeable. We had dinner reservations at Loretta and the Mission Oak Grill, both which were an easy walk from the B&B. I would definitely recommend this B&B.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your recent stay at the Compass Rose Inn. Gloria and Ken are indeed gracious hosts who are happy to accommodate our guests with suggestions for local attractions as best they can. Being in close proximity to downtown Newburyport our guests can park at the Inn and walk to Newburyport's many shops, art galleries and restaurants. The City's paved rail trail for hiking or jogging is located across the street from the Inn and meanders along the waterfront as well as city neighborhoods. I thank you for your kind review and hope you will stay with us again in the future.

We lived in Newburyport for five years and try to get back once or twice a year now that we live in northern NH. We used to walk by the beautiful Compass Rose Inn and always hoped to stay there. We finally secured a booking on our most recent trip, and the experience was perfect! We felt like we were stepping back into a more elegant time in this completely authentic Federalist reproduction in Newburyport's historic South End, blocks from the shops and boardwalk. The accommodations were luxurious in this all-suites inn: spacious bathroom, an extra sink in the dressing area, mini-fridge, king-sized bed with comfortable pillow-top mattress, light and airy sitting room with working fireplace and overstuffed chair and loveseat. The Innkeepers, Gloria and her husband Ken could not have been more attentive, friendly and accommodating. Gloria's delicious full breakfasts in their formal dining room with the gleaming cherry table lacked for nothing. Port wine and cookies in the top-floor cupola with water view after dinner was an extra treat. Five stars in every category and we will be back!

Thank you for your kind review of our Inn. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and we met all your expectations. Indeed, we are located just steps from downtown Newburyport and all it offers - many quaint shops, local museums, art galleries and, of course, a diverse selection of restaurants. Gloria and Ken are wonderful hosts and are available to help our guests in every way whether it be fun things to do around town, dining choices, etc. Take advantage of Newburyport's paved walking trail which winds thru the town along the waterfront and lovely neighborhoods as well as Plum Islands beautiful beaches. We thank you again and look forward to seeing you in the future.
