The Harbor Light Inn delights guests with its charming and elegantly appointed rooms, which, despite occasional mentions of thin walls, generally receive high marks for comfort and style. Its cleanliness is another aspect that earns rave reviews, as both rooms and common areas are maintained meticulously. Visitors frequently commend the attentive and friendly staff, enhancing the overall atmosphere of cozy elegance. Nestled in a prime location, the inn offers easy access to local attractions and harbor views. Although some guests note limited breakfast options and unexpected charges, the value of a stay here is often appreciated, especially with the added touches like gas fireplaces and chocolates that contribute to the inn's inviting ambiance.

The Inn has a central location in one of the oldest towns in the country. The ambiance is calm and cozy with fireplaces going for extra warmth. Shops are up and down Washington Street and fun to browse through with the harbor just a few blocks away.

Harbor Light Inn has the perfect location that makes Marblehead walkable. It is historical with all of attention to preservation. Each morning a delicious and unique breakfast is provided, and the staff is warm and charming. My husband and I would definitely return. It was wonderful.

The room was perfect. The location amazing. The Inn itself was just perfect. Everyone that we came in contact with from the Inn were friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend staying at the Harbor Light Inn! The main fireplaced living room is a perfect place to have a beverage. We played several rounds of Scrabble.

I stayed in this sweet, quaint little inn while visiting my son and family in Marblehead. I gave myself 2 lovely nights there as a special treat. They upgraded me to a room with a nice gas fireplace. The breakfasts were good and the staff very friendly and helpful. Robes in the closet and a coffee maker were among the nice little touches. Thanks for a great stay.

We went to Salem to see the Peabody Essex Museum (don't miss it if in the area). Be sure to see the maritime section with paintings. I had booked the Harbor Light Inn in neighboring Marblehead because it offered a non-commercial surrounding and was only 10 minutes or less from down town Salem. My wife and I were disarmed immediately when we arrived. Perfect location centrally located within the historic district of Marblehead MA. Ample private off-street parking. Parlor and drawing room offer an excellent first impression upon entry. Stacy, (evening receptionist) welcomed my wife and I with a big smiler and signed us in. She went through the Inn's accommodation instructions explicitly and left nothing for question including selection for continental breakfast (form) in advance for the morning. There is a private bar which is period decorated and has rich wood work, well stocked counter and subdued light. Our room was on third floor. Steps are easy with nice landings. Room 333 was impeccable and recently renovated. King bed was extremely comfortable and linens/pillows were top notch. Private bathroom had a brand new walk-in shower. Good WiFi. There's a large three panel window facing the back of Inn and has a good view. Breakfast is served in a warm dining area with nice windows at seat level allowing view of a private pool (shuttered/January) and court yard which one can easily visualize the surrounding floral awaiting spring. We had French toast with two sausage and juice. Coffee is placed on a built in table as one enters the dining area. When we checked out, Cassandra (manager) gave us tips on some of the historic homes and Abbot town hall. I'd recommend eating at Maddie's in its second floor restaurant. Excellent combination of Seafood and contemporary American. It is within a stone's throw from the Harbor Light Inn. It has a first floor bar which apparently is a beacon for locals. Draft beers are $7.00 and served in large pint classes. Try the Allagash. I had the paella. It was oversized with I counted at least a dozen + mussels, 5 little necks and about a half dozen shrimp. My wife had the scallops with lobster risotto and asparagus. A word of caution. There's a restaurant called the Landing along the waterfront which is pure tourist - enough said. There's another restaurant along the waterfront called the Barnacle that was undergoing renovation and was closed but its literally built on the sea wall to the harbor and they advertise double lobster Wednesdays (they catch their own). Definitely want to check it out next time we return to Marblehead. I'd definitely recommend the Harbor Inn as a get-away for discerning couples.

Some people should not go into the hospitality business. The owners of this place and their manager are examples. Guests should not be taken for granted. Staff’s lapses in service should not be reflexively defended. Apologies should not only come when evidence is overwhelming. Positives: The mattress was comfortable and good quality Breakfast was good, and they were open to modifying for health needs Negatives: Housekeeping and waitstaff poorly trained Already being up charged for the presence of the fireplace, apparently a second log to burn warrants an extra $5 charge per log It’s a very old structure—windows are very thin and can hear all of the road noise even up on the second floor. The room doors are very thin—you can clearly hear other guests’ conversations The floors are sloped The radiator will knock and make loud noises in the middle of the night The pool is small (think short lap pool for elderly people) If you have mobility challenges, there are a lot of stairs When another guest walks in the room below, the bed sways, like you’re sleeping on jello

We are sorry to hear you had such a negative stay but we can also say we found the experience just as distressing. We did our best to please you but had difficulty from the very beginning. Your long list of critiques were hard to manage. Our manager spent a lot of time with you, having multiple discussions and really went over the top attending to you so its surprising you would make a note otherwise. You also say that the owners of this place should not be in hospitality but we have been in business almost 40 years so a comment such as that is upsetting and simply not true. We do our best to please every guest that walks in the door but can appreciate that we are not for everyone. We hope you find a place better suited for you in the future.

Great B&B with a great location, staff and rooms. The Inn is clean, well maintained and has good parking, great access to the town and a very fine breakfast. The prices, while not cheap, are very reasonable.

Such a beautiful inn in the perfect location. You are able to walk pretty much anywhere for fun and sightseeing. The room was gorgeous and the staff was very accomdinating. I booked through a 3rd party so I did not know that they usually do not allow kids under 12 and I brought my 3 year son. They were still very kind about it and sweet to him. I still wouldn't recommend kids so you and the other guest can enjoy your stay without much noise. Thoroughly enjoyed the large jet tub and fireplace with the cold weather. Will definitely be back!
