This B and B is well situated, close to lots of Ipswich attractions and to the historic center and Green. The B and B is clean, well cared for/maintained, and they serve a delicious breakfast. One can choose a traditional Japanese breakfast or one of the other three or so options. I had buttermilk pancakes and omelettes over the few...

I especially liked the beautifully decorated rooms, just as pictured on their website. Kaede BnB has a good location in town and friendly hosts My husband enjoyed the Japanese breakfast while I liked the American option.

Friendly people, but not what we'd expect from a Japanese B&B. Breakfast was ok but a bit stilted and slow. I found the bedding a little under par, and the pillows far too soft. The room facilities were nice, and it was quiet at night. Overall they nearly got there, but I wouldn't go back.

A wonderful B&B, hosted by Jason and Makiko, with their daughter, Azuka, usually somewhere about. Located in a residential area just a short block from downtown Ipswich. Your choice of a Japanese or traditional breakfast is available and either is excellent! We previously stayed at other B&Bs in the area and Kaede far exceeds the others. For the past five...

I am sure there are fancier places to stay in the area, but this place feels like home. The owners are just the nicest people and the rooms are comfortable and certainly a bargain. If stairs are a problem, ask about a ground floor room. This is an historic house and the stairs remind you of that. We always stay...

Delightful bed and breakfast run by very welcoming hosts. We spent three nights in this historic home decorated in an elegant fusion of Japanese and old New England style. Rooms comfortable. Breakfasts varied and delicious. Centrally located surrounded by extensive historic Ipswich homes (so you can go for morning walks to prepare for that big breakfast!). Close to beaches, forests...

Nice little spot. Rooms are clean and a good breakfast is offered. Showers are very small. Very friendly owners who goes the extra mile. Restaurants within walking distance. Not suitable for disabled people I think, lots of stairs unless there are rooms downstairs that we did not see.

Kaede Bed and Breakfast is a lovely place. We spent the last night of our trip to Maine in late October at this beautiful old house just a few steps from the small town of Ipswich. We booked Ume (plum) room and it was very comfortable indeed. The owners are delightful! Friendly, accommodating and great fun to chat to. The...

We stayed at Kaede Bed & Breakfast as an early wedding Anniversary gift for ourselves. We had another wonderful stay. My husband tried the Japanese breakfast and enjoyed it very much. I stuck with the pancakes and stuffed french toast, both which were delicious. We stayed in the Willow room, the same room we stayed in our last visit. The...

Beautiful Japanese decor in a 19th century Ipswich home in the center of town. Very nice room with comfy bed, with a private bath across the hall, at a very reasonable price. Jason and Makiko are welcoming hosts. Breakfast ranged from a Japanese option to omlettes, pancakes or French toast (some with peaches harvested from their own trees). We will...

“We stayed in Kashi, a two room suite, and liked it very much. The second room is a small living room with a futon sofa. There is a door from that room into, I believe, the house's kitchen, so sound does come through (dishes and low sound of voices). I am a very light sleeper, but was not at all bothered/wakened by the sounds, which were only there in the morning and early evening. I only mention it in case a very sound sensitive person were going to be sleeping in that second room, although I'd recommend earplugs to anyone who's a light sleeper.”

“We chose a room without TV, because we wanted to spend time in the area, this was also good because we ended up chatting more with the hosts, when we went to see a weather report.”
