We had a wonderful weekend at the Federal House Inn. We like that Lee is a real town but right next to the very genteel Berkshire towns. We took a great hike just beyond Lee and stopped at the Outlet Stores to great success on our way back. The Inn, well, you’ve heard about the breakfasts? Cannot emphasize how delicious, sumptuous, generous and creative the breakfasts were, all three courses. We never needed lunch. The place is beautifully appointed. Welcoming sitting room and afternoon tea/happy hour brought everyone together. We started out in a nice but unrenovated room but due to some mechanical difficulties (that room has since been renovated) we were moved to the big front room and it was perfect in every detail. Great four poster bed, excellent mattress, beautiful lighting and a bottle of wine left for us. The family is warm and giving, the kids studying in the kitchen but quick to help out. It was a great stay! Highly recommend!

Property's Favorite Review
If I had to choose a song to describe Federal House Inn, it would be Perfect by Ed Sheeran—and even that musical masterpiece does not do this place justice. Seriously. If you’re dreaming of an incredible getaway, Federal House Inn will make your dreams a reality (in a really comfortable bed). Our stay was a 20/10 and we we’re in the process of drafting adoption papers to send to Gayle & Michael so never have to leave #We’re32&NotJoking My boyfriend and I recently planned a weekend getaway to the Berkshires. After extensively researching properties, we decided to [make the best decision of our lives and] book Federal House Inn. The Inn had great reviews online and the pictures were stunning—needless to say, our expectations were high. We were excited to arrive. Prior to our check-in, we received a call from Gayle. She asked if we were looking forward to our upcoming stay and asked if we had any dietary restrictions that she could accommodate. We have both traveled extensively and have never received a call from a proprietor prior to check-in regarding personal preferences. And we probably never will again until our next stay at Federal House Inn. Thank you, Gayle, for your boundless hospitality—and for making us feel like VIP's. When it was finally time to arrive, we were greeted at the door by the friendliest gentleman. He welcomed us and gave us a grand tour of the stunning property. My boyfriend and I were wowed by every perfectly curated detail. Federal House Inn is so eloquently and tastefully decorated it should be featured on HGTV #CallJoannaGaines The house is historic and authentic yet modern and inviting; it's light, bright, cozy, and warm. Gayle has maintained the character of the property while enhancing its natural charm. She has achieved a virtually unachievable balance and has made it seem effortless. The Federal House Inn is art. We retreated to our room (well, Theresa’s!) and it was lovelier than anticipated. We spent some time gawking over the gorgeous wallpaper, the tasteful built-ins, and the beautiful bathroom (best. shower. ever) before heading downstairs for some R&R in the Adirondack chairs adorning the porch. We stocked up on a few of the delicious goodies Gayle left out on the table--from sea salt caramels to cookies, the selection was pretty sweet #DadJokes Back in our room, we slept soundly. Snug in our bed with visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads, even Good Old St. Nick couldn’t have prepared us for the mind-blowing breakfast we would experience the next morning. Christmas came early! We were served 3 courses: to start, a homemade zucchini muffin, followed by fresh fruit topped with yogurt & lemon drizzle, and a finally, a corned beef hash decorated with sweet potatoes and micro-greens. Delicious is an understatement. Each dish was plated beautifully and our breakfast could have easily rendered a 5-star review on Yelp. A few call outs: They make their own kombucha! They place emphasis on serving local farm-to-table produce whenever possible! Michael filled my coffee before I even realized my coffee was low! They remembered that I was a vegetarian (asking if I was vegan just to be sure!)! Gayle & Michael, you are too good for this world. We don’t deserve you. Prior to departure, we met the sweetest employee who offered to take our picture. We could not be more grateful- we appreciate that you helped capture the memory of such a great getaway. Thank you. While we were devastated to leave, we are already looking forward to our next visit. Gayle, Michael, and team- thank you for the most pleasant stay on Pleasant Street. We can’t wait to see you again. Trip Advisor community- book a room at the Federal House Inn. It is the treat you didn’t know you needed, enhanced by the scrumptious treats Gayle leaves out on the table 😊 Enjoy!

Dear Kate~ Amazing!!! Are you a writer? If you are not...you sure should be.:-) We are not only honored by your words, but humbled. And, yes...we will adopt you anytime!!! While we thank you for sharing the many details of all that we do to ensure our guests have a MOST memorable stay...we cannot take all the credit. First, we have a most amazing staff!!! We wouldn't be where we are without each and everyone of them. They make us look good! We thank them all for their hard work and dedication. Also, we thank all the wonderful previous owners for providing a great foundation from which to build. We really look forward to your return visit, and hope for a longer stay when in the Berkshires!! This is by far the best Inn I have experienced on the East coast. The Federal House Inn is beautiful and the family is friendly and helpful. On top of all of this, then there is our breakfast. I can not even begin to put in words how phenomenal the gourmet level of food and presentation was. This was a wonderful experience all around.

We so enjoyed our stay at The Federal House Inn. The House is gorgeous with beautiful and uniquely decorated bedrooms, and living and dining areas. The hosts are wonderful: warm & friendly, happy to help make your stay memorable any way they can. The next day breakfast is phenomenal- absolutely gourmet level food and presentation. When you leave you will feel happy you had a chance to experience this special Inn. We did, and totally recommend The Federal House in to anyone looking to explore the Berkshires.
