Circa 1863 - The Robert Jordan House. Stroll on walkways throughout this almost-one-acre estate that is accented by terraced perennial gardens. The Victorian home with Italianate detail was built by a Civil War veteran who became a general merchant. Accommodations include guest bedrooms in the main house and the restored Carriage House. All rooms have private bath, air conditioning, television, free WiFi - all the amenities you would expect in a fine Bed and Breakfast. A wholesome breakfast is served in the sun drenched dining room, on the garden deck, or in the formal dining room in the historic house and is included in with the room. A tranquil ambiance is imparted during a visit here.

Detailed Reviews
This place is family owned. The owners are there all the time, and are most gracious, welcoming and friendly. They helped us with extra towels, using the kitchen microwave, provided some cutlery, and overall were very nice and made our stay very pleasant.
There are shelves with toys and games for little (and older) children, which was a nice bonus!.
The place itself has a romantic feel, feels cozy, and is close to local attractions and the city center and MBTA commuter rail. We stayed in the Jordan and East room.

I just stayed at the inn for my first trip home since before COVID. Ray and Margaret go out of their way to make you comfortable and they know all of the things to do and see in Ipswich and nearby towns. The breakfasts (included) offer a huge menu and are delicious. Many locals come just for the breakfast, and there's a large outdoor shaded porch off the indoor dining area. The inn is a real house, right in the middle of town. The rooms are large and mine at least had a mini-fridge with water, and Keurig coffee (nice). Sodas, water, beers in the downstairs fridge, along with coffee and tea, are there for guests. Bed was comfy, bathroom very clean, recent, and well-appointed. Windows all open and have pretty curtains. During my visit most guests and all staff had been vaccinated and CDC had just lifted mask requirements for anyone vaccinated. Easy parking right outside the inn. Gorgeous historic neighborhood. You can walk downtown for a nice variety of restaurants and the town's favorite coffee gathering spot: Zumi's.

Thank you Rachel. That was a great review and we appreciate taking the time to do so. Hopefully you will be in the area over the summer and if you have the time we can visit the wales in my boat. Ray Morley Ipswich Inn

We recently had out of town family stay at the Inn for our son's wedding and felt welcomed and perfectly at home. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The added bonus was the spectacular 5-Star breakfast which was included in the price of the stay. We would be delighted to stay there again!

I stayed 3 nights in the East Room to attend my HS reunion in Ipswich. My girlfriend stayed down the hall in the Wicker room. The room was large with a really comfy bed and nice bathroom with excellent lighting. A small fridge with complimentary water & coffee maker with creamer a nice added amenity. Ray & Margaret accomodated every request and couldn't be nicer! The breakfasts are awesome and staff very friendly. We even got take out pizza from Riverview Pizza and enjoyed in the living room while taking in a Red Sox divional series game - felt right at home!
Definitely will return - not one complaint.

If you are looking for history, comfort and accessibility on Boston's North Shore, Cape Ann this is certain to delight!
Thus is truly a real treasured gem especially if you like the country Inn ambiance vs. the bigger hotel or big box chains that are plentuful in the area.
Situated on the outskirts of Ipswich and a mere five minute walk into town where there are plenty of shops, cafés, restaurants, antique stores and a lovely river walk to please.
Not to mention the lovely couple who run this establishment and their very warm and caring, welcoming staff who made every effort to welcome us.
These are pros. who have run the Inn for many years with many stories to tell I am sure but love every bit of their hard work and thriving business.
Locals come for their delectable daily breakfasts, where with good weather one can sit on the covered deck and view the pretty gardens below.
Also if you are lucky you may get a visit from the friendly family chicken who comes strutting up the stairs to see who has what for breakfast..a humorous sight for sure, or may be not...
Our special visit was a prelude to accommodations for a wedding near by next year and came highly recommended.
They also manage small weddings, rehearsal dinners and other functions on a small scale.
Nothing too much for these wonderful people
Go visit them...you will not be disappointed..
promise!

We've been coming here for a number of years and always enjoy our stay. The location is extremely convenient and staff very nice and the rooms are great. In addition, guests receive their B& B breakfast at the attached restaurant with no limit on what can be ordered. This is a great plus!

Wish I could review the whole town. We really enjoyed our time in Ipswich; some of the nicest and friendliest people we have ever met.
We arrived at the Inn around lunch time and asked for suggestions for lunch; we tried them all during our stay and loved them all. Oh, and the breakfast at the Inn is great; we are missing walking downstairs to a great breakfast every morning.
Love the location of the Inn. Basically, overlooks the town and everything is within walking distance. The Choate Bridge Pub and Brown Dog Restaurant are an easy walk straight down the hill from the Inn; we tried them both and enjoyed them both. I believe the Brown Dog was our favorite; ate there three time during the week and met some very nice people there.
Also, the Ipswich Ale Brewery is worth a visit with good food and beer. While in town, if you want to try something different, check out the 1634 Meadery. Very cool.
We really enjoyed our visit and hope to return some day; hopefully bring the grandkids next time. You will not be disappointed with the Ipswich Inn Bed and Breakfast.

When I needed to return to my home town of Ipswich for my class reunion, I chose Ipswich Inn. I knew they were special. What I didn't realize was how they would treat us like family and make us feel as though our comfort was super important! The bed was so supportive yet soft, and the bathtub was like the one I'd had growing up on the same street years ago. The breakfast was outstanding in every way. If there is a room open for you, rejoice!

Our room was very clean and cozy. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The inn is perfectly located in the Ipswich historic district where you can walk to downtown and the train station. The breakfast is definitely a highlight - wide variety on the menu and delicious!!!

The Inn is conveniently located near the historic homes of Ipswich. We stayed in the Jordan Room which was comfortable and also had a fridge and coffee maker. The back garden was wonderful if you eat breakfast on the deck. The flowers were gorgeous and a Monarch butterfly was always there. Since the place is also a popular breakfast destination, guests can order anything off an extensive menu (included) and the food was delicious. I don't think you can wrong staying in this lovely Inn.
